  • It's not available yet, but it's something we're exploring for a future release.
  • v4.0.1 is now available, which resolves an issue where the node list in the Cirrus application could take several minutes to load. Please see release notes for more details: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/cirrus/docs/ReleaseNotes/releaseNotes.htm
  • It appears from the session trace that your device presents a menu upon initial login. You need to tell NCM what to look for so it can continue with the login. The problem is based on your list of commands, it appears that this device is very different from any other menu devices we've seen in that it requires the user to…
  • You can't create the rules to cover all ports for combinations of IP address groups Can you clarify what you mean by this? What specifically were you not able to do?
  • What version of Cisco ASA release are you running? I know we had some issues with some older Cisco ASA software release versions where interfaces were being reported with the wrong indexes in flows preventing us from mapping them in Orion. Are you seeing any "received flow" events on the NTA summary view for the Cisco ASA?
  • That's correct. Dev has verified that this is due to prompt detection. When sending the macro commands, there is no prompt after each command so NCM waits to timeout before sending the next command. They liked your idea of using macros (e.g. ${EnablePromptDetection} and ${DisablePromptDetection}). Please attach/post the…
  • dengland, your best bet is to open a support ticket on this issue and attach your session traces.
  • Great, thanks for feedback. I've got this as high priority for the next release. If there are others out there looking for this capability as well, please chime in as I'll want to reach out to the folks on this thread to review prototypes, betas.
  • Brian, actually, if you could send me a screen shot via PM of what you're seeing in the website, that would really helpful. I'm with you on the ability to have more than 2 config types per device. We're evaluating whether this will be possible in the next release, so stay tuned.
  • I think there is some misunderstanding. As Francois pointed out previously, "this is a well-identified requirement for NCM, unfortunately, Cisco's API (CDS) is not publically available (internal and HW partners). This API is necessary to map automatically discovered devices with vulnerability, EOL info..." We are 100% with…
  • I think that 8.2(2).9 may have a problem with NTA 3.6, I've confirmed that the server Orion is running on is recieving netflow from the ASA and confirmed that our global network/sec op teams are recieving netflow on their QRadar box from the ASA but Orion isn't showing the data and believes the last time it received…
  • Great! Let us know how this works. There are two scenarios we're looking into ourselves: 1. Network device can act as an SCP client (and server) In this case, the method Sham described above should work if you install and SCP server on the NCM server and make sure it stores to the same location as TFTP server normally…
  • tommiyau, I appreciate you considering NPM for your project. There are workarounds that others have mentioned, so it is possible to use NPM to meet your needs in the interim although we understand this is less than ideal. I can assure you that we are actively working on this enhancement. The goal is to release this support…
  • Why did Solarwinds go away from the enterprise and site licenses for kiwi? We removed them to help simplify the purchasing and maintenance renewal process for our customers. It's important to note that the singular Kiwi CatTools version available today is what was previously known as the "enterprise" version in terms of…
  • FYI, 9.5.1 is now generally available. See this announcement for more details.
  • mstolle, we really appreciate you sharing the results of your testing with the community, but the "test" patch was only intended for support distribution. While it may have fixed your specific issue, it's too early to tell whether it will fix everyone's issue. I apologize if expectations weren't set appropriately. For…
  • We didn't do any specific testing on Windows NT, so this isn't an officially supported platform. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't work. If Windows NT supports the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB, it should work. The easiest way to check to install the Windows component for SNMP and try polling it.
  • Hello. I am reading this thread with interest as one of the most critical parts of the product, AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting) is being treated as a "side show", almost an after-thought. From this thread I see that it is having difficulty even being prioritized. In our organization we employ AD…
  • You can edit the device templates, but you'd need to set the prompt to the device name (e.g. 5509). This means you'd have to have a device template per device if the prompts are just the device name. NCM needs some way to detect that the login succeeded. If changing the prompts is possible, that seems like the easier route.
  • I'll have a template you can try tomorrow that is based on the commands you sent me. I'd like to setup a web meeting tomorrow to walk through this with you and hopefully get you to a point where you're comfortable with writing templates on your own. BTW, is {ctrl} really a carriage return new line or do you really have to…
  • In my Manage Views, I have two Config Listing entries. Add both to cover both types of SysName entries. Then just edit the views to correspond to your particular config folder pattern (e.g. I had to add the domain name .xxx.com after the ${Caption} for my devices with domain names). I know its a bit of a brute force…
  • What version are you using? We've made significant transfer engine improvements since 4.0.1 and several customers have reported faster upload and downloads speeds with NCM 5.0. Also, are you doing the rollouts via a job or by right-click execute script? Jobs will execute scripts in parallel while right-click execute script…
  • Right, so it really depends at how granular your forensic investigation needs to be. For example, if your analysis needs to be at the hourly level, you can look at this level of granularity until it rolls up into daily data.
  • I figured that's what you might say So, just to confirm, you'd like only users with Admin role to be able to see the full report in the website. All other users (assigned the Engineer or WebViewer Role) would not be able to see usernames and passwords.
  • Thanks for the feedback. Cirrus will continue to be able to be run standalone and it will have its own website. However, we will also provide an integration plug-in to the Orion website to allow fault and performance and configuration management details to be viewed in the same console (see for more details)
  • Ciag, you might try restarting the NCM Polling Service (which also updates our policy cache) to see if that fixes this issue. Also, if you're not on the latest versions (5.1), I would suggest upgrading.
  • For the Orion-Cirrus integration, that is certainly the thinking. However, we still need to provide a standalone Cirrus website for those customers who haven't yet realized the tremendous value of having both Cirrus and Orion ;-)
  • No need. We've already confirmed it's a bug and it should be fixed upon upgrade to 6.0
  • Thanks for the continued comments and discussion. I can tell you that scalability and simplified visualization of data are absolutely key themes for our upcoming releases. Our goal is to take an evolutionary approach to address the use-cases described above. As Jeff noted above, we made some significant strides in the 3.5…
  • Ciag, thanks for the feedback. I'll see if we can add the ability to insert blank fields instead of 0's for blank custom properties. For internal folks, this is being tracked as #4309
