Good article, but sometimes you have to pick your poison.

I'm good with no points, if I win one of the gift cards. lol. To me it is not a big deal. We have the opportunity for some Christmas gift cards. Loving it! Yay!

I think Chewbacca already won the whole thing. I don't see how its possible tht he doesn't

Congratulations everyone! Welcome to the group!

I would like the ability to have a delay between commands sent using a Config Change Template. I am constantly running into issues running these templates when my devices (mostly NX-OS this happens with) prompt for a response. When I use ssh after upgrading the NX-OS for the first time, i get the RSA yes/no question and my…

lol. If he has a bottle of water and someone takes a picture of his hand with the bottle in the Data Center, he will win a prize!

My wife hooked me up. Will post in a minute.

I just don't like Flash anyway. I hate that some of the SolarWinds consoles require it. It also depends on downloads from Adobe to operate correctly as not all files are included in the install. It makes a true offline installation very difficult. But back to ransomware...this will not be the last. We all know that. It is…

I can add a little bit more to this. I want to give a major shout out to all of the SolarWinds crew that attended this event and to all those that made it happen. It was awesome! The booth was really cool. I am a little biased, but I thought it was one of the best there. It was a very good use of space and had a whole lot…

Good read, although I like to think of PM as Performance Monitoring, as IP SLA does not do any management. QoS is an example of the management piece. PM is really only Performance Management when using Program Manager terminology. * How often do you use IP SLA ( or any similar tool) in your network? Do you use it in…

Thank you! I was wondering what they were before I ordered. Mine are on the way! SolarWinds is awesome!

Good read. I do not feel that companies have the "right" to track devices, or in reality..the users, that do not belong to them. I get it that they don't want something getting on their network, but it that is the case, BYODs should not be allowed. And if they are, the user should not be responsible (or get in trouble) for…

I was amazed how close the Tonto/Short Round matchup was. I think it was due to some younger voters not realizing how valuable Tonto really was. Short Round was funny, but who wouldn't want Tonto as a sidekick when it went down?

Thanks. I always have faith in ya'll. No need to stress (or worry you) about points. We will get them when you have time. We know you are really busy. Thanks again for these missions, the prizes, and all that you do!

While you are waiting for this to be included in a new release, you can do some basic charts that will show status, by setting up come custom pollers.
-
It probably needs Mindstorm format

Unfortunately, most of the time, the tracker that is doing wrong gets away with it for so long before someone finds out. It isn't usually until an incident occurs that it is discovers that "bad things" were being done for years. I really don't see a way around it. There will always be a way to do "bad things" with…

That is a really awesome idea that Cisco had. And it does not surprise me that NCM was of such interest. If people are using any of the SolarWinds products for network devices, I don't understand how they can do without NCM. It will return the investment very quickly.
-
If I can find the time to dip into this list, I'll have to take a look at a few of these. Some look to be interesting reads. I know I have been wanting to read "Steve Jobs".
-
I do like how much NCM is advancing. The more functionality that can be added to the web frontend, the better.
-
I have seen all of these. And recently, we have been running into some QOS stuff that has caused issues. It has been due to the misconfiguration of Control Plane Policing. When not setup right, the wrong things are dropped or really slowed down.

Another suggestion...A vote against button!

I can kind of see both sides. We need what we need and sometimes we need more. Sometimes we need less. It really depends on the situation. I don't believe there is a GREAT SIEM out there yet. There are a lot that are getting better. And I really don't think there is an easy one. All have to be customized to what you want…
-
NCM is a great tool and does a pretty good job with DISA STIG compliance. It does require a lot of customization for your environment. There is not a lot out there that actually does this kind of "audit".
-
lol. That was good, but I can't bring myself to do that.
-
So we have some articles with steps forward and some that show we still have a long way to go. lol
-
Well at least we have a company like SolarWinds that is trying to move with the future and give us what we need. They are at least asking.
-
I know this can be done using Using a compliance Policy Report in NCM. I am doing it this way. I have the report look for "switchport mode access" or "switchport mode trunk" within the config and then I have it look for the requested change. If the "change" is not in the config, I have a remediation script setup to be…

Well said. Also, depending on which wireless line of products, the Small/Medium business products are just what they got from Linksys. Cisco just took the Linksys GUI and added to it. All their other stuff uses different wireless GUIs.

I love this feature. From what I can see after the initial RC install is that it works great. Went right through our firewalls with no issues. Now I am just waiting for there to be a problem, so I can see how it works and alerts with it. I also like the new user interface with the new menu layout. It is a lot easier and…
