Wow, that was easy! I was looking through the Report Writer thinking something this simple was going to be a daunting task. I didn't even think to look at the Web Console report manager. Thanks!
-
Thanks but, unfortunately those variables are for alerts. In the Orion Web console's "Group Details" views, those don't seem to work. The most frustrating one that's not supported is "${GroupID}" or "${ContainerID}".

Color me interested.

Thanks!

tyler.peterson, is the "SolarWinds NCM Connector for Cisco SmartAdvisor" officially supported by SolarWinds? If we run into issues, are we able to contact support for assistance? Will there be any further updates? The latest version was released 12/21/2016. Cisco recently released version 4.0 of their Cisco Smart Net…

I'm getting this as well.

I'll be completely honest, I didn't review any study materials ahead of time. I don't mean that in a braggy way, just wanted to test my knowledge and my employer was fronting the bill.

The tech ran into numerous errors when trying to reinstall with the individual installer from the installers directory. He also tried to run the main install but, that failed as well. I did end up having the latest snapshot restored and was able to resolve the CPU issue as well. I guess the purpose of this post was more so…

Lol, nah. Hardware stats on the server are well below 50% utilization even at peak load. The polling engine is in a very beefy virtual environment in Cisco UCS. I couldn't tell you specifcs as I'm just a simple network engineer, my server engineers/DBAs tell me the servers are healthy. Also, our environment's polling…

2. There are several areas in the product that notify/alert on capacity. I understand that approaching/exceeding 100% for the Polling Rate will alert you in Orion. My main (and only) polling engine has been at 124% polling rate for some time now without any repercussions. I'd like to know how Orion adjusts the default…

First off jeff.stewart, thank you very much for taking the time to respond! Some followups: 1. This depends on the version of Core you’re running. With the newer versions you’ll just need to apply a key, some of the other versions required you to install the APE again and then apply a key. Let's say for arguments sake,…

Ok, so I'm hoping to get some straight up answers to questions I think others and myself have that haven't been definitively answered. 1. Does installing a Stackable Poller License (shortened as "SPL" from here on) on an existing SLX licenced ("Unlimited") Orion polling engine add any additional features, install any…

jxchappell, Thanks for taking the time to offer to look at this. Perhaps GoldTipu could answer whether anything is installed on the server directly?
-
jxchappell, I appreciate your input on the topic and your insight on how you are using stacked pollers. The questions that have been raised by myself and others (sja, dfairles, nickzourdos, mbird) haven't been directly addressed by GoldTipu or anyone else at SolarWinds . If my hardware is able to handle the load of…

Kiwisyslog move the snmp trap and syslog away from the pollers forward only the important stuff.. sja, you piqued my interest with this. We have all our syslogs and traps being processed by NPM currently and I know there is a pretty significant overhead with this on our only polling engine. How would one use Kiwi Syslog…

I would like to know this as well.

GoldTipu, Any updates from the team after 3 years in development?
-
GoldTipu, I'm well aware of the documented software limitations in NPM and where they are documented in their respective Admin Guides. I was also well aware before this topic that the "Unlimited" licenses aren't by definition unlimited and I am fine with that. The problem I have is that from the customer point of view or…
-
The problem I have has to do with paying more money to overcome the software limitations in Orion. I'm already paying a significant amount of money for a license that's labeled as "unlimited". I fully understand that all applicaitons have inherent software and hardware limitations but, when I have to present the purchase…
-
I know I'm missing something here. If you already have the server hardware to handle the performance and you already have the SLX "unlimited" license, then why do you need an additional license to support more elements? Wouldn't any number of elements be supported under the "Unlimited" license as long your server can…

xtraspecialj , I believe he's referring to this: 5/23 Live Webinar (NA): Putting Your Logs Where They Belong with Log Manager for Orion

If the "Next Generation Orion Mapping" tool included even half the items you mentioned, I'm pretty sure I'd cry tears of joy!

* Remote Collector - New, agent based collector for distributed environments and hybrid deployments YASS!!!! This sounds like what I'm looking for in https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/6038#start=25

Whoa. Count me in.

I also saw cobrien's NetPath presentation at the Chicago SWUG. I agree many times over, the detailed overview was really helpful in giving me and my fellow engineers enough confidence to use NetPath consistently for troubleshooting. Due to the proprietary nature of NetPath, SolarWinds documentation is quite…

* Integrated search Yaaaaaasssss!

If you have the Engineer's ToolSet, you can use the web version that integrates with NPM to launch the Interface Monitor from the node or interface page. This will show you near real time bandwidth among other details.
-
Same here.
-
NOOO! Not the micro pollers. ugh, I was really looking forward to those.
-
Ah ok, so misinterpreted I have. Thanks for explaining that to a simple network engineer
