I really didn't have this "issue" until I got brand new servers finally, YEAH!, and unfortunately my organization chose to size the OS partition (c: drive) to the smallest size possible, Booooo. This has gone on for way to long without notice from both the user community as well as development.

I have 15 additional pollers, this better not take all weekend...

yup, only question I missed.... Thanks

Re-Run the ConfigWizard and only check the Database box

I hijacked it last week... I gave up on the chart, nice but not required, some days it works others it doesn't Second issue is an invalid column access. I have deleted the 2 enties in the Syslog_who.asp file and I no longer get the invalid column when click on the "who" section of the table. But I do get the error when…

Okay I'll re-phrase: (elements was a poor choice of words on my part) if you go look at what the All Nodes resource (\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Resources\0-1-NodeLists\01-AllNodes.Resource) is doing, you will quickly realize that the web server has to wait for the loop to complete and for the loop to complete the web…

I used a custom property called "Notes" and to get them back to a Null value I run the following SQL querys from the DB server using SQL Query Analyzer once a week: update Nodes set Notes = NULL Where Notes = ' ' and the same for interfaces: update Interfaces set Notes = NULL Where Notes = ' '

The loading times with the All Nodes resource is not a new issue for 8.5... I posted this last year pre 8.0: Many of the resources will be slow(er) as you increase the amount of elements (nodes/intercase/volumes) you are monitoring. Depending on the size or amount of what you are monitoring has a tremendous impact on the…

spandy, have you tried this?

Hey NG, while you are waiting for your new toys study up on this link, it explains the ins and outs of SQL server performance tunning with very easy to understand instructions and down to earth reasoning. I just did the audit last weekend and man the Historical reports run just as fast as loading a Node Detail page! No…

Thanks for the info Mark, thats more than I got from Support... I'll ask my CIO to stop "freaking out" ;-)
-
Denny, Got a projected date for SP2 yet... other than "soon"... ;-)

There is a much easier way to see this data... Create a custom view and add the Polling Engine Status, its under Miscellaneous, then add that view to your Admin Menu Bar... Gives you all that info and more for all polling engines on one page. As for what the polling completion statistic represents: I vaguely remember…
-
Long is correct, before doing the upgrade I would strongly recommend that you perform a manual table compact/re-index via the database manager.
-
Torrie, Maybe that the Admin account is the only account with the Allow View Customization box checked?

Mark, NO change... :( 6/27/2007 10:54 AM Error Opening MainTaskDataReader Line 4: Incorrect syntax near ')'. Line 6: Incorrect syntax near ','. Line 7: Incorrect syntax near ')'. Holy Cow!!! The manual maintenance you suggested has cut the DB size in half! Do you know what the difference is between the nightly maintenance and the 'manual' maintenance? The nightly maintenance does the statistical roll-up among other things, the manual maintenance only compacts the tables and rebuilds the indexs in…

new bo-bo error: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Unrecognized chart name "SyslogMsgsRate" Parameter name: chartName

rob, On your system, how many records are returned from this query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TrapVarBinds WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT TrapID FROM Traps WHERE TrapVarBinds.TrapID=Traps.TrapID)

What's to hate Well besides the fact that it takes a right long time to load and to apply custom pollers, it doesn't clean itself up very well when you remove a poller. Just a few issues that adds to the hate, but on the flipside I do remeber having to do custom pollers from scratch...
-
Yes I did, after I removed the old file and put Gob's latest chart file in there. (Syslog-NetPerfMon 21.08.zip) It was painful, but works great now.

I don't expect the Dev Team to fix this, and my brain isn't in SQL mode today for some reason... No go on the "fix" (new error) System.Xml.XmlException: Name cannot begin with the '=' character, hexadecimal value 0x3D. Line 19, position 48. at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at…

Thanks for the info Casey!!! I'm going to give it a shot right now

In addition to. I try to keep up with it on a weekly basis, but certainly do the manual DB maint once a month (on every table); it makes everything run alot smoother (especially historic reports.)
-
Man, I knew you were going to say that... There is no way I'm stopping 9 polling engines and a Hot-Standby server, just because my backup admin can't type, or pay attention... :-) It would probably be easier to get a new backup admin... JUST KIDDING

Eric, After I upgraded to 8.1, I have the same errors apearing 2 at the same time every hour. I have a case open with Support - 9272 I just boosted the SWNetPerfMon.DB Timeout settings, so I'll let you know in an hour or so... 6/27/2007 08:54 AM Error Opening MainTaskDataReader Line 4: Incorrect syntax near ')'.
