As far as only showing rows you're interested in, you can edit that "Tabular Universal Poller" resource and uncheck the boxes for the rows you don't want to see in the "Select rows to display" section. Now to be able to filter them on the poller side so they don't even get polled would be really cool So far all I've been…

This is true, the only way around it is to filter the entire view for now.

I agree with Mike! There are way too many benefits of SNMP to do away with it. Especially for Linux/Unix environments which are already challenging enough to monitor. Properly configured it's just as safe as any method of monitoring imo. Kris Maxwell www.loop1systems.com

**Update** For those using this resource for the first time in version 10.5(in other words you didn't have it added previously in 10.4,10.3, etc) you will need to run the NPM Config Wizard and select Website to bring in the new resource. After the Config Wizard is done the first time you use the "Add Resource" dialog…

I've got it working in version 10.5. Here's a screenshot of how to find it in the "Add Resource" dialog. Kris Maxwell www.loop1systems.com

Which nodes are missing?

I know this is an oldy, but I was messing with it today and ran into the same problem. I did however come up with a couple solutions - Option one - change the path to - /Orion/NetPerfMon/Resources/FilterNodes.aspx Or option two - on your Orion NPM server(or the box hosting the web site) - in IIS manager 7.0 under "Request…

Are you trying to use NPM's Database Manager app to do the database backup? If so (and there's no other option available like MS SQL Server Mgmt Studio), you'll need to give the NPM SQL acct privileges to the NCM database. For privileges make sure the acct has the "db_backupoperator" role. Also, which version of NPM are…

ding This is outstanding news!! A lot of our clients are going to be very very happy to hear about this

Which version of OpenManage did you install? Also, did you check in List Resources to see if the Hardware Health option shows up?
-
Excellent write-up on the subject!

Hey John, send me an email - kris.Maxwell@loop1systems.com I'd be more than happy to take a look at it with you.

That's a really creative use of NCM wluther! You're absolutely right about the platform being "bendable". My experience with SolarWinds started off with SAM many moons ago, so I used that module to do the same sort of thing. If I remember correctly, I used a script based component that included a restart command for the…

You could also forward the syslog events from the server in question to the Orion syslog service and build an alert there based on the # of events in a defined time range. SW makes a real small footprint app to do that, or if it's a 2008 server you can do it natively. Kris

Have you disabled the native HPUX snmp agents/procs? If they are running it will cause a conflict.
-
You should be able to accomplish this using a TCP Port Monitor component. You'll need to add the endpoint node to Orion(you can use ICMP only if needed), then build an application with the mentioned component and specify port 23 and then assign the app to the endpoint node.

The resource is in - Top XX Lists - Top Response Time, CPU Load, Packet Loss, Traffic, etc.

Check the site's bindings in IIS to make sure there's no dupes or anything messed up there.
-
Another option is to use syslog forwarding from your EVA Management server to your NPM server. I've done that in the past for EVA 6400 & 8400's, but not 100% sure about the HSV200. You can use SolarWinds free log forwarder app to do it.

Yep, click "Customize Page", then add a View Limitation based on the custom property you want to filter by. Kris Maxwell Loop1 Systems kris.maxwell@loop1systems.com

These are not the alerts you're looking for.. It sounds like there is another alert enabled for errors. You'll need to audit your enabled alerts and track down the offending one.
-
I ran into that same problem and did some research today. The info below is what I figured out - The email notification was coming up with no processes listed at all. I tracked it down to a timeout issue(I had reset the trigger conditions on the Client's CPU/Memory alerts and there ended up being about 50 or so triggering…

Any update on this feature request?

Do you already have Net-SNMP running on the system? If so, you'll need to modify the snmpd.conf file to add access for the Orion Core/Pollers. If not you'll want to disable the native HPUX snmp agent if it's running and install Net-SNMP. Kris

Make an "Any" condition group with the names of the servers in it below the condition for the space free. It'll look like Trigger alert when all of the following apply Volume Percent Available is less than or equal to 5 Trigger alert when any of the following apply Node name is equal to Server1 Node name is equal to…

It's in the AlertStatus table. Message was edited by: Kris Maxwell - added correct table.

I believe you are correct. You'd have to use Orion SAM to monitor those with either a Oracle User Experience Monitor component or a Linux/Unix script monitor component. Kris Maxwell http://www.loop1systems.com
-
If you're referring to whether or not the SNMP service is running on the box, yes you could set up a Windows Service monitor for it.
-
What flavor of SNMP are you using? Native HPUX or Net-SNMP? I ran into a lot of issues with native HPUX SNMP and had to switch to Net-SNMP. Kris Maxwell http://www.loop1systems.com
