That's what I was thinking. The few cloud configurations we have, we have dedicated VPN pipes and then we allow the interesting traffic through the firewall.

always a prudent idea. Run the script in "safe" mode to find out what is is going to output. Then when you are sure, go ahead and implement the rest of the script. You may want to actually run it in the shell before you enable it in the CRONTAB just to be sure what it is going to do. Just my two cents..... Also, you may…

I used to make them into mirror clocks to hang on the cubicle walls. Performed dual duty. Let you see behind you and let you know what time it is. Been a long time since I made one though. 5 1/4" Platters make a nice clock/mirror

That's the tool I rely on.

I finally had a rainy day project day today. I was not able to schedule stack upgrades on my 3850 but I did delve into SW. I made the above change to the .config file. Stopped all services on the server and then started all services. After about 20 minutes and then the hardware health status cleared. Now, I know which…

I was wondering about that setup myself. I have been contemplating trying to migrate every one of my projects to utilize load balancers and possibly even split them between my two data centers. Giving me redundancy as well as continued visibility. Thanks!

Good to hear. The drawback is that I utilize the tool all the time to determine device connections, etc. Now, I don't have a usable way of doing that without manually performing the tasks of showing the IP arp table and then tracking the MAC address. Hopefully, they will get it updated soon. We are looking at purchasing…

Funny, we are in the budget process for the next fiscal year and I put IPAM into my list of desired software additions, but then I was thinking about maybe we should just use the IPAM for 2012R2. I was just getting ready to post a question in the forum when I stumbled across this posting. I found your insight helpful. I…

Funny you would have thought that WSUS would have had an update on or just before the release of Windows 10 to the wild -- even though most of the release was for home users .........

I have not experienced that. On my server NetflowService.exe consumes 253Mb RAM and maybe hits 3% CPU. Averages 1% CPU I have an IBM x3650 M1 with 48GB RAM and 1TB HDD.

I too would like to gain on that insight. I have been slowly working -- when I have time -- with our User Support Specialists to have them see the dashboard and use that as a reference. When something goes red, they would then know where to expect phone call volume increases and they know what the response should be and…

My organization is in the same boat. I am curious to see how this pans out....

I agree this is a great concept!

Nice Tutorial steps. Looking at setting up several NOC views for different zones in the department. Will be bookmarking this post.

I was wondering the same thing?

I just found this as I am a noob to Solarwinds administration. This looks like what I was looking for. Thanks!

Bookmarking this one. Great compilation!

Interesting. Looking forward to sparking some of this up in the upcoming weeks. Gonna throw a bookmark on this one.

This post was right on point. I am looking to upgrade my WLC to 5508 in the very near future. I was trying to get a full inventory of the tasks that I may or may not need to work through. I will be adding this to the list. Thanks for the timely post!

Very informative. As a new admin to Solarwinds, it is great to find useful hints and tools. Thanks for your efforts!

Sounds like its a 50/50. Fortunately, historical data is not of any real relevance as I just spun up a new server on NPM 11 2 months ago. I will have to play it by ear as I start rolling out the new switches. I am refreshing from older 3750 to 3850 so I think the interface details will be identical. And as long as the…

I have experienced that same issue. I run Windows Server 2012 R2 and anytime I have pending windows updates, the job scheduler stops working. My only resolution at this time is to perform a restart and apply those updates. Then the scheduler will run fine for another month or so. I use it as reminder to keep it patched I…

I don't have a switch at the moment to update via solarwinds but I do recall that when I have manually updated the 3850 if was in the neighborhood of 16-20 minutes to tftp the file (100 Mbps connection) and then perform the install. Total time from start to finish with the reboot was 23 minutes for a single switch and 27…

With my 3850 stacks the couple of times that I have used SolarWinds to automate the process I did the software install using the tftp: on the command line. That way I reduced my steps to just three steps software install file tftp://_server_/name_of_ios_file on-reboot reload yes

Would these users be on the guest wireless or production wireless? Are the access points stand-alone or connected to a controller?

Check with Cisco. I have a bunch of 3850 and was informed that version 3.4.x has an issue with an OID that is reporting to SW. They suggested either creating a custom poller to use another OID or upgrade the IOS on the switches. I downloaded version 3.6.x but have not had a maintenance window to try and upgrade.
