Give me local. I don't trust your security, Solarwinds!
-
Argh, fail.

I completely agree. If you're getting alerts that don't require action, either stop alerting on that condition or adjust the threshold so that an alert DOES require action. False positives are a waste of time and energy, and lead to complacency. It's one thing to set up all hard drives to alert at 80% in a new monitoring…

My team is just getting started with Config Compliance and Remediation, and these templates look like a huge boon for that effort. Thank you so much! I've found the templates that were included by default, but there don't seem to be any for Cisco Nexus gear. Are these forthcoming, or is there someplace that I can find…

My guess was right. It's similar to answers to several of the previous questions in this mission.
-
How did you miss today's? My 5 year old nephew could have gotten that one without the hint.
-
Doesn't matter. Gone in the next round. They're among the bottom of everything I've seen so far.
-
Maybe they'll move it from the Mission to the Store. :-D
-
Something's not right here. Pretty sure that answer was right but it's marked wrong.
-
Agreed, it's not "never" the network, but for some reason, people sure like to blame it. Compared to the blame that it gets, it's definitely "almost never" the network.
-
I got it right. Ignore the big peak at 1 AM and pick another peak that matches an answer. C'mon wabbott, this was not clear at all. You usually do much better than that!
-
By far the hardest decision. Both are great (though if you're not familiar with the Diva you really have to wait long enough for the exciting part to kick in.)
-
Clone mode. More "me"s would make one heck of an IT department. Do I get the salary of 5 people too?
-
Easy mission. Thanks for the points, even if I filled it out too late to be entered for the prizes.
-
Because it was rigged.
-
This was actually the plan for a cooling failure (including power or water failures since the cooling was not on UPS, we had no generator, and it depended on the water supply) in the datacenter where I last worked. Prop open the door and haul in every fan you could find. We also had a list of servers for shut down/start-up…
-
So... #2 down... All caps but omit spaces leaves 10 letters but the answer requests 11, and entering the answer that fits without spaces is wrong.
-
I'll have to be sure to check back on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing New Thwack!
-
Worked this time. Thanks for fixing it, DanielleH!
-
I would assume these drones are fully automated - no driver, and no expectation of tip.
-
Week 1: 100% success. I'm a big fan of the bandwidth monitoring theme too. Good mission!
-
Thanks for getting it so our ranks don't start over. I spent 4 years getting to where I am (Level 16, Rank 477, 112,000+ points). It's been fun, but it's nice to have something to show for it, even if it's just a number.
-
Well it's either both or neither.
-
You could use local additional pollers, with the primary being in the cloud (and not actually polling anything except possibly publically accessible equipment.)
-
Easy and fun. Plus the prizes look good too. Would really like the backpack, but most of them are great. I'm not sure what I'd do with the Beaker though... Sure it looks nice but not the most practical drinkware.
-
All green. It's been several months since I've seen that. :-)
-
I installed Linux on my original Xbox. Easy cable hack so I could plug a thumb drive into the controller USB port, and a copy of the game that included the software hack. IIRC it was pretty easy to do (after a LOT of reading up on how to actually do it.)

Your instructor's story reminds me of a time I was doing remote server/circuit monitoring. We had a client with a DR site which would lose connectivity for about 3-5 minutes and come back up without intervention. It didn't happen every day, but it was always mid-day, about 11-noon when it did occur. Now this is only a DR…
-
Thanks for fixing that Maria.

Afraid so. You disqualify yourself for the week and for the month (although you're still eligible for next week's drawing.) Double incentive to be careful. Don't feel too bad, I missed one last week.
