I'd like to see this feature added as well. We have a naming convention here that can generate some crazy long host names.

Hey Satish, I'm glad to hear your report working. I'm not aware of any limit on the number of conditions on your filter page. Since I'm not really a DBA, I'm probably not the best person to answer that question. My guess would be that the only real limitation would be if you end up with so many conditions that all of the…

You can just add the custom property to your Filter Results tab. Add a new elementary condition and go to Network Nodes when you click on the * after the Records where condtion. At the bottom of the Network Nodes menu, you should have Custom Properties. Click that and your custom properties should be listed. Select the one…

Mav, We'd be interested in this feature as well. There is a tab in our IP tracking spreadsheet that tracks to which internal IP address our external addresses are NAT'd.

I can't speak for the others, but the problem for me has to do with there not being a lot of information in the admin guide about what each setting does and not really wanting to make a bunch of changes (especially in the database area) without having a good understanding of what I'm doing. I would conceed that each option…

Gerjan, I'm glad that's what you needed. I wish I could remember who posted that originally so I could pass your thanks on to them. Just keep in mind that this will break when Orion moves to supporting ASP.NET only. Hopefully there are people on here who will be able to help the rest of us update our custom asp code to…

If you want your report to just include data from Monday through Friday, you're also going to need to exclude Saturday and Sunday in the filter results tab.

If you log in as admin and look under Views, select Manage Views. Find "Node Details" in the list and highlight it. Then select Edit. This will take you to the Customize Node Details page. You'll see all the resources listed in each column for the Node Details page. Click the green plus icon next to the column in which you…

dtango2010, Try using this UnDP for getting an inventory of your modules. It should give you the slot number, software version of each module, each module's model number and finally each module's serial number. You can also try this UnDP for pulling the switch's serial number: It's a few years old but it probably still…

Brandon, Does the information you reference here include with which permission set the CLR assemblies are created to run? Our DBA's are asking if they are created to run with the SAFE permission set. They referenced the following MSDN link: msdn.microsoft.com/.../ms345101.aspx Any information you could provide to help me…

One thing you can try for troubleshooting purposes is to add an alert action to log the alert to a file. That will at least tell you if the problem is with the alert itself or if it's an email related issue. You have probably done this, but also verify that the SolarWinds Alerting Engine service is running. Hope this helps.

Hi Scott, You should be able to access the NCM reports from the Reports link on the NCM menu bar. You will need to run an inventory job first in order to inventory your nodes and populate the reports. You can run an inventory job by clicking the Update Inventory button in the reports section or you can schedule an…

meddle01, If your client wants the whole green dot/red dot thing, you could create a node map for him. Depending on which version you're on, you'd use Map Maker (pre 9.5) or Network Atlas in 9.5. You can get some pretty detailed maps if you spend the time to make them. You can add both nodes and interfaces on your maps and…

Thanks. After having spent a stupid amount of time trying to find out why I couldn't get layer 2 traffic from a 6509 with a PFC3A card, I figured I'd try to save someone else from the same waste of time!

What time frame are you using for your report? I don't think there is a way to make the graph display anything but a single day's worth of data for just business hours. For example, I don't' think you could run a graph for the last seven days and return data just for your business hours. With your report, if you set your…

My upgrade from 9.5 SP4 to 10 was pretty smooth. I have a primary poller, additional polling engine and an additional web server. I keep my users off of the web server on the primary poller though DNS. (Orion only resolves to the additional web server.) I keep the web server on the primary poller up for testing web reports…

Under the advanced alerts section of the alerts page will show you all of your active alerts. Make sure your users have rights to acknowledge alerts. The name of the person who acknowledged the alert as well as the time they acknowledged the alert will be shown on the page until the alert is either reset or manually…

If you've restarted all of your services (or rebooted your server) and verified that they remain running, I'd say it's probably time to open a case with support. You could always try running the configuration wizard to see if that fixes the problem, but support would probably be a better bet at this point.

Denny, We understand not every fix or feature can make it into each new release. However in the interim, as Network Guru suggested, can't the Update Schema button be added to the toolbar in the CPE? If for no other reason than to serve as a visual reminder to us that we've got to click it after an upgrade or service pack…

Thanks Brandon!

All of your scheduled reports are really just scheduled tasks. If you open Scheduled Tasks in the Control Panel, you should be able to right click the tasks that are running and select End Task.

firehawk_350, As far as I know, the NTA is just a netflow collector. It doesn't have any way to forward the netflow streams it receives to your QRadar box. You can configure netflow (at least on Cisco boxes) to export to multiple destinations. Just add another "ip flow-export destination" statement. Hope this helps.

Nick, To remove items from your home page, just go to the Admin section of the web console and select Manage Views. Find the view for your home page in the list of views, highlight it and click the edit button. This will allow you to add or remove resources from the column(s) of that page. Hope this helps.

Jay, Are you receiving NetFlow data on your other interfaces ok or do you not receive any data at all? I get the same message for all of our Cisco routers that are providing VoIP stating that Interface #3 is unmanaged. On our routers, interface #3 is the Integrated-Sevice-Engine1/0 interface. I don't monitor that…

Thanks to all who replied. I went ahead and installed SP4 yesterday and everything seems fine.

Mav, I'd be interested in the results of your findings as well. I'm currently doing the same thing Keith is, designing a monitoring solution for our UC environment using our Orion environment. We have some of the components of the Cisco Unified Management suite (Operations Manager, Service Monitor, Server Statistics…

I know this isn't the beta forum but just out of curiosity, once node grouping becomes a production feature, would it be possible to group all his VPN devices into a group and then exclude them from alerting based on the group membership? That might be easier to manage in an enterprise environment than custom properties.

You can also check the Cisco Catalyst 6500 NetFlow configuration guide here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_example09186a0080721701.shtml On 6500s, there are a couple of things that will determine how much Netflow data you'll get. In order to get both routed and bridged traffic…

Craig, I've been asked by my manager to do an eval of the VoIP module for Orion. It looks like the IP SLA Monitor module goes live at some point today. Do you know when it a 30 day eval for the IP SLA Monitor will be available for download? Thanks, Kevin

No. The Enterprise Operations Console is only if you deploy multiple full versions of Orion. For every Orion environment, you have a primary Orion server. For a one server installation, that primary Orion server is the polling engine as well as the web server for Orion. If you purchase an additional polling engine license,…
