It looks like those ship with the dot 11 MIB but I've never actually configured one. are there options to turn on SNMP etc? Have you checked w/ Belair support? I know they'll try to sell you their management solution but if these really have dot 11 support there is nothing else you have to do on our end to make it work.

How long are you waiting for the down email? It takes 2 min to transition from warning to down.

To recitify the issue system wide go to Settings -> Network Sonar Discovery and setup a discovery there. Have it run daily and that will clean up any orphaned nodes.
-
Monitor all ports does work but it will not go back into historical data and assign ports. It only affects data going forward so on the reports it may initially look like it didn't take.

The KB has been corrected.

What size interfaces do you have flows enabled on?

Once you create the pollers click on Transform Results on the top of the UnDP main screen. From there just add the poller and add the column sum function.

NPM manages things in NPM and is meant to be a internetworking device manager. Toolset is meant to be a point and shoot trouble shooting tool for anything that will respond to it. That is the way they are used today but I see your point, that it would be good to have some point and shoot in NPM. I'll include the Product…

I See. DeviceVendor did not work for me but Device_Name does.

Hi branfarm, Can you post a screen shot? I'd like to see how similar this is to an issue that has been resolved. Andy

I understand your frustration when things don't run correctly. I'll talk to support and have them contact you. I believe with additional data from your installation we can help you get up and running. It will at least help us to understand what is happening there as it is not reproducable here at this point. Andy

Byron - can you post that in the feature request space?

I was unable to reproduce this. Please open a ticket with diags.

Look for the release in this quarter

Hi wburnam, The MIB Browser in toolset works well for this. * Open MIB Browser from the Classic Tools * Enter IP and read community string for the AP * Expand ISO, Memeber Body, US and click on IEEE 802dot11 * Click Get Tree If the standard dot 11 is supported this should return a bunch of OIDS. If it does not then Orion…

Hi Bryan, Obviously I was thinking faster than I was reading, at least that's my excuse... ;) I'll check into this some more. Andy

I'm having trouble figuring what the master dependencies group would accomplish. The groups and dependencies you show should do the job. Remember to not include the build 2 headend in the build 2 group. I usually name a remote child group something like "Bld 2 children" for clarity.

I was able to replicate it - looks like a bug.

Hmmm. That's not how I read it. I believe he wants to know about polling CPU utilization, which is done by stats polling, not ICMP. Of course anything the Orion box does affects the Orion CPU.

Just closing the loop on this thread. Donald is correct, the ASA platform supports traffic export as of OS ver 8.2 . See

Ah - try show MPLS interfaces. It is an MPLS tunnel. Here is a good blog about MPLS tunnnels. MPLS Tunnels Explained

Don't confuse Simple with Easy. ;) Is it an option to use SNMPv2c for these devices? BTW - If you had a Leno avatar I would have never offered to help. ;)
-
If you browsed the MIB on the device and the OID is not there, then you need to update the SNMP agent on the device, if there is an update and it includes the OID you are looking for. The ability to do this varies by vendor and device. Check with the vendor to see if it is possible with these backups.

Are the alerts showing up in the alert resource? Is the down condition showing up in events? This will help narrow it down to the alert trigger or the alert action.

Syslog Server Settings Use the following procedure as a guide to starting and configuring the Syslog Viewer. To start and configure the Syslog Viewer: 1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Syslog and SNMP Traps > Syslog Viewer. 2. Click File > Settings. 3. Click the General tab in the Syslog Server Settings…

This is noted on the KB * There is a bug in ASA versions prior to 8.2.1.12 that causes flow information to be reported from incorrect interfaces. I think this is what you are seeing.
-
Solarwinds' NetFlow Traffic Analyzer 3.0 supports sflow.
-
What you are probably seeing is the case when a device is down for a short time. The 2 minute delay keeps the alert from firing but when the device comes up the reset condition is true. If you eliminate the delay this behavior will stop. If you keep the delay just know that an "up" reset without a "down" = device down for…

Keep in mind that the original question was how to monitor NPM, not APM. So the solution is to use a product that is able to understand and react to issues that may happen on the NPM server. APM is probably the best solution for this case. Alternatively you could use a couple of our free tools like Web Transaction Monitor…
