Do an SNMP walk on the device and it will walk the MIB and return the values for those MIBS during the walk. See if you are seeing all the interfaces in the walk. This could be from an incomplete MIB in the sysobjectID DB that Orion uses for listing resources from the MIB and the Vedor Codes/IDs. It could be that the MIB…

I was coming to add this as a feature request right now. This just happened last night in my environment. We have been pushing SW down our Support Centers throats to start paying attention to it and action items and use it for troubleshooting. Last night they did this finally!!! We have a bunch of different processes…

I personally like this comic regarding the main OS players. Just wanted to share because this is sooooo very true.

I think the gap in overhead for people who really watch resources will still be an issue. Also, WMI can grab Windows services not just the process that runs them like SNMP can only do. I like the SNMP on the node level and using WMI in use cases on the Application monitoring level.

In 10.4 and beyond there is an ability to create a drop down list for a Custom Property forcing a user to pick between pre-defined values. This should help you out as only an Admin can add new values on the fly. Slow this is becoming more intuitive. Lets just hope the mandatory CP's get added to the mix as well. A nice…

Great request for when you have other Groups or Admins that are allowed to manage nodes and they aren't the SolarWinds Admin who built the Framework of the system. This happens so often, and it can easily break the node from being able to fall into alerts that are designed around Custom Properties.

You can also do this for a workaround for the time being. And once you complete this you will see this on the report.

I doubt you will see this as an open tool for Cisco products. You have to have a CCO account have have Cisco Partner access to interface with the API to pull EOL/EOS information. SW has a tool that does this for free, but as stated you have to have a CCO account with special previleged access for the tool to fully connect…

This on different view ID's would be great, but I would like to see it based on Account/Group Accounts as well.
-
Right. But from what I know Cisco doesn't just give out access to this and that won't change. They won't let SW interface with the API and then pass this to other customers for no fees, or the license model they would work out to allow this would be insane I would bet. That isn't Cisco's model and they won't change this…

Sorry for your frustrations. I can understand the pain. I thought maybe you just lost the values of the CP's you had. At least you can still re-create them and then export to fill in the values. Again. Sorry for the troubles I know what this is like in a large environment.
-
Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but NPM does see EIGRP route tables, but I don't think it's complete information, and why it's not listed as fully supported, but I just worked in an environment, and we were able to pull EIGRP route information, but it did seem incomplete.

You can poll an OID not in the MIB DB with UnDP. You just won't get all the fields populated with information from the MIB DB you just have to fill it out yourself. There has been discussion on the forum from the users about having access to the DB to manipulate and update as we see fit. Theres also a feature request on…

We use NotePage, but we don't use it to send SMS via E-Mail. We use the ascii module and 2 connectors that we attach modems to via Serial connections to load balance alerts between ATT and VZ for SMS alerting. We have an SMTP server that can redirect text, but it's still a failure point and when it fails you lose E-Mail…

I agree with this unless they are going to keep the ability or have it worked in to where I can select 100's of nodes and Paste/Select the same value for different custom properties.
-
You can go to the Alerts section from the Home Tab. Here you can select multiple alerts and clear them or acknowledge them at the same time. Not sure if this is what you are talking about. You can also select multiple triggered alerts from the Advanced Alert manager.

Don't forget most Enterprise Firewalls now have protocols built in to "inspect" these packets and can open pinholes in the firewall based on these features to allow WMI/RPC communication to flow through the firewall and only opening up the initializing TCP port. Called DCE/RPC Inspection…

Mike have you uploaded this script to the Content Exchange? If not would it be possible to get this from you? Would love to be able to utilize something like this, but I don't have powershell skills at this time..
-
I had to do this as well with SQL.. I made it easy by adding a Volume True/False custom property and then deleted anything with the False value in the DB.
-
You can't add anything to the MIB DB yourself. The Integration DB that controls what SolarWinds supports out of the box is locked down and only gets updated on new releases if they add device support. The MIB DB that you can input new MIB's into is the UnDP DB (Universal Device Pollers), but this can only be done through…

You did. I didn't read what section this was posted in for one, but it was also a very generic request. Thanks for clearing that up. I just click new feeds from the Activity page, so I don't always catch what Space the post was posted in. I just see the post headline and go from that.

How about all around support for InfoBlox. Not just on DHCP, but also DNS management side as well. This would be huge for IPAM as InfoBlox is way more common at the enterprise level in my experience then having Windows AD doing DHCP/DNS Management, or having Routers/Switches managing DHCP. I see tons of customers a year,…

That will be great we have a DR site with PageGate set up the same way.. We also have the DB replicates for contacts between the 2 (I like only keeping one contact list updated), but alerts from the primary can't fail over to the DR site if our 2 primary SMS modems fail we have to rely on the DR site monitoring stuff back…
-
I had to do the same thing. 2 Groups in my case because I have 2 WAN Routers at my sites in HSRP for failover, so that was a group, and then all the devices behind them was another group.
-
The sysobjectID database is still used for identifying devices polled in NPM. As far as I know this has not changed yet.
-
Have you thought of doing an export to excel? You can then mass edit these fields and properites to your liking, and import them back in.. It's a lot quicker.. And here is the kicker that makes it fun. Once you do that you can select to have drop down values and BAM!! All the values you have created for that Property now…

No problem! Glad you got the request up here. This is a good one. I know all of us here at Loop1Systems have passed it around to be voted on.
-
You can already do this. Hide the Reports by not allowing access to the Directory, or hide individual reports by going to the Report Writer and opening the report you want to hide. On the First Tab (General Tab) at the bottom by the Orientation setting you will see an option to to check labeled.. "Make this Report…

That would be great. I think I can poke around enough to see what I can do to send the E-Mail out.

Setting a trigger like this is bad I found out.. Node Status is equal to Up This is bad!! What it should have been that one time in my hasty creation of an alert was... Node Status is NOT equal to Up Live and learn and SLOW down.. ahahah
