Congratulations!

Very good read Leon! You are spot on. Share your knowledge. It will only help in the end. But Network people are always hated. It is always a network problem. It is up to up to prove it overwise and get them to like us again. Of fix it and admit it. We don't point the blame away. lol

Dear Network, You always seems to find a way to overcome all obstacles. Maybe it has something to do with the good support group that you have. You continue to do more with less. You are constantly asking me for upgrades and I am constantly having to tell you that it isn't in the funding. We don't always listen to what you…

Got to add something else about that article. "With all those vulnerabilities, even Adobe is recommending everyone stop using Flash" So I think that SolarWinds should look to get away from using it for Virtualization Manager. I just said this a little while ago.
-
I never even thought of using Microsoft's solution. So this just reiterates my initial thought.
-
My take is YES and YES. It think it only helps to show just how powerful the SolarWinds tools can be, even if it is overwhelming to some. It will at least show the potential to a new customer and enable that customer to have something MORE to look forward to once he gets it into his environment. And as you already stated,…

Cool. Thank you! I got them this time

Sounds much like a Security+ plus or CEH or CISSP class to me. lol. I have used two-factor authentication at my jobs for the last 12+ years now. I do work in a government environment, so it is a little different where I am. Security is a much bigger concern than that of the commercial world. The government is mostly…

I am not surprised at all to see this. I think the Thwack community is the best support community that I have EVER seen in the IT world. And that is saying a lot because I have been all around in IT. SolarWinds does something that I have never ran across form another IT company (especially of their size)...listen to the…

How do we go back and see what ones we picked?
-
We have LEM in another environment that I am working on setting up, but currently we are using NPM for logging. It is not that great of a solution, but that is what we have for now.
-
I agree. I did the same thing. I answered yesterday and the bonus was NOT open. I am answering todays now and it says it is open, but the question is not available to answer. It was not open at midnight yesterday and certainly was not open for 24 hours. I know that to be fact!

It is too bad this is your last one

Not going to be close, although I do really like Groot
-
you can. Just have to setup a custom poller. What specific "health" are you looking for? temperature, drive status?
-
ecklerwr1 I really should have had that out there

Would like to have a way to copy the stats to the new node, so that I don't have to keep an archived node in there forever. I just want to "link" the old stats to the new node. It can be done with database queries, but a way to do it less manually would be preferred.
-
You know, I tend to agree with your perspective. I tend to think that if you try to hard to keep someone in, and never let them experience "outside", then they are bound to rebel and may not ever come back. If someone wants to stay, they will stay. If they really want to leave, and you are making them stay, they will find…

Reports are the best way to show upper management a need. Even though they want to ignore it sometimes. lol.
-
I agree with everyone else here that standards are a necessity. There should be naming conventions for all gear, to include racks. there should be IP Address schemes that are standardized for the placement of like machines in subnets. There should also be standards the the acquisition of equipment. Get like equipment when…

I still think Chewbacca takes it all

I agree Jay

Right on the money. And I so agree with @Network_Netra automating is a big part too
-
And I will have a reference to you displayed in a frame hanging at work. When I see the basement IT guy, I will know who it is.
-
You forgot to mention some of the game apps...Draw Something took only 50 days and then Angry Birds Space beat that when it took only 35 days to 50 million! Agree with you that we all must change in the IT field. And I agree with network defender, everything is so much more specialized than it used to be. I have seen it…

Money always seems to be a big issue and real high on the list when dealing with the government.
-
I have to admit. This is the hardest contest yet. I like it though. I almost have the phrase. I see what was done too. The hardest word to figure out is the first word. So all those clues are last. lol.

Remote management. The way of the future
-
Most places (especially bigger companies with tight budgets and the government) has different moneys for different things. Labor and software are 2 separate budgets, so this philosophy will not work. Yes, money can be moved, sometimes, and for specific reasons. This would be a frowned upon move. The higher ups look at it…

Good luck with your future endeavor! You will be missed
