When we were sold NPM, nodes were the only thing mentioned. We found out about the other 2 through usage. I might have griped about that a little when it happened....

Are UDP ports 161 and 162 open between the device and the poller?
-
I imagine it similar to a tracert. If the signal/snmp has to go through a device to get to the device being monitored then there should be a dependency option. I like nickzourdos representation of what the interface might look like. I have multiple nodes that pass through 3 or 4 routers/switches before getting to the…

My event log is poulating with the alerts. I am not seeing any email errors in the log. The email test works. It seems that there is a disconnect between the alerting rules and the email path. I'm not getting any emails sent from Orion other than the test, pre or post.

In the Device Poller configuration tool, the Get Table radio button was selected and it needed to be the Get Next radio button to get the Gauge options on the following configuration page.

Yes, what John said. It's very clean. Well done.

I submitted a ticket to support and I'll post the response once it's figured out.

Arrgh... spoken like a true shellback.

It's possible that the 3rd referral did not email Katie. I believe that was part of the requirement for points.
-
Per the March Mission rules, there were 20 questions at 150 points each. If you got them all correct it would be 3000 points.

We are currently using V 10.4 When adding a node and selecting Most Devices: SNMP and ICMP - Recommended You will see an option to select your SNMP version. Selecting SNMPv3 gives the options listed above.

After updating to NPM 12.1 and VIM 7 (separate install) I was able to successfully test and use VMware 6.5 credentials and vCenter polling. NPM 12.1 is the last to support SQL 2008 so updating SQL in our environment will be one of the next projects.
-
I can log into the host with the same credentials so I don't believe the credentials are incorrect. Apparently VMware 6.5 presents them differently.
-
I believe the field is empty because the Gauge was not selectable when I configured the Orion web view portion of the Poller.
-
As stated in the earlier post, when I attempt to add a Radial Gauge through Customize Page , the drop down is blank when it asks to select the Poller. That is why I believe I may need to change polling options in the Poller configuration. I had seen another post where is suggested that Rate or Counter option needed to be…

I downloaded the 11.5.2 install from the portal. It had Hotfix 1 in the zip file but I was not aware of Hotfix 4. I'll have to search around and see what I can find.

I am the Exchange team as well as the Monitoring team. I checked the queues on the server and they are not being held up there. As I referenced above, I can to a test from the Orion NPM Settings page under SMTP management and the test delivers fine.

So I take it your not coming over for Thanksgiving dinner?
-
We're running Dell SecureWorks, which might be causing an issue. The node is a router, or were you thinking SEP on the poller/Orion box?
-
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but the machine type is showing up now as "Cisco SG300-28P" for those devices (which is correct). The IOS Image still shows as "unknown".

Funny that you mention that. I'm in the process of taking away 2003 as we speak. There are many tears to be found. The river runs past my office.

There has been some discussion about setting up an "Thinking Outside the Box" thwack group. This would be exactly like what we would want discussed. Props to you for your ingenuity and you willingness to share.

Our NOC view is still a work in progress, but I'm liking some of the ideas presented.

Looks like it has to go through or if you want to create a new group. Lots of tasty thwack points for it though! http://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/solarwinds-community/community-vibe/blog/2012/05/16/get-social Hope the link helps.

+1 to Leon Adato answer. The Sales Team will tell you that it's Nodes but you will usually bump into Interface and Volume limitations first since most network nodes have lots of interfaces and most server nodes have lots of volumes. Just be aware that whatever node limit they gave you applies as an interface and volume…

The earned points usually show up a week or two into the next month. maria.bungau and DanielleH are the ones who apply the points. They will show in the upper right hand corner next to your name.

Bah!! Back to normal now...

Such a pretty shade of blue.
