lchance, I think I understand what you're trying to do, but I'm not sure that interface is where I'd try to do it. Instead of setting custom bandwidth settings on the ethernet port for the aggregator, I'd set custom bandwidth settings on each of the uplink intefaces for your DSL modem (1.54 Mbps receive, 384 Kbps…

Ondrej, Thanks for the info. I appreciate you creating the feature request for me! Thanks again, Kevin

I don't think you really need a complex condition. I have a similar report where I filter on a custom property that isn't empty. I don't know if this will make a difference, but you could try the following: Select records where all of the following apply Records where LAN_WAN is not empty Records where Day of Week is not…

CRK, As far as alerts go, the threshold is set in the alert. There are several canned alerts that you could use, but the nice thing about alerts are they are highly configurable. You can set up an alert to send you an alert based on whatever threshold best fits your environment and business policies. I would recommend…

Yeah, you might need to ask SW. I even see them when using an account without View Customization rights. It kind of looks like all you need are Manage Node rights. Here is a screenshot showing you where they should be. Not sure why you can't see them. Maybe someone from SW can tell us what might be causing you not to see…

Jon, If you log in as admin, go to the Admin page and go to Manage Views, you can select the view you created and click the edit button. At the bottom of the page next to the Done button should be a Preview button. That will bring up the view in a seperate browser. You will see that view as the admin account. You should…

Glenn, It sounds like could be a permissions issue on the C:\InetPub\SolarWinds folder. You might check the permissions on the web site folder in the InetPub directory to make sure that account has access to the SolarWinds folder and subfolders. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you mean how will you see traffic coming into both sides of the router, you'll have to add the ip route-cache flow statement to each interface's config. If this isn't what you mean, just let me know. config t (config)#int ser0/0 (config-if)#ip route-cache flow (config-if)#int…

You can get the same subcomponent status on a nested map. If you log in with admin rights and look on the admin page under the Settings section, select Web Console Settings. The 6th item down under web console settings is the Status Rollup Mode. If you set it to Mixed Status shows Warning, you'll get the sub component…

I'm not sure if this changes in v9 (I'm still on 8.5.1 sp3), but if you select "Group of Nodes" under Account Limitation on the user's account, you should get a list of all the nodes in your inventory. You just scroll through the list and check the box next to the node you want that user to be able to see. Hope this…

I posted that before someone pointed me to the solution I posted above. What are you trying to do in System Manager? There isn't much functionality left in that tool. Most of the admin work has been moved to the web console.

You can ignore that line. It happens sometimes when I cut and paste text into a post.

Being able to exclude a device based on a custom property could be useful as well.

Glad you got it working. If you need them, you can use the following OID to grab the serial numbers from your ASAs: 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11 CiscoASAserialNumbersALL The vendor-specific serial number string for the physical entity. The preferred value is the serial number string actually printed on the component itself…

Mikejay, Personally, I normally just use advanced alerts, as I have found them to give me more flexibility in what I monitor and alert on. I haven't used transmit port bandwidth before, but I assume that monitors the actual bandwidth of the interface you are monitoring. For example, if you are monitoring a multilink…

That's correct. On the SQL tab on the modified report, you won't be able to modify the SQL query. The only way you'll be able to change the SQL query directly is to copy the SQL code from your report and create a new report. When report writer asks you what type of report you want to create, select Advanced SQL. Paste the…

Satish, I've never done it, but have you tried using hours greater than 20 and hours less than 08? I'd say try that and see what data you get as the output. If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to go with Questionario's suggestion and use an Advanced SQL statement. That would require more SQL coding than I remember…

It is possible to filter out Saturday and Sunday and just have data reported for business hours. All you need to do is add a few filters to your filter results tab on your report. You can add a new elementary condition and use the Date/Time (Traffic filtering only) option to select Day of Week and Hour of Day filters. I've…

Simon, Check out this thread: Basically, you'll need to create a Universal Device Poller for the serial numbers. You can also create one to get model numbers, if you want that information as well. Then you'll create an Advanced SQL report based on the one in the thread above. Hope this helps!

I've got a main SLX server running the NetFlow module. That box is a quad 2.8 GHz Xeon with 8 GB of RAM. It runs between 15% and 25% on the CPU and uses about 1.5GB of RAM. I also have a secondary polling engine which is a quad 3.0 GHz Xeon with 4 GB of RAM. This server runs between 5% to 15% CPU and uses almost 2GB of…

I think you're probably correct. The only way I can think of is if you have stored backups of your database, you could try to pull the events out of each backup until you have 90 days worth. It's been a long time since I've done any sql recoveries, so I couldn't begin to tell you how to go about doing that.
-
I'd have to agree, there should be some easily discernible way for one to know a polling engine is having an issue.
-
Yeah, I've been waiting for the dust to settle too.

Damien, I don't know how (or if) you can reverse the red/green on the gauges. I looked through the different gauge styles and none of them have the red/green reversed. I think you're only option would be to pick a gauge that doesn't have red/green on it. As far as setting alerts based on the values, you can use advanced…

Brent, We've only got one APC UPS that we monitor (most of ours are Lieberts). On the one APC we have, there is a MIB for upsBasicBatteryTimeOnBattery that we monitor. OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.2.1.2. Description: The elapsed time since the UPS has switched to battery power. Anything other than 0 would indicate the UPS is…

Making it a selectable option would certainly benefit shops like ours where most of our almost 3000 nodes are from a single vendor. For now, I just make sure the first device I want to add to a map isn't at the bottom of the list!

Brian, Are you still having problems with the size of your wireless tables after going to SP4? I'm running into the same issue. I spoke to support today, but the engineer I spoke with wasn't aware of any fixes in SP 4 that address the size of the wireless details tables. His recommendation was to either reduce our detailed…

Peter, This might vary based on IOS version but on my 2800s and 3800s, in order to receive Netflow data from subinterfaces, I've had to add the ip route-cache flow or ip flow ingress/egress statements to the individual subinterfaces I want flow data from. Just something you might try to see if it helps in your environment.

Yeah, sorting through and clicking 19,000 switch ports isn't my idea of a fun time either! Your other option would be to create a Universal Device Poller to search for whether an interface is trunking or not. This OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.9.3.1.8 ) returns two values, 1 = trunking and 2 = notTrunking. Entering this OID when…

They support NetFlow, but they are utilizing Netflow for security event logging. It isn't real time traffic data as on their routers. Denny covers it here:
