FYI- I'm running about 500 devices, both Orion and Cirrus, with SQL, all on one box. Dual Processor 3.0Ghz and 4GB RAM. CPU is less than 10% and memory is steady at 65%. You can never have too much memory. On large reports it craps out.
-
Craig- You could use the Policy Manager to do this or create a custom report (probably better). If you need help, just post.
-
Yes, you must enable SNMP on the PIX. Refer to cisco.com, you should find instructions on properly setting it up.
-
No, SW is a monitoring tool not a configuration tool. If you're trying to limit downloads via the internet use your proxy or firewall or router or whatever you use to connect to the internet (if that device can even do it).

CCO Document ID: 71068 Background Information The Cisco Secure ACS Solution Engine, also known as the Cisco Secure ACS Appliance, is based on Microsoft Windows, and therefore is vulnerable to PMTUD attacks and to attacks based on ICMP "hard" error messages. Such attacks are detailed in the Crafted ICMP Messages Can Cause…

That doesn't work for me and I don't want a 'hack'. I still need telnet URL's to work for other things.

I've never worked with an Aironet device, but one thing that could be wrong is the tftp part of your statement. Yours (you don't need the full path to the tar file) ap#archive download-sw /overwrite t10.10.10.8/.../c1200-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA.tar Try ap#archive download-sw /overwrite t10.10.10.8/c1200-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA.tar

Per the online manual-- "While the SLX version is not limited in the number of elements that it can manage in terms of licensing, there is performance limitations on how many elements can be managed based on the server hardware. Current technology limits management to an estimated 6,000 – 8,000 elements per SLX polling…

File, Settings, Configs, Config Mirror, change the Config-Archive Directory to wherever you see fit.

Are you running VTP? If so you only have to backup the VTP servers vlan.dat. Otherwise Mithrihills suggestion is how I would do it. We don't backup them up (and we don't use VTP) because you can tell what VLANs should be on the switch by looking at the config and/or the trunks.
-
James- According to SW website, Cirrus v3 is available and supports multiple vendors, including HP. I just looked and I *think* v2 supports it too (at least there is a Device Template for HP switches). http://www.solarwinds.net/Configuration-Management/Overview.htm#Multi-Vendor%20Support

In System Manager, right-click the node, choose node properties, and select unmanage node.

IPMonitor (recently purchased by SW). I would assume it will take a year or so before they are integrated though. www.ipmonitor.com/default.aspx

Whatever is needed, typically memory and CPU. Real memory is the physical amount of memory you have installed.
-
I believe only ESX has direct MIBS (.1.3.6.1.4.1.6876). I monitor the host machine and the vm's directly. I don't think you can monitor the VM virtual interfaces directly on the host.

Are you using AAA?
-
It's a bug in the PIX OS, upgrade to latest and that should resolve it.
-
I would use the IP Network Browser. FYI- Orion has all this built in and you could just run a report and get the info.
-
No
-
Did you configure SNMP or just install it?
-
You have to setup the trap reciever to send it to syslog, then you would view via the syslog in the web view.
-
You shouldn't have to (mines working).
-
Lucya- Thanks for posting your work! I've had a couple customers ask for this, but have not had the time (expertise maybe) to get it working.
-
Yup your right, I'll request another key from you guys. Thanks.

The OID name is ifPhysAddress.ifindex The OID number is 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.6.ifindex For Example: ifPhysAddress.339 CORE#sh snmp mib ifmib ifindex | inc 339 GigabitEthernet13/1: Ifindex = 339 I suggest you add "snmp-server ifindex persist" to your devices. The SNMP ifIndex persistence feature provides an interface index…

A common practice is to add the serial number to the chassis-id. "snmp-server chassis-id FKH123456789"

Can someone or Solarwinds post the Solarwinds_AddIn.dll ?
-
Denny- It's a good thought, but from what I understand, the VM switches are generally dumb. They aren't configurable (like a physical switch), aren't manageable, they don't pass STP, etc. I have never experienced an issue with the virtual switches, but our VM guy is pretty good so he knows how to configure them. Even on my…
