"A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine." ...meaning that if you didn't plan ahead and now your deadline approaches, I shouldn't be required to put everything else on hold to handle the issue that you should have scheduled days or weeks ago.

What happened to Aug 16? Tons of people complained, but I still got the big red X all the way through to the end of the month even though I answered the survey.
-
@frank_uci You can find the questions and answers in the Recap. Here's a link to the spreadsheet: July 2016 THWACK Mission Questions + Answers.docx Should be extremely easy to strip the answers and present it in quiz style, which you can then check with the full answer sheet.

Or simply move "All of the above" above the more limited selection, and change no text.
-
All green. I think that's the first time in a while that that's happened.
-
I feel like whoever wrote these questions didn't actually check the reference that they pointed us to. Day 16's "failed" description definitely missed some that were in the video.

...but if it keeps ordering more, you'll NEVER be done eating all that pizza. So... we're out of luck, is what I'm hearing.

This was probably the easiest month of missions that I've ever done. Thanks, wabbott!

Would also be useful to have a way to parse the output of commands, such as checking the IOS version, or the speed/duplex of an interface, or the number of CRC errors on an interface, and if a pattern is matched take one action and if not take another.

You da man, idaman22!

Very nice mini-mission! I was out of the country last week so I did these all on the last day. 100% correct. I enjoyed this one too! I also like having the hint links all on one page this time. I'd like to see that on the monthly missions (although that would make a long page; maybe one per week instead.)

What's the cost for each tier? Every day provides a link, but not this one. Hard to answer a question about value without knowing the cost.
-
Distributed but cookie cutter. Almost all of our locations are virtually identical from an infrastructure perspective.

I wouldn't be surprised either, but using either, or shooting down a drone, is already a felony under FCC regulations. Also interfering with a drone pilot actually confers the same penalty as interfering with an airplane pilot. So don't mess with the kid across the street flying his drone. You could be unwittingly…

"I suppose I could just add both config scenario's to the script, one of which will fail, but I was hoping to be a bit more scientific." I have done exactly what you suggested here, and it has worked fine. Include 2 (or 3 or 4) options, expecting all but one to fail depending on the device type. For your situation, you can…

Lego all the way. And it is Lego, never Legos. Plural of Lego is "Lego bricks" or "Lego sets."
-
So... when are those points coming? I still don't have the 3000 for getting all the questions right, nor the 250 for taking the survey. I assume those will be awarded soon?

A couple of us at my company are working on building a tool to do this ourselves, per a suggestion from Solarwinds Technical Support, after I asked if they have a method of doing this. We have 8 polling engines, and doing Windows Patches and other maintenance that requires rebooting each polling engine is a nightmare for…

I'm not sure why the Resources don't seem to be editable, and there doesn't seem to be a way to create your own. Rather than just being able to add a single object, how about fully editable and customizable resources?

I should point out that one prerequisite to any "dumb" load balancing method for Orion would require that all pollers are in all firewall rules or ACLs that allow traffic from any pollers to any polled nodes. Otherwise moving a node from one poller to another could cause it to be unreachable. Similarly, your environment…

Thanks, maria.bungau There were definitely two possible answers that exactly fit the format. Thanks for the second chance.
-
Thanks mikenai It works better when the link to the hint actually mentions something related to the question.
-
Yesterday's was right. The link to the hint was wrong, but I did find a page that explained it, and led me to the right answer.
-
Yep. They messed up the link. Try: March Mission - Own The Throne - Day 7
-
Yeah, the answers don't seem to match the video.

"Be kind; just let it go at the hammer and saw." Obligatory joke: So you've heard about the blind carpenter, right? He picked up his hammer and saw.

Shortly after I started my first remote server-monitoring job, I started receiving, one by one, traps for servers that had gone heartbeat missing/no-ping at a remote site. I looked up the site, and there were 16 total servers there, of which about 4 or 5 (and counting) were already down. Clearly not network issues. I…

A generic SOAP template could be useful. So many apps use SOAP that you could monitor a lot of things without having to have anything pre-customized for that application. These would need to be able to both verify that something was received and its latency just to confirm the app is doing something, and look at the value…

Why is Phone not an option? That's probably most common, followed by the service portal. Chat and walk-up are probably used least, but are options.
