No success. It seems Avamar uses Linux with NET-SNMP. NET-SNMP needs to go away - it is terrible to have to work with.

I just found your post. I'll look at our Avamar next week and try to find out more for you. We have about 20 Avamars in two grids along with Data Domain and Luminex. I only got pulled into monitoring these things this week so I don't know a whole lot just yet...

i usually just include any another object node which usually stays GREEN and you won't get the warning state. try placing something like that in the closet area. later on, once i get the real device object/node into Orion then i switch them out. HTH. LC

for that model you may want to reference this thread

It seems you might use the Custom Property for INTERFACES and assign those a common name like SerialLoadbalanced. Just making sure this property name is unique to those Interface IDs.

In the tab SYSLOG MESSAGE PATTERN did you use a pattern like this? *208*, \t, *sqlserveragent* I've never tried using the TAB (\t) but that's how it is mentioned in Regular Expressions help file. But there again, I even question if a SYSLOG Daemon would send a tab character, but maybe it is possible. Maybe you could try it…

after a closer look at the colors (after a longgg dayyy) - i figure BLUE is Min at Poll time and Light-Green is Max at that same Poll Time... How about the thresholds?
-
if you have login access to the IOS then some of the latest IOS releases have Cisco's embedded Syslog manager (ESM). it should give you this functionality to alter the origniating message. but if that is CatOS then you may be out of luck.
-
i don't think there's a magic bullet for this, so it will have to be done on a per-device basis because it seems that many Cisco devices have varying tolerances to temperature, which is based on device chassis, modules, etc and each can have different thresholds. also, some Cisco devices don't support a TEMPERATURE OID…

they are neither OPTIONAL nor CONFIGURABLE...(at least that was the answer I got a few months back)

update. i got through the upgrade fine w/o any problems - which was smooth as silk. (laptop with Vista and .NET 3.5 SP1 framework) the licensing was a bit bumpy but i got through it...great product interface now!!! thanks. if anyone recalls an issue with the MIB file i'd like to hear about that...

i am not sure this is exactly what you are looking for but it seems you could use APM's WMI to monitor this: select * from Win32_Share and then there are Instance Properties where one is called "STATUS" - all of mine show "OK" but perhaps you could use this to build your logic where Status<>OK ...good luck.

It does offer the sliding mouse pointer to adjust the size left-to-right But I don't know where this might be hardcoded.

Can anyone with Solarwinds explain to me what the CURRENT VALUE is for and also how to make use of it with Alerts? Thank-you!
-
here's two excellent documents which might get you started. i guess it really depends on your implementation. it seems you have to configure the snmp agent before getting any access to the mibs... i hope this helps. (if you see anything on EMC Clariion then i need help with those MIBs myself)…

if you haven't already done this, why don't you try to create a filter to maybe select a node list...watch for the results...then change it back to being empty and SUBMIT it and watch the results again. sometimes, just adding a FILTER and turning around and then deleting it will clear up this type of thing. undocumented…

...are there any Solarwinds Moderators who can help answer this?
-
here's something i made which might work for you. in the trap rule you have, add another action to log the trap to a file. in my case i used the file name of 'SMTP-Denied-traps.txt' but i placed it in this path C:\Inetpub\Solarwinds\Orion\Recent Traps\ i added a new view to the Solarwinds Orion home screen using the…

I've discovered some Brocade Silkworm 4900 switches into Orion and it shows their fiber port channels, plus I've used this particular OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.1588 successfully with the Universal Device Poller. I can see Fans, Power Supplies and such. That OID by the way identifies as vendor BCSI (I guess that B stands for…

I'm curious how you might handle issues in this case. Let's say you have one group supporting Solarwinds and another supporting Virtualization. When server 'lock ups' .etc happen, who do you call? Or if Orion web site is not responding because of some virtualization issue? Thanks
-
something i've discovered is with using Visio. i'll try to explain it. i usually remote into the Orion server and run Network Atlas from there. But back at my desktop where i have Visio, i bring up any stencil used in my various network diagrams/drawings. i highlight it with COPY - then using the clipboard - i remote back…

i'd like to know the answer to this as well - i've seen this same activity with certain Cisco switch models and can't understand why i see 'public' (i hadn't had the <null> though but it might be in the packet capture if i looked closely)
-
my two-cents opinion the Response Time looks OK but the Packet Loss might need adjusting according to WAN links in your network, you might even bring Response Time down to 700/300 or 800/400. we have many DSL and Cable Modem links which have a lot of packet loss and it (Packet Loss) would have to go higher in our case. i…

it has been my experience when i get this same 'error' i can fix it by going back to my SELECT FIELDS and include one of those fields i've referenced in the FILTER RESULTS tab. i may end of tagging it HIDDEN but it sure fixes it for me most times...hope this helps.

i did my first one this week. it is a VLAN TOP 10 UTIL report which i published into Orion. first, i made the report in Report Writer then went into MANAGE VIEWS, and ADD A RESOURCE and selected this one - REPORT FROM ORION REPORT WRITER: i navigated to the report and then gave it a Title and published it into the web…

You'll absolutely need SNMP access to the router. I'm using Orion Universal Device Poller (UnDP) to monitor our BGP AS of our vendor(s). Here's a screenshot of some OIDs from those MIBs.
-
my experience has been you have to include every port at first-discovery time then go back behind yourself and set those ports as 'unpluggable'. only later can you begin to find when they are 'active' or not. if there's a scheduled discovery in NPM which i'm missing then i hope we hear from SW staff in this thread. i have…

I'm thinking you'll have to use the application named SYSLOG VIEWER at your Orion server. Filter on your device info (name or IP) and then on the tab for SEVERITY/FACILITY (Message Level) just select that level you want to trigger on. And you can filter on a pattern inside the syslog message as well. Good Luck!

Are you using NPM 10.x and at a minimum SNMP v2? I have a couple of these discovered in Orion but don't recall having any issues. Here's some info: sysObjectID OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1116 Operating System 12.2(33)XNE2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) IOS Image PPC_LINUX_IOSD-IPBASEK9-M
