Can you elaborate what you mean by "manage servers"? NCM does include some basic inventory reporting for Windows-based servers, but it can't run scripts or perform config backup operations if that's what you're looking for.
-
You can add it as an external website in Orion (Admin > Customize > External Websites), but you'll still have to login manually to Kiwi Syslog Web Access.
-
There is no way to clone tags per se, but you can use mass edit to fill in monitor tag information across multiple monitors at once.
-
Our replacement for "saved filters" is called SmartGroups. I would suggest tagging your monitors and creating a SmartGroup that only includes monitors based on that tag. This way the users can login and access their SmartGroup.

You may need to create a modified template to match the command sequence for your Nortel 3510-24t switches. Please try downloading/reviewing the device command template tech ref we just posted to see if that helps you troubleshoot. If you're still unable to get this working, let us know and we'll troubleshoot further.

I haven't seen that error message before. Please open a ticket with support and include the exact steps you took to get to this point so they can troubleshoot.

If you know the OID for the value you are wanting to capture (usually can find this through googling), you can simply specify this in the SNMP Monitor Wizard. If you would like to see the HP Proliant MIB in an SNMP Tree (so you can walk the MIB), you'll need to send your Linux HP Proliant MIBs to technical support so they…

What version of Orion NPM and NCM integration module are you running? With NCM 5.5 and later, the integration module resources should respect Orion node limitations. So, if you've configured an Orion NPM user with the ability to only see nodes X, Y, Z, the resources should only show data related to those nodes. If this…

According to this feature matrix, the 2910al Switch does not support sFlow v5.

Actually, there's no need to disable the Syslog and Trap servers of Orion. NCM Syslog and Trap server are really just copies of the Orion version. RTCD doesn't care which database the messages are being stored in. It simply requires that you setup the appropriate rule on a config change Syslog or Trap and then execute the…

Not today, but this is on our roadmap. If there are others interested in this capability, please speak up with your use-cases for conditional config pushes.

Per this thread, it appears you need to back up the .ucs file via TFTP or SCP to get all the necessary files for a full restore. I believe the .ucs file is a binary file. NCM standard config download process only accepts text-based configs to avoid corrupting config compares and config change reporting, so you'll need to…

BTSpaul, thanks for the abbreviated list I'd like to talk through these enhancements via phone to ensure we're capturing the entire driving use-cases behind your requests. I'll send you a private email to setup the call.

One option is to go to File > Settings > Custom Macros and add your own Global Login and Global password. E.g. ${GlobalUserName2} ${GlobalPassword2}

For products still on old licensing (NPM, NCM), there's nothing to do since there's no maintenance checking that occurs during upgrades. If you're running products that have moved to new licensing (NTA 3.6, IPAM 1.x, IPSLA 3.x, APM 3.x, EOC 1.1 or later, Toolset 10.0 or later), you'll be provisioned new activation keys…

Hi Ciag, we'd be happy to look into this for you. To do so, we'll need a session trace of the upload process. 1. Enable session tracing (Go to File > Settings > Session Tracing to enable sess 2. Perform upload to your Cisco ASA 3. Post session trace for the Cisco ASA (Go to <install dir>\Configuration…

Ender6600, we definitely want to help you get up and running, but we haven't seen this error before. Are you currently working with one of our sales engineers? In any case, please open a support ticket (use Evaluator for customer ID) and someone will work with you to get up and running. Thanks, -Chris

Hi Jon, we're working on the next release now. We don't have any specific monitors for Citrix, RDP, and printers but I'll definitely add these to the list of enhancements. You can definitely change the TCP ports used for our HTTP and HTTPS monitors. If you're looking for generic TCP port mapping, check out the Telnet…

Just to clarify, are you trying to download configs using SNMP and TFTP from Riverbed? If so, I don't believe Riverbed devices support the Cisco MIB we leverage for setting up TFTP transfers via SNMP. You'll have to use Telnet/Telnet or Telnet/TFTP. I'll send you a private email with draft of a tech ref we're working on…

Long story short, this is allowed because we have some inventory reports that apply to Windows servers. In the past, some customers expressed the desire to use NCM as an inventory tracking tool for their network, including servers. We've not enhanced this functionality further as it's not NCM's primary use-case - network…

My understanding is HuaWei are equivalent to 3Com and there are templates in the content sharing zone for those switches. See this link for extending Cirrus device support:

In the new NCM 5.5 integration module, you now have access to all the capabilities available in the standalone NCM console. You can see this here: http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/NCM/Summary.aspx NPM node limitations and account view limitations are respected. So, you can restrict their ability to run scripts on…

Can you please submit a support ticket and attach your Event.sdf database to the ticket?

Yes, the SOAP interface still works for v9, but the API was not updated to account for the "device" concept added in v9. To add a Monitor to a Device, simply specify the Device's ID as the ParentID for the Monitor when it is being added. https://support.ipmonitor.com/devdocs/ed8a241d1a1444feb767d4608d72c836.aspx

Hi George, thanks for the post. This is actually very timely because we're working on a fix for the issue you described as we speak and we'd love your help in testing. Please open a ticket with support and have them assign your case to #1722 in development and we'll get you a prototype of the fix for testing.

Don, I'd recommend upgrading to 5.5.2 if you haven't already. If the problem persists, please open a support ticket on this issue.

No need to inventory all the nodes again. You just need to select just the affected devices in tree, right click and choose Inventory Selected Nodes

This is actually a common feature request. One of the things we're working on is the ability to perform global searches and filtered summary views. In this way, when you performed a search, you would get a filtered summary view that you could then drill-down to the relevant endpoints. See the what we're working on post…
