Try NOT COMPLETED and see if the opposite works. lol

Coders are the best! automate!
-
Thank you. I will try this

The cloud is coming sooner rather than later. Anxious and terrified!

We are working to implement IPAM. We do surrently have some things in place now. Port Security (sticky) is set on all ports to ensure only one specific device is plugged into a specific port. We have a home-grown system to track all devices and IP addresses. We also use spreadsheets (I know...this really sucks) to track…

Would have loved to attend that one
-
This would be a great feature to have.
-
I agree with all that except I would also add Isolation and Recovery. You should be prepared to quickly isolate an breach and recover from an event. Policies and procedures should also be in place.
-
Well there is already a Geek Squad, but no Head Geek squad. Then you could be known as Heads of Geeks. The Geek Gang Geek Heap HGH - Head Geek Horde
-
I like that idea

I try to go after, and maintain, what I need first, and then work Ion what I want based on the direction that I want to go. I think you also, at some point, have to take into consideration market need. If there is not a lot of market need, it may not be worthwhile to proceed down that path. I think that most in IT (at…

I like VOIP & Network Quality Manager. I have also used NTA and Cisco NAMs to analyze VoIP traffic. The NAMs actually show a lot of information and break out VoIP calls and traffic nicely.

I could care less if it is something anyone likes to do. I have no problem with that. Have at it! The issue that I have is the stupidity that surrounds it with SOME people and how that stupidity affects others. Stay off military bases and government facilities with it (nothing good will come of it), don't drive while…

Can you post your template script and what version of NCM you are using.
-
Well at least SolarWinds is now getting some of the recognition that it deserves. But I agree that it would be disappointing not to find the "new" thing
-
I agree. Same here.
-
No problem. Thank you
-
I have been using it for years. It is a very good tool. I use it a lot to test and teach Cisco architectures.
-
Our approach is as good as the money we get to throw at it. We are pretty good with security, but funding has definitely limited what we can do.
-
I do not think that I would be very big on this solution. I do like the SolarWinds IPAM solution. I have used it for many years with no issue.
-
I am a big fan of automation and documentation. Knowledge and ease-of-use. And who doesn't hate it when you are transferred from person to person to solve a simple problem. Give the first person you call the tools to be successful in helping others. Make things easier with automation too!
-
Thank you! I was just having fun with it. I am feeling great and exceptionally nice today! I really appreciate winning, but I think that for the sake of the contest and prize (a cartoon strip), it would be a much better cartoon strip if you use a different story. I really think makes for the best cartoon strip. I think it…

I tend to lean towards customer satisfaction as long as their trouble tickets closed rate is not too low.
-
I think that all IT personnel need some familiarity with programming. It only helps. It helps with everything from development to automation to troubleshooting. It is not going anywhere.
-
Need this times 1000

Keep the bacon coming

I would love to be able to have something that REALLY follows the whole user experience. So if its a java-based application that is launched through a website, give me a look into ALL of it, to include all servers, applications, and processes involved. I want a baseline of the whole user experience
-
We basically keep a month's worth of data online in a active "production" database. We archive the SolarWinds databases on an monthly interval. If we need to do back, we have the ability to do so. We poll for device, interface, and volume status in 90 second intervals. We collect interface statistics for all major…

Now this is pretty cool. I do agree with Jfrazier though. In my environment, we have events that cause rapid growth at specific time periods and then it steadys off and then it has another massive growth a another event.

I would have to agree with @tcbene on this one. I have found in almost all of my past experiences that people always go to the networks team first. Once that team PROVES there is not problem there, then it goes to the virtualization, storage, and server admins. I have found this to be true even if the problem is in the…
