  • I don't know if you can buy these in the Sates http://www.climate-monitor.co.uk/products/index.html but they are very good and can have other monitors on them apart from temperature. They're not that expensive either. HTH Jon
  • BA If I remember correctly there is functionality in NPM Atlas that isn't supported in EOC and this is one of them. HTH Jon
  • I don't know about syslog for the WLC4400 but currently the wireless add-on does not support the Cisco WLC kit. Jon
  • I've followed yout instructions for creating the advanced alert but the e-mail I receive is missing the temp and just shows the macro see below Warning 7/11/2007 2:51 PM - PHMDP01_ServerCab3_UPSENVIRO is ${CustomPollerStatus.Status} Have I missed something obvious, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Jon
  • Nope, I've tried and can't get any Cirrus functionality. I think it's partly die to it not being a full implementation of IOS and Cirrus not fully supporting it. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • The script I use for our 3750's is archive download-sw /overwrite tftp://192.168.51.65/c3750.tar wr reload It works a treat and will upgrade multiple switches in a stack. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • Ed I've just finished upgrading our 2950's using a script in Cirrus, see below it's porbably not as efficient as it could be but it worked for us. It does a single switch at a time. Once I had upgrade the firmware to a batch of switches I scheduled a reboot of those switches for early morning and that worked great for us.…
  • Chris Do you have and ETA for v8, originally it was meant to be Q4 05 now it's gone quiet from Solarwinds and it would be great to get a least some of the features that everyone wants sometime soon? Also do you have any word on when the new Alert engine is going to be released as a live product or are they waiting for v8?…
  • Currently Orion does not support custom mibs, but hopefully this will be sorted in the next major version. So whatever solution you decide on you will not be able to get the stats in a Orion until mibs are supported. We use the enviromental monitoring capability of our APC UPS. Hope this helps? Jon IT Infrastructure…
  • My top four would be (Can't think of a fifth) A full Web enabled management frontend ie add, remove new devices, mapmaker, report writer everything you have to do from the Orion server. Complete integration between Cirrus & Orion. More export to web option of the toolset giving the ability to view in Orion ie IP address…
  • You can't, system manager will only work from either the main poller or a remote poller.
  • 1. Closer integration with Orion - general 2. Automation of Cirrus reports and configs into Orion rather than having to fiddle to get it working 3. Notification when a device is added to Orion it's automatically added to Cirrus or some sort of notification is shown the next time Cirrus is opened. 4. Being able to right…
  • I would be great that If I ran a report for a particularly switch along with the switch detail it would also return the MAC, IP address and computer name of the device attached to a port. This would be an excellent step forward and save us a great deal of time in tracing patch leads from user ports to the switch in our…
  • You can create maps remotely but you have to copy them to the NPM server before they will show up on the web site. IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • This also happens with the 2960 and its a pain particularly with Cirrus as a lot of our script used the model as a filter. I think Cisco moved the location of the Model number in there MIB.
  •  Have you already got a TFTP server installed and running?
  • Thanks Ryan this will be very useful. One problem I do have some of our core equipment has multiple links between one another, when I add these as lines on the map if automatically puts them next to each other which when using the in and out utilisation macros overlaps each other significantly. Is there anyway of spreading…
  • Tandberg VCS Expressway 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0
  • I've installed v4 and for our 2960's and 3560's we're still seeing Cisco as the Machine Type and this is absolutely useless when we run a lot of our scripts based on the Machine Type. Thanks Jon
  • Doesn't the traceroute that comes with engineers do the same thing as pathping, it continually pings it hop and gives any packet loss. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • My 3 enhancements would be:- The ability to run certain tools as services ie the IP address management tool etc Greater integration with Orion ie again the IP address management being able t be viewed in Orion, I know this is being worked on by Chris at ASL but it would be useful to do this with other tools Web frontends…
  • Login no enable, then show running-config (has to be the full command) there isn't a show startup-config. I don't think it can help not being fully Cisco and being a combination of Cisco and Airspace CLI.
  • It looks like I made the right decision and stayed on 7.8.5 and I think I'll stay there until a more stable version is released and full functionality in the Custom MIB and Adv Alerts works. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • Rene Check your hardware and make sure they're not running hot also check your polling and stats collection intervals and the number of elements your monitoring as these can all cause "white-outs" in data either individually or a combination. We were having a similar problem after we added two new switches and what we…
  • I can't comment on APM or Traps as I don't use either. But I wouldn't have a complaint with the overall reliability or stability of Orion NPM it has its problems but has come a hell of a long way since we first installed the product in 2003. I would say that 95% of products out today have some sort of problem with them…
  • I've had similar problems in the past with some of our 3COM 4400 stacks and managed to track it down to SNMP and ICMP on the switch because of the way the primary switch acts as the SNMP interface for the stack it was very slow and also at times we were missing pings and stats. We later found out the 3COM stacks SNMP and…
  • Don, Would it be possibler to add a feature to the alert reset that is customizasble by us, what I'm thinking off is the ability to add a reason why the Node\Interface triggered the alert, as our alerts get sent to everyone and there pet dog and rather than having to send out a sperate e-maile or phone everyone if we could…
  • quote:Originally posted by trm33 I just talked to sales and they said v8 will not be out until 3rd quarter. If that's true then we are not going to get many upgrades or extra features for the best part of 8 months, assuming of course that they keep to the schedule and it doesn't drop off into 2007.
  • Danocoh. while I agree with you over the features and functionality requests that have been banded around for the past few years and need to be put into Orion free of charge, I definately don't agree with your comments on the syslog server I think it was a great addition and works very well particularly with devices we…
