Is there any kind of SLA for low priority cases? I opened the case a week ago, and the only response I have received is the auto-generated case number. I don't want to increase the priority of the ticket as there are workarounds, and I recognize the importantance for support to be working on more serious issues, but some…

That's very disappointing, I had high hopes that it would make the cut. I am very happy with the NPM product, but have to admit that the compliance checking piece was one of the reasons we purchased NCM. I hate to be harsh, but truthfully at this point I would say that compliance checking is not functional within NCM,…

I think I might be onto the problem. I believe the issue is found in the "Import devices from NPM" job. Looking at the merge wizard, you can pick and choose which columns to merge, and which to ignore. It looks like it is configured to merge the credentials fields, which are null for the devices in NPM (at least for…

Other item I was asking about: When I want to migrate from MS-SQL 2000 to MS-SQL 2005 backend, I just need to move the DB and re-run the database wizard, no need to reinstall correct? Thanks again for your help!

I hear you, this is the final piece that is needed for me to be able to remove/stop supporting a second NMS product.

Sorry, I meant to say as outlined in the following post:

Thanks Sean for the quick response - and Marcus for the confirmation!

I completely agree with aLTeReG0 that we do all at times fear making changes to environments we don't understand, and I appreciate the documents from R0bert and others that detail about what is changing and how we can all feel warm and fuzzy about it. Again, keep up the great work Solarwinds!

We use both NPM as well as NCM, the only piece that we have found that NCM is unable to do effectively is complete compliance checking of configurations. When I say that I mean SW can do some string checking using regexp, but you can't get it to to do interface level compliance checking (i.e. verify that you have "no ip…

That's exactly the symptoms Netlogix, thanks for the reply! Good to know that Solarwinds is already on top of it.

I found what I was looking for. I downloaded the latest mibs.zip file from the customer portal, and after extracting it and placing it in the correct directory I have the MIB I was looking for. After unzipping it the mibs.cfg is just over 489Mb. Looks like the one that I have loaded for NPM & NCM is old as well, I was…

Here is what the violation details look like for an interface that was missing the "no ip proxy-arp" startement.

Great, thanks for the information guys!

I have looked through the NCM admin guide, but it is not real clear as to what I should expect to see. I am running NPM/NCM on the same server, NPM existed there first so its syslog server was the one that was installed. I still see syslog events from within NPM. should I also be able to see events within NCM's syslog…

So if I run the utility it shows me the correct version for NPM, but when it shows for NCM does match what is displayed on the bottom of my NCM webpages. Version checker indicates: NCM 5.0 SP2 Web indicates 5.5 Anybody else see similiar?

Hi Marie, thanks for the note. We are primarily looking forward to the enhanced policy reporting features, for example presence/absence of specific commands at the interface level. We have a competitor's product which we can't retire until the policy reporting in NCM matures a bit more. Regards, Bob

Thanks Christine. The auditors we deal with like a nice pretty report from NCM that shows compliance for all devices. As I mentioned, devices in DMZs are not reachable via standard management protocols (http, telnet, ssh or snmp), and as a result we don't manage them in NPM/NCM. That does not mean however, that NCM can't…

Thanks Mark for the reply. We are not quite ready to upgrade NPM because of the hardware constraints on the current platform. We will probably just go ahead and run NCM standalone and get our feet wet, and reinstall after the upgrade of NPM. Love the products, keep up the great work!

Good morning Chris. Yes, the other inventory reports all display information. I can open a case if that is the preferred method, I just wanted to fish to see if anybody else saw similiar behavior.

Thank you Jiri, I appreciate the response. I do understand that this was the first release in which vulnerability reporting was revealed - and as I mentioned - the frameworks looks great! Please feel free to reach out to me as things progress, and thanks again for continuing to make a great product even better - we rely…

I also am unable to re-apply hotfix 2 as outlined in the aboved notes: "Attempt to downgrade Solarwinds Job Engine v2.0.3 is not allowed"

Hi Christineb - Can you give a bit of a hint if this functionality is expected to appear in 6.0? Thanks, Bob

Obviously meant NPM 9.5 SP2, not NCM. We are running NCM 5.5 as well...

OK, I think after some fiddling around I am able to get what I need for the time being. I would still like to propose that the policy reporter be enhanced to include some "IF CONDITION" checking. Here is a screen shot of my rule. Based upon the existence of an ip address on an interface, the interface must also have "no ip…
