Using SQL Filters if you have an exact match then you can use the Operators =, >, <, <>, etc... if you want to use any Wildcards in your query then LIKE and NOT LIKE need to be used.

Install the seat on a server that users can log into and run it from there... unless that is a violation of the EULA. Other than that, I would like the idea of license block sets of 10-25 at a time or a tiered option less than 5, 6-10, 11-20, unlimited (and possibly a network license pool option.. in a way that would not…

I understand the filtering to filter based on what that device's string is; and it will reject traps from anything without the proper trap <Community Filter> But just as well, with the Cisco, your Traps are sent and forgotten, udp? Your informs, is the trap type that waits for verification and would use the community…

What Orion apps do you have installed and what general items are you trying to monitor? For most needs you may not need a domain admin if your devices are setup to allow your Orion system to monitor. A few points for reference; If using SAM, for Non Admin Account Setup - How to create a non-administrator user for SAM…

If you create a shortcut for your 'BROWSER' then edit that shortcut to what mcam has (customize to your servername on site & your ViewID so it opens to the View you want) then drop that Shortcut into your 'StartUp' Folder, it will log you in every time. * Issues with this setup * If you have a PW policy then you have to…

As the monitoring team, we need to see things as they happen. This view shows us Nodes and interfaces with problems. Also a full hardware health overview and the graph on the right is a graph of the pollers pulling # of users on our VPN (the break in the graph was poller server repair earlier today) Normally a break or…

2012new, I came across this on a clients system the other day. Same issue opening the DB Manger showed the same error. We even did an update from 12.4 to 12.5 and added NTA to the mix, no change. After verifying the accounts in use, we made an adjustment on the SQL side to use all SQL Auth for the DB's. Adjusted the owner…

Keep a simple argument, and place it under an ALL Conditions Must be Met...... Row ID = X Tabular Poller Status = Y

I have a few in the build out stage, and very minimal monitoring on them at the moment. I am looking for any insight into this as well, and will provide what I find out when I do have the time. You are not alone.

I have seen everything update, except for possibly today. I should have looked closer at my points before answering.

1. Standardize your SNMP Strings - and NOT the device Default! 2. Rank your devices for arrangement -> Either by Tier, or Geographic Location - You want to Customize the AJAX from this so you are not always browsing by Machine type (we have 100's of the same machine types in some cases, especially the Data Centers) 3.…

tdanner, would you please review and provide some notes?

I am curious if you can post the full Alerting Conditions? (Leave out/Blur any internal secrets).... - Is there a scope on the alert, any limitations based on Node Type, Custom Properties, etc. - When you say setup Disk alerts for Warning, High and Critical thresholds are these 3 separate alerts or 1 alert with an OR and 3…

Events are just that the events within your orion application. Anything that happens with the entities that you have chosen to manage. This would include status change, change in monitoring method, adding or removing entities, or changing settings(globally) or specific Entity settings. In the case of the volume being…

You could do this with a SAM HTTP Monitor component. Also a 'simulation'/playback can be achieved with WPM. What Apps/Modules do you have licensed or are working with? Just monitor the end point/website; web address(name or IP) and port (80/443). -CharlesH Loop1 Systems: SolarWinds Training and Professional Services *…

Usually with more than one Web engine the Primary will be set within the 'Websites' table in the DB, you should only have 1 Primary. All others listed should be Additional. If there are two IP's (possibly DNS setup for both as well) on that server that reference the web pages then you might have an old reference. Verify…

Your statistics polling is causing the issue more than likely - set that to 3-5 minutes to see what that does.... but usually I see that set somewhere between 5-9 minutes for Stats polling.

I tried several variations, '', ' ', null, (), ( ), blank space, et al. Nothing seems to parse, not even is NULL or Matches NULL.. For something like this I normally use a query for nodes not in a group; select Caption from Nodes where not Caption in ( SELECT distinct FullName FROM ContainerMemberSnapshots where…

Very nice.. The setup is a good idea to sub a show anything.. we have contractors that do not have a lot of access so this would be useful. Can you give insight on your OIDs for module status on the 4500 series?,, 4507r+e , 4510, etc.

Bump; I have noticed that all my nodes of a 3750 color are running; Cisco IOS Software, C3750E Software (C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 12.2(55)SE3 one runs SE4 Which may be code version related, if anyone is aware of a bug chime in. BUT These alerts did not stop, about 8 boxes and the alert just kept sending emails…

When I build this out, I usually follow a a sequence of setting up the source interfaces if needed, creating the group, then building the user within the group and lastly setting the host. That does not always make a difference, but for some devices in my past; it made all the difference. Check your setup with show snmp…

This may come in handy... i Use tables to gather these... then you may need to edit or check the RowID's you want (http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/3430) 5K & 2K (5xxx and the FEX'es) info comes in with these tables. Physical Info : 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.2 Serial # (if applicable) : 1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11 Power…

Cisco's 4507, 4510, and the nexus do this.... in some cases they have moved to an 'enhanced mib table' as to prevent other entities from being able to easily poll/monitor their devices.. Why you say... so you buy Prime. The Cisco Way!

I am currently trying to figure this out, I had 600+ nodes that were unknown health earlier, now 400+ gonorthe I will see if your option relieves the issue on a few.

sans has a good idea with dependencies.... this can be tedious with many nodes. Otherwise set a new custom property - for nodes / interfaces, whatever you need. 'Maintenance Mode' = yes/no or true/false Once you have this custom property add the condition to your alerts... AND Maint Mode = False or NO so the scheduled…

SO I had to clean up to take this...

I can not remember how I came to this; but I have a report to show me nodes that are not in a group. select Caption, NodeID, Nodes.Location from nodes where not Caption in ( SELECT distinct [FullName] FROM [ContainerMemberSnapshots] where [EntityDisplayName] = 'Node' ) I will see if I can come of with anything else.…

RichardLetts is correct about that - Wireless takes up a lot... seeing your APM in the top 5 makes me curious if there have been any increased Hardware Health monitoring? and for god sakes man, limit your log file size! j/k - cause your DB is still far smaller than mine....I poll for too many tables.
