Displaying SNMP trap alerts on home screen

Hi

I am currently configuring our SAP system to send alerts using snmp traps to Solarwinds.

I have configured a number of rules to send out emails etc, but I was wondering if there was anyway of placing an alert on the home screen of Solarwinds to allow the helpdesk to see any alerts visually.

Can this be done?

here's something i made which might work for you.

in the trap rule you have, add another action to log the trap to a file.

in my case i used the file name of 'SMTP-Denied-traps.txt' but i placed it in this path C:\Inetpub\Solarwinds\Orion\Recent Traps\

i added a new view to the Solarwinds Orion home screen using the resource USER LINK.

inside that user link i placed this into URL #1 and checked 'Open in new window': /Orion/Recent Traps/SMTP-Denied-traps.txt

if you also have APM you can monitor this file's size so you can get alerted when it reaches a certain size and zap it and let it start over.
