  • We monitor 6000 elements on 900 nodes using one Orion server (Poller/website/DB) across 16 sites worldwide HP DL380G5 2-dual quad 3.16 Ghz - 32 GB ram Database is 25-30 GB most all of it in RAM (check the attachment page life >22 hours hit rate 99.9%) monitored systems include: Windows 2000 2003 2008 - Linux Debian Redhat…
  • Peter: Well put and I agree, your contribution to this board is a clear indication that your purpose is to make Orion a better product. Converstaions like this should be a wake up call to product management to build the core from a good system into a great system. I would like to suggest a greater interaction with the…
  • Peter: I agree with you, SW should be addressing these issues if it is going to effectively compete. Also the zealotry comment wasn't aimed externally or personally at you, I have internal factions who completely refuse to acknowledge any value in commercially developed software at all and will implement open source to the…
  • Thanks, reinstall did the trick. JB
  • Eric: Thanks for staying on this, we too would like/need to have this functionality, so add my voice to th chorus. Orion has moved from a simple monitoring tool to a powerful diagonistics tool, we have the need to present diverse information in consolidated ways. I have spend a large amount of time creating custom pages to…
  • So is SP5 suppose to say: "SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor 9.1 SP4 1995-2008 All Rights Reserved" on the bottom of the page? JB
  • But the best place to start is with the online tutorials. http://www.solarwinds.com/support/tutorials.aspx just remenber, the source of all this on HP servers is the Management Agents, but if your using SIM you already have those loaded. JB
  • And add the results to the node details (I created a "Server Details" view)....
  • Is there no other fix? I can't reboot the server. JB
  • Then when you get comfortable, you can move to tables....
  • Please add another voice to the chorus. JB
  • Then Use Advanced Alert Manager....
  • Ding... Here too... 6506 reporting 48MB ram with sup32age (is that even possible??) Orion 9.0 sp1 JB
  • OK so we got: * Stackable Charts * Ability to place multiple interfaces from a single node or multiple nodes on a single chart * Ability to place a UnDP assigned to one node or multiple nodes to a single chart But how about Multiple UnDP from the same node on one chart? JB
  • Next release of APM? Will it be released in weeks or months? We have an pressing need for this class of alert. JB
  • Have you added the Universal Device Poller Status resource? JB
  • Check that your HP Management Agents are installed, running and configured properly JB
  • The Universal Device Poller is your friend, first start with the pollers......
  • LOL you're not dense, I was just giving an example (Post Server Upgrade) of a chart. Here's the before.... JB
  • Simon, I think I understand your problem, the resources you added are for charting UnDPs, try adding the resource "Universal Device Poller Status" to your node details page. JB
  • Denny How about an update to this... Support says they don't support resource customizations. If Solarwinds wants to move Orion to better support for servers, having a capablity to direct link to a server management/diagnostic page would sure help. We use it all the time, Orion alerts us to a problem on a server, like…
  • Thanks JB
  • Poller an dDB are in the same server HP DL380 G5 dual Quad-core 3.16Ghz Processors 12 GB Ram - 8 GB for SQL 2005 System - 72GB Raid 1 (2x72GB SAS Dual Port 15k RPM) Data 410 GB Raid 5 (4x146GB SAS Dual Port 10KRPM) I have no problem with this HW - Website is even fast. Check out this chart..... JB
  • You need to enable Clustering Information in HP Management agents config. Start> Control Panel> HP Managemant Agents and add Clustering Information. You will then need to restart the HP Management Agents JB
  • Here you are: SolarWinds Orion Core 2011.1.0 SP1, APM 4.0.2 SP3, IPAM 2.0, IPSLAMGR 3.5.1, NCM 6.1, NPM 10.1.2 SP1, NTA 3.7, IVIM 1.1.1 JB
  • We use the IIS (New in 2.0, Popular, SolarWinds, WMI) Template - Current connections counter. The counter works fine in APM its just when we try to us it in an alert to either triger or display in the message - Alert: Application ${ComponentName} on Node ${NodeName} is ${StatisticData} Alert: Application Application Pool…
  • Simon, can you post a shot of the Universal Device Poller Resource that's on your the Node Details Page? JB
  • Hey, No Problem No, but that would be a nice feature to have more flexablity in the Nodes with Problems resource. (Feature Request..........) JB
  • The HP Management HomePage will tell you what the array is. http://<Server_IP_Address>:2381 Under "Storage" JB
