Really interesting post adatole. Being on the back side of my career, I've been working on my exit strategy for more than a year now. My current plan is to not retire for another 5 or 6 years, but life is like a roll of toilet paper - it goes really slowly in the beginning and flies by at the end, so it's not too early to…

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get my hands on (figuratively speaking of course) SDN beyond some simple switches.

Just getting started with containers in a practical way. There are some really compelling features, although I'm not convinced they are as widely applicable as the pundits are saying.

Signed up. Very interested in hearing more about this. Thanks!

The link on embedding LPRs in road signs is an interesting read. Way too much opportunity for misuse there, and if it can be misused you can pretty much guarantee it will be.

Good post. Thanks. Definitely agree - before HCI you had to either do all the integration work yourself (with all the pitfalls and expertise that requires) or have someone do it for you. Getting all those pieces in place and working properly could take months. HCI solves that problem very effectively, quickly and reliably.…

Thanks for all the posts everyone. It was great.

Went back and looked at the autonomous taxi article again. There are so many things one could say about this but one thing that amazes me is that we've yet to have a truly viable flying car yet we're trying to jump to autonomous vehicles for transportation. How is that going to work when the personal use case has yet to be…

Thanks for the post. Still waiting for this to bear fruit for us. We've had a couple of teams working on it but they are extremely young/inexperienced and mostly seem to think CI/CD is daily pushes while basically ignoring unit testing, so most of the pushes are merely fixing messes that should never have been deployed to…

Good article. Baselines are critical - if you don't know what normal looks like it's really hard to know if it changed.

Nice write up. Looking forward to the continuing series. Thanks!

Great post rschroeder Can't believe I hadn't seen this one before. Must have been snoozing. Came up in the most liked feed this morning and I'm glad it did.

I used to wage my own private war against junk mail (mostly credit card offers). I'd take all the junk mail I got that day (or all I could fit) and mail it back to the credit card company in the BRE in their letter. Finally got tired of it but it was fun while it lasted.

Great intros for some generous folks. Hoping to make it to one of these one day.

Forgot one - Orion Dark Theme.

Congrats to all the winners!

Good stuff. Thanks for posting.

I didn't realize how many people had their iPhone batteries replaced. Having said that, my iPhones have done better with batteries than my Android devices. My son is still using my old 3GS with the original battery. Slow, but it does work. My Droid Turbo didn't even last 18 months.

Congrats to all the winners!

As always, thanks for a bunch of head-scratching, thought-provoking, laugh out loud links. Personally I give a big thumbs up to the gigabyte of geeks. Sounds good to me.

Nearly overthought this one.

Thwack camp week is finally here. Been waiting for this for months. Can't wait for it to start.

Whew. Got it right. I'm red and green color blind so I always get nervous when I have to look for anything red. Thank goodness for icons and other things to highlight stuff. Colored text is a killer.

This reminds me of the great useless superhero battles between Ryan and Colin on Whose Line Is It Anyway? - although this list is another order of magnitude more useless than any Drew ever came up with.

Well said patrick.hubbard. I like your definition a lot better than the conventional "are you compensated for what you do" definition used most often in sports. There are a lot of folks that are compensated for IT that are taking a lot more out of the system than they put into it.

Participated in the beta on this. There are a lot of really nice improvements. We've been on it for a few months now and it works great. Well done.

So true. So easy to get caught up in all the detail you lose focus on the fundamentals. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the flashback to my Dos days and some excellent comments @adatole. Hadn't heard of yak shaving before, but I sure have done it a lot. I'll have to save that one for an opportune moment. Reveal codes was one of the best things ever. I got to know Wordperfect so well that I could close my eyes and walk a user…

Most people don't write their own story, they read it. Someone else wrote it. As someone way down the road in terms of career (30+ years) your comments really resonate. There are times when the plan doesn't work out quite like you thought it would, but I ended up in a much better place once I decided what I wanted and set…

Completed. Always happy to give a positive review for DPA. It rocks! Love it.
