Hi Phil, Thanks for the response. That's what I was thinking I should do but we don't have the "Syslog Push" option for the log export. Do you know what version you have to have to support this? Thanks!

First off, I want to say that you are awesome Denny as is the rest of the SW Staff! I know it can be difficult to work in these kind of situations and with forums like this you tend to hear more negative than positive. (These forums are much better than most.) A lot of this is kind of like the book, If You Give a Mouse a…

So when a device is removed via the interface, the SLA is left in place? If I wanted it removed from the device, I would have to manually go there and remove it?

Thanks Yann! I'll post a feature request! Right now one server is in North America and the other is in Asia. We've been able to get some really good data out of them we'd just like to have it all in one report.

Thanks for the response. Its not exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping that we were going to get the ability to more closely monitor our Voice Gateways and CallManager. The VoIP monitor is what drew us to SolarWinds in the first place. I understand that SLA route is it opens up more overall options for SW. We might…

I've run into the same thing... We see our Orion DB Server reads and writes going above 100 frequently. Is 100 a good value to base this data on? Yann, you said if the average value is constantly high we might want to check the disk array type... What does "high" mean? Is 400 high? I set our App Monitor to watch the Disk…

Awesome. I never thought about the second one that way but that would be a perfect way to describe it!

Well that explains why it wasn't working for me. :) I did a little searching and looked at the OID that the information was pulled from and I understand a little better why there is so much white space. Cisco presents a lot of data that isn't needed. I ended up adding a UnDP to all my Cisco nodes in NPM then used an…

Thanks for the response. We're getting the messages from our IAS server. It was kind of strange, it seems like depending on if the account was unknown vs not authorized we got different messages. I think I was able to find another message that got me what I needed but had slightly less detail. (Which didn't matter since I…

Thanks, that worked! I was still running a 1.x version.
-
Thanks for the help, it lead me in the correct direction! Turns out the user account I was trying to use didn't have the "logon a service" right on the server it was installed on. I gave it that right and it started right up!

The same thing can be done easily with Excel. I've done it a lot that way. Create a list of what you need and then save it as a text file. With a little tweaking, you can create these kinds of lists very quickly.

Yes I am. The links I use are directly to the maps.
-
I changed this option. I'm going to monitor to see if it helps.

Thanks for the update Alminair! We haven't made the jump to 5.0 yet.

Right click on the download link and select save target as... Copy the file to your Orion server then import it with APM. If you don't get any stats, run through the WMI troubleshooting document.
-
Try right clicking on the download link and do "Save Target As..."

I had the same problem and it seems like it took a while. I ran through the WMI documentation and didn't see anything. I tried it again the next day and the values were there...

Hello, From what I saw. Those 4 components gave a litte information on what the BES is doing and how many messages is it processing. The are some other things you can monitor but I didn't see anything else that looked interesting to me at the time. There is a troubleshooting WMI document on the APM forums that I used to…

We do this with Traps today and we get alerted pretty quickly.
-
You should be able to monitor the Stack Ports in Orion and alert if they go down. That's what we're planning on doing.
-
To add to this, it would also be nice to know for NTA and IP SLA Manager as well.

warlock129, It really depends on how robust your VMWare intstallation is. We run our Orion servers as VM's and they work great. If you've got a HA setup and use VMotion and all the other little tools that VMWare has it might be fine for you to install as a VM. If you want to be able to monitor to tell if things go down…

It should work, we've got quite a few 1841's reporting to us. I would guess your version of IOS would be the only thing holding you back.
-
When you were in network atlas, did you drag all the nodes at the site (or ones that should be connected) on to the map? Connect Now requires the nodes to already be on the map.

# 3 and 4 would be great features. We have a few cp's related to location and people commonly don't type them correctly messing up some of our filters. The ability to add text would greatly help those who don't add devices or make changes as frequently as others.

We ran into the same thing. Typically, I re-list and add the new interfaces then delete the old ones. You'll lose that old data however. If you need to keep it for a while, you'll want to keep those old interfaces out there. (We learned the hard way after one of the server guys P2V'd a machine then needed to pull stats off…

I noticed a similar bug... I tried to add some more performance counters to a monitor and there were 4 options I could create a new Template, Add it to an existing one, create a new monitor, or add to an existing. All of the options except "Add to existing" offered more options when selected. When I left add to existing…
