I like this idea... I too have two main NPM/SAM SLX combos and multiple APE's.

Thank Tim... I knew you would know!

Yes that's what I have seen. Also for the ICMP only nodes to be discovered in discovery with icmp instead of snmp I think you have to have version 9.5 of NPM.

Here's some of you Date and Time options to try: ${DateTime} Current date and time. (Windows control panel defined “Short Date” and “Short Time” format) ${Date} Current date. (Short Date format) ${LongDate} Current date. (Long Date format) ${MediumDate} Current date. (Medium Date format) ${Time} Current Time. (Short Time…

I've been working through advanced alerts with variables lately myself. A good reference to the variables is: http://thwack.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Components.PostAttachments/00.00.02.64.40/OrionVariables.pdf Also I've noticed in Advanced Alert Manager when editing the trigger under Log Alert to NetPerfMon…

Is this on NPM9.5.1?

Ah see byrona is like me an not always ready to jump onto the newest version. I have 12.x and new modules running in a VM lab right now but it can't monitor much. I'm glad to see most of the upgrades have gone mostly smooth with a few issues here and there.

@benbree A good place to request features are the new feature request forums located here: http://thwack.com/forums/default.aspx?GroupID=53

Unfortunately I don't think the mouse overs work on links only the actual interface BUT you can drag that internet interface from inside network atlas and drop it on LED you put in the cloud for status on the LED to change color with the interface also... just like you did with the link line..then when you hover over the…

Maybe it is some kind of bug. Another thing (which seems kinda rediculous but might work) you could try is to run .bat file from the alerting engine and have the .bat file run your command for you.

Is this the SQL Server that WSUS uses you are talking about aLT?

Wow sweet that was quick!

See the following for info about different ISDN MIB's. PRI and BRI are in different places. For PRI (E1 and T1 lines), the physical interfaces are managed by the DS1/E1 MIB. See the following: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0t/12_0t1/feature/guide/isdn_mib.html Functional Description The ISDN MIB RFC 2127 is…

That's good it sounds like you made it past the issue then?
-
Pretty slick tdanner :^} I had to think that through for a second.
-
I'm not glad but it's good to see we aren't alone!
-
I have to agree with byron here... why would you not show the associated IP's with the interfaces listed on node details for a device??? An example is on a router with say 8 interfaces... why under the routers nodes detail where interfaces are listed would you list the port and description but not show the IP assigned to…

@mkormeara- I was just wondering about this myself... so a customer property named whatever automatically becomes a variable named ${whatever} which can be used in web tooltips, alerts, or where ever you can use variables in NPM?
-
It actually does us ICMP as well actually: Ports Open the following ports on your firewall for network connectivity used by NetPath : PortProtocolDirectionSourceDestinationDescription17778TCPOutgoingNetPath probePolling engineUsed to send information back to your Orion server.11 (ICMP Time Exceeded) ICMPIncomingNetworking…

Andy might know if it's a possible version 10 modification... if that's the case it probably isn't that far off since the word is version 10 beta will be going Release Candidate soon. You can always ask but I wouldn't count on an exact date.

Cool maybe I'll try the older stand alone installer as well. I'm going to try that success center guide link you posted as well... I'll let everyone know how it goes... I'm still new to LEM.

The key is what Tomaz D said here "4. Alerts on neighbor status change (configurable per neighbor)." Configure it on only on your two links BGP neighbors in the alert. You can get as fancy as you want with the advanced alert... combo of actual links and BGP neighbors peer status. There's NO reason to pull whole routing or…

Here's a really good resource on enabling IIS logging: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q300390/ I would think one of the first things to do is set the server to keep a larger size of log also.
-
@adeimel I don't understand this... I have a view with with The same Top XX reports... some showing last hour, some last 24 hours and it works fine. I've done this with top coversations and top endpoints.
-
so you got an alert off a USB Stick being removed/attached?
-
I found out myself by using "print to pdf" instead of "print to microsoft xps" that legend colors are now visible in the file. Not sure why though. I'm using the microsoft print to xps driver, and pdf995's print to pdf driver.

It does contain the hotfixes.

The tricky part is you can't update to NPM12.2 on windows 2008R2 so you can only upgrade to NPM12.1, then move the database over to new NPM12.1 server on windows 2016. After the move you can then update to NPM12.2 and associated modules with the new installer. We're doing a second iteration of my above upgrade today.…

Wow this is interesting extra information. I'm wondering now how these settings might help some of my other busy servers that do a lot of network activity!

Keep us posted on this...
