Thanks Denny! I was wondering about my sanity for a while there.
-
I tried that in in my 8.1 install and it gives "Unknown Property". If you can give me something that will work in 8.1, I can investigate further. That makes sense because you don't have my custom poller. Try putting this into the Custom HTML: NodeName = ${NodeName} And put the Custom HTML in your node view. The NodeName…

It is in this forum thread: Thanks!

Wow, I must have been smoking something really strong. My custom HTML resource was presenting four gauges by using ${NodeID} before the 8.5 release. And I have in my class notes us using a custom HTML resource with variables. But this feature would be really great to make the next release!
-
So it was working before 8.5 unintentionally, but with 8.5 release, the unintentional functionality was removed. Cool! :) Oh and your training class teaches that you can do this. I understand that the class is given outside of SolarWinds, but they still shouldn't teach something that is not supported.
-
But does the resource support expanding the variable, or is expanding the variable ASP? I'm not familiar with ASP. So if I put in the Custom HTML resource "Node name = ${NodeName}", when the resource is presented it will read "Node name = my.system.name" or "Node name = ${NodeName}". Before 8.5 it would present the first,…

I have a ticket open for this, and they have said they opened a bug report.
-
Yeah, this was a bummer to learn that 8.5 will not cover the Database Manager and SA privs. My DBA team doesn't like the idea of someone outside their team using Query Analyzer, which is funny b/c Database Manager is pretty much the same thing. I'll continue to work them over and maybe they'll relent!
-
Really? Not a part of the product? It is taught in the training class. Also it worked before 8.5. Huh, that's interesting.

Yes, high bandwidth util can cause SNMP traffic to be dropped at the router. Normally SNMP is a low priority.
-
Ticket #17100 was created earlier this morning. Thanks!
-
The variable modifiers would be nice in advanced alerts. Having the current value of the alert. For example, a high bandwidth advanced alert does not show the current bandwidth value. In general, having the ability to take out the grouping function so that the alerts can be sorted by time of alert, or just listed on the…

This is great news! Re: this will be changed in 8.5
-
I also am having this issue, but my install is on the C drive. I've applied all the hotfixes (1-6). Solarwinds folks - Will this 5a hotfix be released when 8.5 is released?
-
:)
-
I opened support case #17239 for this.
-
:) And we like you too! I think Patrick may be forwarding you an email I just sent him. Maybe not. But if so we can discuss further there. Thanks for all your help Denny!
-
Huh, well at least a bug has been reported with 8.5. I was never told about the resolution of "changing permissions". I'll send an email to the ticket to try to find out what is going on. Thanks
-
I've opened case #17460 for this issue.
-
Wrong SNMP community string. SNMP service went down. Firewall blocking port 161.
-
It is helpful for my NOC to know why an alert was cleared.
-
This is a bigger issue than just the gauge not showing up. Any variable I put in the Custom HTML is not getting expanded. For example, ${NodeID} is being printed as "${NodeID}" and not the actual value of the variable.
-
I get the same error as Tom when clicking on the Ping icon in the upper right. Same with the traceroute icon. I'm using 9.1 and I have launched the tool first.
-
Yeah that is what I do when I have to upgrade or install software, but I'd like to use the Database Manager to see the different tables. Currently I have to log onto another system and start SQL Query Analyzer to look at the data. I'd like to use the SolarWinds product. I guess I could install SQL Query Analyzer, but that…

Stay tuned. :) I've heard rumors about this in a code release named after a mythical beast
-
And now it's back to not working.
-
A notification like "Response time has dropped from ${AvgResponseTime-Previous} to ${Node.AvgResponseTime}" when the alert is cleared.
-
I tried "C:\script\script.bat ${MESSAGE}" and got part way. I'm trying to get the trap alert message sent to the script. Now the script runs, but the message cuts off at the first space. Any way of getting the message in quotes?
-
Should I also open a support case for this?
-
What I'm saying is that we have not yet released Orion into our production environment due to features not implemented yet, but have been rumored to be coming soon. Like MIB table scans. I'd like to know what is potentially going into the future release so that I can plan to either roll out and bite the bullet, or wait for…
