Good topic and excellent post. mr.e your comments were right on par with what I was thinking. The oversharing of information makes social engineering so much simpler. We need to as security professionals educate and do as much as we can to only encourage sharing what needs to be shared. Vegaskid I appreciate the thought…

Due to the sensitive nature, Healthcare is cautious about cloud and security entailed with it. Virtualization is solidly taken hold and BYOD is readily accepted. Just the storage and interaction with PHI that keeps core out of the cloud.

I used the wankiller app for some MetroE connections. The ability to generate traffic helped me tune the connections for the specific applications.

I bookmarked this page for future reference. Thanks!

I think that the biggest hurdle in small to medium sized companies is the learning curve to get the IT staff up to the level that can support the driving change from the Business. It seems trivial to us in the trenches that we welcome and fear change. I personally welcome and am a strong advocate for change and…

Ouch, I just travelled back to 1998 and remembered the feeling of getting my Original MCSE.

Good information.

It would definitely would be beneficial to customize both the subject and body. Particularly to help avoid the alarm/alert fatigue!

Effective listing.

So you are looking for just the backup script but you actually want ISE integrated into NCM like any other cisco switch or router. I noticed when I was poking around that I can get the running config but that does not gather the policies etc. You would like to see the whole ball of wax rolled into NCM. Am I in the ball…

Re: Cisco 3850 reporting incorrect temperatures There are more details in this post. Thanks!

This was helpful to understand why I am getting all kinds of thwack emails to my actual email inbox.

handy to know.

I was wondering the same thing.

You mean like to have a script that SSH into ISE, captures a sh running-config and sh startup-config and update in NCM?

I have an upgraded 3850 on version 03.06.01E that is reporting correctly. An alternative you can look at is Re: Cisco 3850 reporting incorrect temperatures which might be helpful if you cannot upgrade your switches. After my refresh is completed, I will be upgrading mine.

Is it true that just like a bakery worker after a while becomes immune to baked items, that you become immune to the view. I work in a sub-basement and the only outside I see is through a weather camera.

I have noticed that I have to restart my SW server about every 3 weeks to keep the emails alerts flowing. I did not perform a fresh install but rather an upgrade.

Looking to add to my certifications for the new year. I haven't delved into the alphabet soup in quite a while. Typical when I was a field engineer/consultant that you only get 25-35% of the billable hour in your pocket.

Decided physical was best after reviewing the capacity of the SAN, the number of hosts, the switching fabric, and the same concern you listed that what happens if the virtual fails. As far as monitoring the NPM box, I have nothing configured at this time. Although, I am considering some sort of watchdog hardware to tie…

I should have some time this afternoon to upgrade a switch to a new version and test it in solarwinds. Will let you know what I figure out.

You might look for an open-source RADIUS service to put on one of the servers. And then RADIUS against that flat table.

I was thinking the same thing. We sometimes have engineers working on servers and they may not always locked the server or log off and then another engineer will hit the some console and sometimes perform the reboot. See this in our virtual environment frequently. So, if the lastloggedinuser is only inventoried once or so,…

I think my Catalyst have a limit on how many destinations that you can send Netflow data to. I have mine configured for at least 2 destinations but the Nexus NX-OS limits to only one destination.

Thanks! and I did vote for it.
