I run a very large deployment and to be honest I'm weak on DB stuff. I just don't see size as a problem much. Our DB does have a fragmentation issue. The built in tool has a defragment function which worked for a while but then stopped working right as we continued to grow. We had to write custom scripts to run reorg and…

There needs to be custom properties also so you can provide a way to separate out Alerts.

You could try MAXDOP and Processor Affinity. In short most servers now have a ton of real CPU cores and then a bunch of hyperthreaded cores. Lets talk about hyperthreading first. The jury is still out on if hyperthreading hurts or helps. In short I see it as a problem because with parallelism you potentially are sending…

Same here I am trying to monitor our UPS units and it would be great to have them show warning or red as needed when an alert is active.

I expect Solarwinds will provide a SAML function at some point. I believe they already do for the web helpdesk. I know my company wants a SSO/SAML solution eventually, this is something that we will need eventually.
-
Same concept and same solution.

I don't see it. 9 characters really?

The 2015 event has been put on hold until further notice.

Yep this month the question obfuscation system seems to be failing. I totally took huge chances on week 2, #1 and #2. Since I already am out for the TV because of week 1's question #2. Really don't want to be a poor sport here but ugh.

Definitely need to be able to at least do upgrades in parallel. I have a large deployment as well. I have 13 servers, and 11 FOE servers. It's quite ridiculous to upgrade these.

OMG.
-
Either that or just templates...
-
The MIB files should be split up also. At least until Solarwinds goes to 64-bit.
-
This feature has to be coming, otherwise sooner or later we are moving on to something else.
-
You don't even know how many synonyms I looked up for the various words that seemed related to this MODE.
-
I got todays by memory from my heavy research for yesterdays question. lol
-
I too would like to see what can be done to optimize this, splitting it up might be one solution. There may be other solutions too, like a lazy on demand maintenance and a nightly maintenance. My maintenance takes roughly 6 hours.

Can't wait for the ThinkGeek monies... Already looking at Walking Dead Roleplay Weapon: Daryl's Crossbow | ThinkGeek

All set for the last two prizes... BTW I really need a new laptop...

Wait, did it?

In the past this was either managed manually or with basic perl scripts. Now we are using NPM/NCM to provide additional visibility into the network and devices. To utilize NCM effectively we are backing up configurations nightly which we do for 30 days. After 30 days we reduce the saved copies to 1 per month. This allows…

I would like this as I personally see a need for UnDP & WMI. This fails today as UnDP requires SNMP. (My use would be for checking FOE stats)

Yes, actually I don't see why we can't have the same functionality from Advanced Alerts. Meaning in addition to adding negative conditions we also have the ability to do condition groups. -Adding "does not begin with", "does not end with", "does not contain", "does not match" -Adding condition groups (AND, OR subgroups)…

I'll be in Vegas all year so any day is good for me.

Okay finally getting around to this one. On #2 maybe I was going too fast but how is it wrong to say there is a WMI based agent? Surely the question doesn't indicate where the Agent is, but the server has a WMI agent to do the polling. Therefore the answer is True. This marked me wrong.

I support this, but as a work around I've learned SWQL and used the custom query resource on a page to make a joint alarm dashboard for our support teams. It works well. I just wish I could do it in SQL as the SWQL language on EOC is quite dated and doesn't support any cool functions.
-
Yeah any good references on NPM support for SSO like SAML?
-
erdzzy - In my experiences I've seen issues with additional pollers doing odd things and I recommend you get a support ticket to find out why it's showing that. * Not polling when you add a node * Not able to add a node at all (fails during list interfaces) * Server time on the additional poller needs to be the same as the…

Just a note the SDK does connect to EOC fine and is decent for testing queries. You have to make sure the SWIS type is set for EOC in the drop down. Also the EOC website applys some filters the SDK doesn't so while good you should always verify the final result on the website for additional issues.

Okay thanks for checking in.
