I upgraded with only 1 minor issue. My maps didn't come over completly. (The nodes are missing.) I also can't get Network Atlas to work, it crashes on startup. I opened up a case on the issue.

Mike, You don't have to use the NCM Syslog or Trap server to get the RTCD working. (You do have to pick which one you want to use however.) You just have to setup the Orion Syslog/Trap server to do the same thing that the NCM server would have done. The settings are identical. You just have to setup a rule to trigger the…

No problem!

We've seen the same thing. There was a problem with our SQL server where the main process would hang and our DBA's ended up killing it. Our server admin noticed an error on our Orion server and when it went away everything was happy. I checked the the polling engine stats and it had been over 17 hours since it talked to…

I created a resource that used to do that and with a little help from SW I have a custom view that provides that information. Check out this: and see if it will do what you need.

I'm guessing that means 5.1 SP1? If so, when can we expect SP1?

I've been playing with the settings a little bit and I can't seem to get them to work the way I want to. I'd like the download job to alert me via email when a device changes but I don't want to see a list of all devices that downloaded a config. (I'm fine having them all in one message.) Is this possible? Thanks, Eric

Well said aLTeReGo! I know many people typically shy away from latest versions. I know most people wouldn't put the lastest version of IOS on their routers or even run some of the latest Cisco tech. I was at a traning class a little over a year ago and asked what the rest of the people thought about Cisco's VSS. Most of…

Our DBA's expressed concerns as well. It looks like I'll be waiting a little bit to do my upgrade.

You have to do some reg tweaks to get telnet working with IE 8 (and I think 7) through the web interface. It's been disabled by default.

I was wondering if there was any update on this. We're getting ready to roll NCM out and so far, I've been the only one using it but as it gets more visibility the other support personnel are going to need to access it. We have it installed on the same server as NPM and EOC and our server group isn't real keen on the idea…
-
Yes, this should be possible. If you are using the NCM integration module, it only displays devices that exist in NPM. So, you can use your node limitations on accounts as you would normally to restrict access to nodes. FYI, in our next release of NCM, we plan to make all of the capabilities of the standalone NCM…

That works for the MIBS but I don't beleive that updates the SysObjectID, I'm pretty sure that only happens during an upgrade.

To export report results: * Launch the Orion NCM client application on your Orion NCM server. * Click Reports > View Report. * Select the report you want to export, and then click OK. * Click File > Export, and then select the type of export you want. For example, click Export to Text File. * Check or clear the appropriate…

Thank you both for your responses! That's exactly what I was looking for!

I believe those are just the stacking connections. I personally wouldn't alert on them, because if one switch in the stack died, you will probably know about it real quick. Thats just me though. From my perspective it is good to alert on one of them going down as that's an easy way to tell if a switch in the stack died.…

Hi Christine, The first option is what we wanted to / are now doing. I did the upgrade last Friday and so far everything has been working well. I have two import jobs, one for each server. I also was able to test the RTCN using forwarded syslog traps. (We forward from NPM Server B to NPM Server A retaining the IP address…

Just wanted to give this a little bump...
-
Awesome, that worked great! We didn't move EOC to a new server, we just changed the database backend. Thank you for the quick response! Another question, if we were to reinstall, would we need to copy that file over to get the settings back? Our Server Group Manager is looking at moving our NPM, EOC, and NCM install to…

Hi Brandon, I had a case opened on it once after and upgrade because I didn't realize it was was broke it. I was told at that time that since it was a custom solution it couldn't be supported. I have no problem opening up a case but I just wanted to verify I should first. Thanks!

Which service is that? I don't see one that talks about the Custom Polling...
-
Brandon, Is there any *easy* way to do this programatically? We've got about 29k interfaces we're monitoring with about 3/4 of them being switch ports. I'd like all the normal switch ports to be treated as unplugged but it will take forever if we try check them individually. (I tried a interface search that matched…

We've got about 10 controllers that are each 1/2 - 3/4 the way full. We also have about 5 energywise switches. I've got an open case for services crashing, I wonder if it is related.
-
That was it, thanks! The other nodes I added showed up Yes the first few times.
-
We've got J-6350's running JUNOS 8.5. I tried those commands but sflow wasn't available.
-
I'm using IE 8 and that's my only option. Our corporate standard is IE and other browsers are prohibited. Note: I did get special permission and I tried Firefox and it works properly. (Go figure.)
-
I ended up opening a case on this problem, ticket 80805. The last update I had is that the development team was looking into it. I was wondering if you could shed any light on it Sham.
-
The last one I noticed was at 73 characters. I thought it might have something to do with terminal width. I hadn't previously counted but some of our support staff emailed me and asked if it could be fixed.
-
jp, can you share how the report is setup?
-
In the installation instructions it says it possible when installed on the NPM server except if it is running 64bit. Does the same hold true for the poller? We have a second poller and we're looking at moving to 64 bit but I don't want to setup another server for EOC if possible.
