The point is that for customers such as myself, we go to the well one time per year to do budgets, no exceptions for IT. No money budgeted for 2009 for new servers because the existing hardware was sufficient. We have already completed and submitted budgets for 2010 monies, and because the issue of CLR was not raised until…

I have to weigh in as another customer who was informed yesterday that I will not be allowed to continue to utilize our enterprise SQL cluster as a home for my Orion NPM database if I plan on upgrading to 9.5, as turning on CLR is not an option. This means the cost of a new server, SQL license, etc... Won't be happening…

Looks like you were on to it. I fired up wireshark (I love that tool!) and found that we have some devices that are sending snmp traps - not sure why as we don't have Orion configured to act upon snmp traps, only syslog events. As I am working my way through the devices the number of events in the eventlog are being…

Just to add my comments - another example why I love Solarwinds - quick resolution to the issue! Thanks Solarwinds support (Caroline)! P.S. UnDP rocks!
-
Thanks for the response. All syslog events are from a single vendor (well known network vendor), not more than 3-5 messages every 15 seconds. We are not doing any event supression, but we do alerts based upon basic things like interface/device up/down. We only do alerting within Orion (email notification, etc).

212764. Thanks Brandon I submitted it as a low priority, so I am not expecting quick response, but a valid response would be helpful. ;-) P.S. Just to be clear, I love Solarwinds and highly recommend the products we use (NCM/NPM) to peers I work with in the industry. The comments previously stated are suggestions for…

Yes we are seeing it in 9.1 Our environment: APP Server-1 houses appliations: NCM 5.0 SP1 & NPM 9.1 DB Server 1 houses NCM database DB Server 2 houses NPM database
-
Appears to be. I have wireshark captures of each instance (Engineers Edition & UnDP) and both show the remove device responding with the IP address of their peer.

NCM 5.5.1

Still waiting for the final word back from support, but it appears that this issue has to do with the volume of data the query returns, and the time it takes to return the data. Running the report locally (connected via RDP), it took 30 minutes for the report to complete on 221 devices, returning 66,479 records. The error…

I also encountered this issue after upgrading to 9.1, and the suggested fix did indeed take care of the problem. Thanks guys (and Thwack)! Now if you could just save me money on my car insurance.
-
I have to agree that it is more than just helpful to have an idea as to what is fixed in order to determine whether to install the SP. Most organizations who employ ITIL/change management process require a description of what changes are being implemented before approval is given. I opened a case with regard to the "Export…

Any response to this case? We are also seeing the same issue. Thanks, Bob

Walking the tree in Engineer's Edition returns valid data: CISCO-EIGRP-MIB cEigrpPeerAddr.0.1.0 172.28.0.221 CISCO-EIGRP-MIB cEigrpPeerAddr.0.1.1 192.168.28.49 But the Universal Device Poller indeed is showing garbage: cEigrpPeerAddr - LabelcEigrpPeerAddr0.1.0? 0.1.1?? 1

Thanks for the info Christine. I think we were looking more for what was suggested in the following post. I do like the custom html resource though, that is something that we can use in other areas.
-
Thanks for the reply Chris - I was pretty sure that support was really responsive - I didn't give it a thought that my spam filter might have gobbled up the response. Can you please ping the engineer and have them resend the message, I have a couple of questions for them. Regards, Bob

Thanks much Christine, I DO greatly appreciate the Solarwinds Team's efforts. Bob

An interesting read for those who are newbies on the subject of CLR and security concerns you can share with your DBAs: http://www.code-magazine.com/Article.aspx?quickid=0603031 Regards, Bob

Thanks Chris for clarifying this. I was also configuring the syslog events in NCM, rather than NPM. I guess this makes sense since NCM really doesn't have its own syslog server running. Once I got that configured in NPM it worked as advertised. Regards, Bob

Allison, this is indeed a great first step. I won't speak for others, but if I can get status information about my open cases via a web portal, include case history, then that solves half of the issues I see expressed in this thread: * Where is my ticket (open, closed) * Who is working on it, is anyone working on it... *…

I also upgraded to 9.5.1 yesterday, but found when I came in this morning that NCM was VERY unhappy, unable to download configs, etc.... Did some testing, and while trying to download a config from a single device, I received the notorius WEONLYDO! popup screen. Using the following post I was able to re-register the dlls,…

I just have NPM & NCM, and it shows the correct version for NPM.
-
Just a comment, the fix Gob provided resolves issue of the single line with white space, but did not resolve the issue I stated at the beginning of this thread, where there are multiple instances of the same message type displayed.
-
Once I registered on the SmartNet Total Care site I am able to continue with the Solarwinds product.
-
Thanks Greg, I have updated the mib.cfg on each of the products so looks like I am back in business.
-
Verified that my credentials were still intact this morning, so indeed the "Import" job configuration appears to have been the problem. I'm happy now! Regards, Bob
-
Good morning Doug, thanks for the reply. No we utilize a single NCM instance within our corporate network. As changes are made to DMZ devices, we copy the configuration to a text file, and manually import it into NCM via the configuration history tab on the individual node in NCM. This way all configurations of devices,…

Netlogix: Thanks for the suggestions, anything I can do to make it smoother is welcomed. Danielle: Here is the link I found: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/OrionServerMigration.pdf

Christine, can you elaborate a bit more on #1? What Steve is looking for is exactly what we are interested in as well.
