  • Seems the string didn't like me using an Active Directory NT User account to login to the DB. I created a SQL login and now have this working. Just to clean up my Custom Properties now. Thanks for the integration. We are buying the Google API, so we will be changing this soon and doing integration internally using the API.
  • I need a bit of help with this. I have done all the integration part, but it seems I am having issues connecting to my DB. I have updated the connection strings but still get an Error: 26. I can connect remotely to the DB using the creds I am trying in the string, but still no avail. Here is my string below, but if I check…
  • Very Nice!! I hated setting my Lat and Long for the Google Integration I worked on last year. This would have worked wonders for me back then. Bookmarked for future use!
  • You can't import MIBs on your own, and Orion uses 2 databases for MIBs. Native MIB support for NPM/SAM is located in the SystemObjectID database that is controlled by SW and updated usually on Major Feature releases. The other is the MIB database that you can download and update on your own from SW. This is used for the…
  • This is because MPLS isn't truly a layer 2 or layer 3 technology it happily rides in between both of them. NPM doesn't know how to look at the MPLS routing tables, or the VRF table to see these connections properly, so connect now doesn't understand the connections except for the Physical connections coming from the ISP or…
  • If you are sending out the EMail report of the completion of downloads it will tell you if you are having Login issues. It would stand out for you unless you aren't sending the EMail notification out showing the Completion report which is usually followed by a report comparing the New downloaded config to the Last…
  • What type of connection are you trying to use to the ASA over the VPN? Telnet or SSH. This isn't the issue I'm sure I just want to know what type of connection you are trying over the VPN since both protocols are entirely different in the way they communicate. I would also look at the NCM logs and see why these are failing…
  • I have a CR to upgrade to 5.2 this weekend actually. Glad to know this one thing that I can cross off my list when we upgrade. Thanks for the info
  • Please go into the Polling Settings. Settings>Polling Settings. Scroll down to find. "Allow alert actions for unmanaged objects" Make sure this isn't checked off. If so you will be alerting on all unmanged objects if you have any alert rules or conditions the object falls under. Hope this helps you out.
  • First off this has gone way off topic to discussing how effective alerts can be right now using syslog/traps.. This wasn't the Original post topic. To clarify as well. I would want to see my BGP peering table in full all the time if I was using this, and I'm not talking about the Prefixes or Full Routing table. I want to…
  • I would try and make sure that once you have deleted the Node from SW make sure the NodeID (Node) and all subsequent information around this NodeID are removed from the database as well. This means jumping into it and checking and manually removing any left over information. If that doesn't work I would say you might need…
  • Ok this is odd. You have all 3 interfaces, but are showing a forth as Gig 0/3... Did you by chance replace this router at some point, and it took over the previous IP? If so was the node deleted out of Orion and re-added? This almost seems like you swapped routers and kept using the same IP, and the interface ID and…
  • Anyway you can produce a Show Run? Of course with any proprietary information omitted. The 2921 comes with 3 Ethernet ports built into it out of the Factory..
  • I haven't seen a max, but yes as you adjust the polling ratio to be less frequent you are freeing up resources that would let you handle more elements. At the defaults I have seen a poller using only NPM handle 15k elements and was sitting right around 79% usage. So in theory you could poll more by turning down the polling…
  • Not sure if the SYSLOG on this device is conforming to RFC 5424 which is the SYSLOG levels below. 0Emergencyemerg (panic)System is unusable.A "panic" condition usually affecting multiple apps/servers/sites. At this level it would usually notify all tech staff on call.1AlertalertAction must be taken immediately.Should be…
  • When you assign the script template to the node are you going back to the script you just assigned on the node and running the script output for the first time under Edit?. It won't work unless you do since the full use of SAM wants to know what output statistics to expect. Once you run the output for the first time the…
  • From what I remember only a portion of WebSense is Windows based, and it's not the main application portion. That is the logger, reporter, and the apache engine for the Web GUI to name a few of the processes The application is a Linux based application and runs in a Linux environment. I would make sure you are trying to…
  • Make sure you are using the HTTPS monitor and not just changing an HTTP monitor template for this. The HTTPS template has extra options you can select to ignore the CA and CN errors that you might get when hitting an HTTPS URL.
  • Grab the info on the device that is asked for in this thread and place it in the same thread. This is the best way to have devices added to support. Native SNMP support for a device is controlled by the SystemObjectID database that is locked down and controlled by SW. The MIB database isn't used for this. That DB is for…
  • It's very common with sysadmins. I have met plenty that have no clue what SNMP even is, or how to configure it properly. Just tell them if I can't use SNMP then I need SSH access to run Perl scripts and some of them need root access. See how wide their eyes get then lol
  • Not trying to be to funny, but what security risk is there for someone being able to pull your CPU/Memory/Volume usage when you only are using a read-only string. Even more so on the Unix side when Net-SNMP doesn't report proc info correctly anyway. I don't ever care to see the averaged value of my Idle, Wait, User, System…
  • The commands listed above are done in Native IOS which you should be using from what you post as your IOS version. The first set of commands are run on the PFC, and the 2nd group are features of NetFlow that run at Layer 3 only. The per-interface NDE feature allows you to enable or disable NetFlow collection on a…
  • You might be able to if the device supports SFTP/SCP I'm not sure though as I haven't used those protocols to push anything to a device, and update the device at the same time. I have only used SFTP/SCP as a server where devices were doing put/gets, or I could push a file to a device, but it wouldn't know to start an…
  • You would need NCM to push out an IOS to Cisco devices using the TFTP server. TFTPserver from Orion is only that. It doesn't have the functionality to generate and run a script to push out updates on it's own You would also only be using the TFTP server. The SFTP server is separate and Cisco routers and switches don't…
  • I manage Cisco IPS modules that are stand alone and inside our ASA with NCM Version 7.0.1. I had no clue they were up to NCM 8.x could have swore we were still in the 7.x releases. I would check your IPS versions and if they are the latest make sure they are tied to your Raidus/ACS server. They only support Radius and it…
  • You need to download the Additional Poller package. This contains all the modules for the additional poller in one package. You just install the ones needed. In your case NPM 10.3.1 first and then SAM 5.2. You should be able to log into the Customer Portal and under License Management you should see all the Modules you…
  • If you are using basic monitoring now then just don't select the interfaces. If you are using advanced alerting then a custom property called DORMS on the interfaces would work. Make it a true/false value and populate the proper interfaces. If you can find a way to select all the interfaces at once and populate the True…
  • The only thing I don't like about moving nodes from poller to poller is I have my Production/Test/Dev environment separated by pollers and have adjusted the polling rates based on my needs in each environment. As of right now you can't set polling rates per poller, so this was a lot of custom work to complete. That being…
  • Remember the status identifiers are for if nodes/interfaces are responding or not, or if they are having issues responding.. A "Warning" or "Unknown" status isn't for anything else other than the polling status of an node/interface. They don't report the health or hardware error status of a node/interface other than…
  • Right.. What I am saying though is that the Interfaces that are in warning have received and responded to a poll at some point, but are having issues keeping up responses all the time. I haven't seen a node/interface stay in warning when they don't receive a poll after a polling period, and on the Unknown status I have…
