I feel your pain. Good thing about healthcare though is HiTech HIPAA. Throw a few compliance rules in regard to security and I can usually get things done. My motto has always been what any tech would go by, "if it ain't broke....don't fix it". I try to explain I don't want to create more work for myself than I need to,…

Thank you everyone! I don't think I've ever won anything before.

At my last job when XP's time came up we set a policy in place that would not allow desktops to connect to network, nor allow laptops to connect to the network or our portal. We started planning a year in advance (surprising considering it was an underfunded state department) to switch users to Windows 7, so they had…

I could be saying it wrong, but essentially I want 1 alert for drives. Then to be able to go into the drive and set a percent for the drive that is indicated by the person responsible for the nodes. I want to go into each drive and set a percentage for (not familiar w/ the correct term) let's say "drive threshold". So set…

I'm not sure if this is the right place but here goes! I need something that is a File Existence and File Age Monitor in one. The person over the server has requested to monitor for a file that usually isn't there, and if it does pop up, alert if it is there for more than 30 minutes. I think it is some sort of running…

Congrats to all of the winners this month!

Congrats winners! Eat a slice for me!

Other items we use are BMC Trackit (helpdesk), BMC Footprints (patch management and inventory control, (VMWare) Vsphere (monitoring), EMC Avamar (backups), Symantec's Netbackup. Some others are Milestone and S2. Any integration planned with any of these?

Thank you for all you do!

aLTeReGo This is how I want to set up our environment. People before me set individual alerts for a ton of stuff, and most was set at 90%, 95%. If i set thresholds on the drives themselves in Orion, what would the triggers in the alert need to look like? I don't see the options in alert manager. I was thinking something…

This is a great idea. I found this looking to see if there was a way to do this already. I have an issue here in the Data Center in which things are unmanaged and communication could be lacking. I would add this and give it the option for the admin to set this as a required field. Something happens and then people want to…

I noticed the yikes beside BMC. I don't really use it, but two other guys on the team focus on BMC. Is that one not good for patch management / inventory control?

Hmm.. wonder if it's an issue w/ powershell. I remember a while back i would randomly get errors and when running in debug mode , i would see some weird pipeline issue, handling error i think. here is closest i could find related to issue. i'm not a guru , but here is what i found. i'm sure you already tried some of this,…

does it work for a few hours or something, give that message, then starts working after a period of time? or do you have to stop the monitor to get it to resolve for a temporary period of time?

here is some documentation related to agent and manual install - https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/core-deploy-a-linux-agent-manually.htm

Without too much information, maybe a network drive that is supposed to mount is not available to you, or disconnected? Seems like at startup, the method to initialize this possible isn't working.

Log in to the system hosting the Main Orion installation. Open the SolarWinds Unmanage Scheduling Utility. Provide your admin login credentials to the Orion Web Console. Within the Unmanage Task Editor, click Create New Task and choose +Add Items. Select the focus of the task and click Add Items. Select the objects and…

Noticed the update does not install Job Engine v1, only Job engine v2, is this a mistake or by design? An issue I've noticed is that cisco devices just spin out when trying to "list resources" of node.

Anytime I need OIDs I go to the manufacturer's website to find the OID information or I do a search for the OID through the UDP in the MIB Tree: If you have access to the Engineer's ToolKit you can do an MIB Walk to better find the OID's for your specific device. It makes life much easier.

I would go with helpdesk ticket at a minimum, then you have a digital record of the request as well. Dobbs mentioned a ticket system connected with a CMDB which is nice as well because it creates that server when it is commissioned, and any work done or issues involving that server are attached to the object for a very…

I seem to be having the same issue. Did original poster figure out what their issue was?

THIS. In our environment, we have some nodes with 1 team, others with multiple teams. Just set up custom fields and name them something like "primarycontact1", "primarycontact2", etc... or whatever your heart desires. Then put in the team's email address in each of those primary contact fields you created. I recommend an…

Is everything compatible? The latest update from Jan 18th 2019 does not reflect what you are saying about Patch Manager: Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 and SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 Support - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help an…

Did you find a resolution to why the metrics were screwy in 7.1 vs 8.1/8.2 xtra?
-
Overall I would recommend setting a "commissioning and decommissioning" process set in place. That could be something as basic as a work order submitted with server name. The person who submits it needs to know what information you need and this could be used for multiple groups. So some basic information you may want in…

It looks like it became a feature in 6.1 . aLteReGo put out a blog while it was beta. Server & Application Monitor 6.1 - New Feature Overview and Beta Sign-Up
