Lawrence Garvin thank you for the information. It allows me to better explain this to clients when needed. I would recommend that at times like this, when the version of Core is that drastic of a change, the release notes also include an explanation similar to this.

Currently there isn't a solution. In order to test WMI/SNMP/etc on nodes, node management rights are required. There hasn't been anything set to be able to limit the type of node management access. Currently I don't think there is a solution here. Fortunately though with the addition of auditing events, you can see if…

Have you tried alerting on group member status, rather than group status? You would also need to specify the sub groups in the alert.
-
Can you put a web based report in a details page now?

Looking into this through the NCM database the VLAN ID is going to be in two tables, VLANs and Bridgeports within the NCM database. The problem is that the NCM reports don't allow for custom SQL in either the writing or the filtering. However, this does not mean the information cannot be retrieved, even without a complex…

There are know known issues along those lines. As long as the properties are created and the schemas are updated, then they should be visible in both the Report Writer and Advanced Alert Manager. Regards, Matthew Harvey
-
Yea, I'm probably going to do the same thing, but kind of negates the web-based reporting aspect. Hopefully that changes if SolarWinds ever decides to remove the Report Writer.

Problem is I'm looking directly at the perfmon counters when I'm seeing this value. I'm in the midst of trying to figure out why this SolarWinds installation is having polling issues with both SAM and NPM and so far the JobEnginev2 is the only thing I can really narrow down.

Thanks Richard. The historical is what I was after. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you.

So far nothing.

As well for your alert, you'd want to use not all rather than none. The logic behind the scenes is set up where none would cause any of those conditions to still trigger. I'd also recommend using simple conditions rather than complex so have: Trigger when not all of the following conditions apply: Node Name contains…
-
It's simple enough by adding either ${Nodes.Caption} or even just ${Fullname}. The first variable will pull the specific Node the interface is apart of. The second actually pulls the interface name and node name as it's seen in the Interfaces table. Regards, Matthew Harvey Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

I'd recommend using the same IP it's being monitored with in Orion. If you are ok with attaching the walk of the device I can see what I can find in there for you. Regards, Matthew Harvey
-
Yes you can. This can be done via SNMP data collection. All you need to do is have the device configured with SNMPv2c and monitor it and its interfaces in NPM. By default, NPM will report bandwidth utilization on the ports.

Actually the app from the previous version will work. If you move the exe and the exe.config file, or copy them to another location, then add them back in after the upgrade, they will function. Note, that any upgrades or repairs may cause them to be removed again.
-
Another thing to do, to keep risks down, is only use read-only strings. Doing this ensures the requestor can only get information from the device, whereas read-write could allow changes. Limiting the level of access can also help keep the risks to a minimum and still allow for better monitoring than just ICMP. Regards,…

Are the credentials you are using for WMI local admin to the Hyper-V server?
-
Jeff, Can you send me the SQL you are using?
-
But how would I configure the monitor to alert anytime a DNS record is removed? From what I can tell the monitor is setup to just try to resolve a specified record. Would I have to create a monitor for every DNS record?

The "System Manager" in SolarWinds Orion hasn't been around since early v10 if memory services. All management is now done via the web console.

Marlbs, In one of my replies to you I posted this: However, doing some testing I found that if you have a pre 10.4 install, that you can copy the CustomPopertyEditor.exe and CustomPropertyEditor.exe.config into a 10.4 server and it works. It will open and it will allow you to see and manage the custom properties for the…

I'd disable them rather than delete them. If these were added by the system, then likely there's something referencing them and the chance of them being recreated when running the configuration wizard for any reason. Regards, Matthew Harvey

I've been told that in the next release of NPM/SAM that you'll have the ability to select specific values for hardware polling. This was brought to my attention due to an issue with VMWare hardware polling where the polling is still reporting on disks that no longer exist. As of now there's no way to be selective, but…

Most of the reports that I've ever been successful with I've had to create them manually.

There's an agent needed, but there is on inherent to the STM server that you can use. The ability for the proxy agent is to take some of the load off the STM server. Also, depending on the storage, you may have to use an SMIS-Provider. But otherwise, no, no agents on the storage side.

I'd check to see if HW Health is in the Poller Check Tool in the Orion install directory and run a check against those UCS devices to see if HW is truly supported. Regards, Matthew Harvey Loop1 Systems
-
I doubt SolarWinds support would be able to assist. I know they use the OpenManage install for the Hardware Health polling it does on servers. Is that what you are trying to get out of SolarWinds?
-
It's a GA and it is Storage Profiler. I'm guessing it has to be Storage Manager in order to use the Virtualization?
-
What is the message showing under each component? Initial poll in progress? Something else?
-
shack, the eventtype for application is 505 which looks to be SAM Application Down while Component is 507. While the message will state unknown, it uses the down event type.
