Roger: I've assigned this (vbscript) APM monitor to that node where the Event ID 3003 is coming into the Application event log. And I don't really understand what I'm doing with it - but I altered the arguments this way, is this correct? -computer localhost -area Application -id 3003 -timespan 60 ...so my question is this…

thanks for the reply. yes, i believe you may be right. that sure seems logical it would be doing that. and it may actually be a good thing to detect something like a server which has 'auto nego' settings on. because we try to turn off 'auto nego' and fix the speed...fewer issues with the switch ports with doing that…

The report is EVENTS and the version is NPM 9.5 SP2.

My apologies. That may not be what you want for HOUR summarization. I had one made recently but did not save it. I'll try to recreate it and put it into this thread.

not sure this is what you mean, but i use UnDP for some things with Gauges like this VPN Concentrator's CPU. here's the guage & below is the UnDP.

Found the problem - the SNMP Service had the wrong Orion server name in the tab for SNMP security - "Accept SNMP packets from these hosts". Thanks.

It does add with ICMP. And I tried MIBwalk too, but no luck there.

It has not done this before. Isn't the 2am time when the daily Solarwinds SQL maintenance kick off? I have Orion on a Windows 2003 Enterprise server and the SQL 2005 database on another server. Here are three event messages from that time period in the Event Viewer SOLARWINDS.NET section: 2008-06-25 02:24:46,729…

I'm now at a loss of what value this has. Since we have multiple databases/applications on this server and only one application had an issue at the point in time of this high RESPONSE TIME poll. I passed on your info to our application group and we don't understand why other applications did not have issues.

is there any 'how to' documentation someplace about using wmi counters & SQL Query with the APM wizard? i'm still stumped... it seems the SQL Query would be ideal to check a Job Status in use by the SQL AGENT, but i'm no good building this sort of SQL query. i hope someone out there is already ahead of the game and can…

i too have the same issue... it has been several months since i did the research, but if i can recall it exactly, it is a fix with SNMP in a newer release of IPSO on the Nokia/Checkpoint. i'm at IPSO 3.7 - i think the fix comes in around release IPSO 4.2

I'll review all my UnDP pollers. I wonder if it was inserted by Storage Manager for its fiber switch support?
-
it's not dead, but there needed to be a SPACE before HTTP if you will remove the : colon from the front of the link then it will work try this one http://thwack.com/files/folders/pollers/default.aspx

and if that interface is showing up with the blue question-mark (unknown) then it may need be deleted before doing your List Resources.
-
what would be nice is including selective Monitors as child objects for these map objects...is that where you're going?
-
Do you think if I installed Outlook 2003 on this Orion server then it would be a workaround for the email client you've mentioned?
-
one other point of interest. sometimes the profile in Windows will not display/link (nor execute) a shortcut due to the login id. do you think this could be your case?
-
Yes, you are right. It is static from the controller. I was hoping I could keep it more dynamic by time periods or something. Thanks.

I've been using that document but it leans mostly to Cisco IOS. Any ideas with other than Cisco devices, like this one here?

Polling Node Status Polling:*(10-1200) seconds Collect Statistics Every:* (1-600) minutes The Time-Period is set 6am-6pm and summary is per hour. On another note: I pasted the above POLLING info from the Manage Node web page. Notice the items in red (10-1200) and (1-600). These don't actually display on the real web page -…

I might add... You could also include your Interface Caption in that NOT statement. Good Luck!

Thanks - I found it and will try it out. The selection named CUSTOM is kinda hidden and I probably would never have found it on my own.

I’m new to Linux and using SNMP with its operating system. So, would we need to manipulate the Linux file ‘snmpd.conf’? Maybe edit it and include the OID into this file or something, to establish an interface with Orion?

Thanks Marie. FYI - I just got some additional info about this, it is not in place yet, but I hope it will help this issue. Maybe the info will be helpful for others out there... policy-map global_policy class class-default flow-export event-type all destination x.x.x.x yy

We have EMC Clariion CX4-240 and CX400.

Brian, Where would I find these latency reports in our STM? We're needing to see trending. Thanks.
-
That works for Bps - thanks. I can live with the Pps until I know more about how to round it off. Thanks again.

My need comes from inhouse developers who support a very diverse application which sits across mainframe and distributed systems. It is their desire to see all these processes. I just work here... :)

Karlo, One question - I'm finding that the issue only generates an event after the system gets rebooted. Can this be done at the time of the change instead of waiting for a system reboot? Why can't the re-discovery pick this up before a reboot? Thanks, Larry
