And spend a lot of time getting nowhere

Congratulations! I get it now! lol

Very good read!

Good reads as always. I get it with the FBI. There are 2 sides to the argument. And the ATM thing sure isn't going away anytime soon. It is rather scary.

I would do just like many others. I would start with ALL the right people and I would make sure they ALL have the right pay. I would setup a Google type environment. I think they have the right idea when it comes to employee satisfaction. I would definitely want the unlimited storage to begin with. Since the budget is…

Thanks for Thwack!

By time the money is spent and the time is taken, it is 3 years later before it gets to the users and it is thus 3 years behind. And I keep thinking that one day they will figure it out. I just don't know if I will be around to see it.

Keep them coming. I like the application fail one

They having been heading in the Powershell direction for the last couple server OSs. They are really trying to force Powershell.

We need a lot of clean-up done. You will always find old stuff. Monthly probably isn't a bad idea.
-
You never know you have a problem until the problem arises. Then when it occurs, you react to it so that it doesn't get you again. The tools needed are then put into place. Experience is the key to preventing most problems.

Probably won't be until right before we all go to sleep. lol

We have gone to virtual assets wherever possible, to cut down on the number of physical machines. We also now have dedicated HVAC systems for specific rooms. We have found that this actually cuts power consumption, because each system runs less. With some of the systems covering areas close to its max specification, it…

I think you could probably get NCM to work and if not I'm sure you could get it on the list for a future release.

We use the great spreadsheet method on a Sharepoint server. So only one person at a time gets to update. If they leave it open, we get to wait until they are there to check it back in. We just love it. We are trying to go to IPAM though. Hopefully they will fund it soon.

Congrats Denise!

That is funny

I have always found that even if the technology fades away, it has been useful for something else. It is usually a building block for something else. Something newer is usually similar to the old in some way. It can also accelerate the learning of newer languages, techniques, technologies, applications, etc. Newer stuff is…

Congratulations!

We need a real SUEM. One that actually tracks the entire application.

I somewhat distrust my auto/boat mechanic(s), because I always seem to get screwed over and things don't tend to get fixed right.

I agree with this for the most part and have experienced this myself. However, i have mostly found that it is money issues and the cost of training that keeps companies from investing. It is usually do to the fact that companies have almost too good of employees. They know they have smart employees and this sometimes hurts…

I just hate this Pokémon stuff. I think it is way overboard and is already causing too many issues. This GAME is causing serious injuries and mass stupidity. There are people that don't realize that these stupid things don't actually exist. What is the world coming to that this is what ALOT of people actually look forward…
-
This is something I need to take a look into. Not really something that I would be ready to invest in yet.
-
Hello there! Welcome aboard. I'm sure you will love it.

Schedule an annual downtime period to implement improvements, but that still doesn't get you the time to come up with them. During weekly meetings with team leads (If you are a big enough help desk to have them) would be a good start.
-
OK. I tried this on the 7.3 and I ended up with the same issue. Then I troubleshot a little and found that it was working all along. I found what the disconnect was. When I would go to execute the config change template, I would get to the preview portion and it would show the variable (${StorageAddress}) instead of the…

I agree. In very remote locations and certain terrain, this is not feasible. IF there is connectivity, via satellite or some other means, it is not very reliable, and surely will NOT support the infrastructure needed to support a decent size unit. That is fact, as there are many factors that can cause connectivity issues.…

One of my favorite ones was with a new employee of mine. She was supposedly a MCSE and had been in IT for over 5 years. She stated that she did not have Outlook on her computer. I told her that was weird, because I used Outlook on that computer. I went over there and she said "See. No Outlook!" as she pointed to her…
