Only the controllers are counted for licensing, we do not charge for the thin AP's if discovered via the controller. If you add the thin AP's as ICMP only nodes, then you will be charged a license for each thin AP. Hopefully that makes sesne

First question to dig into this, do you have these hosts saved in your host list with the defined settings for each host set and saved as well?

For Fibre Channel Switches we support Brocade, McData and Cisco MDS. Obviously VSAN is only applicable to Cisco MDS. If you just add your Fibre Channel Switch to NPM, specify the SNMP string and let it go through it's normal polling cycle, depending on the above answers you will get specific sets of data. For all three we…

I recommend opening a support ticket to look into this further. Are you using SNMPv3? Real-time gauges don't work with SNMPv3
-
Probably best to open a support ticket to look into, I am not sure what is going on here.
-
Nothing to be concerned about. With NPM we ship functionality in the Virtualization tab, which is internally called VIM. We do not charge you for this it comes with NPM, this is just erroneous logging. I will file a defect to remove it.

Check out this post and let me know if it answers your questions and if not, what other questions you have.

I can log a defect. Can you give me the version of IOS you are running which support EnergyWise?
-
We have a couple different things depending on what your requirements are. You mentioned Syslog already and we have the Windows Event Log Forwarder which can forward events logs to syslog and that can be downloaded from the additional components sections of the customer portal. Also you can look at our Kiwi Log Viewer…

Do you have real-time anti-virus scanning enabled on the Orion server? If yes, exclude the inetpub directory, that will help.
-
This issue doesn't ring a bell for me. Are you a customer or evaluating the product? If a customer, do you have a support ticket open? What version of Windows is the end point you are remote controlling?
-
No, this is not currently possible today, this is an open enhancement request.

Soon

Have you seen this blog post I did here
-
You can also look at having a linked background in Network Atlas and display that as a map
-
You can do this today without downtime. Using the utility we provide in Monitor Polling Engines on the Orion server under SolarWinds Orion -> Advanced you can move elements from one poller to another in real time.
-
By default, the re-discovery interval is 30 mins I believe, what behavior are you seeing
-
I have not seen these, what browser are you using?
-
Regarding on how to get a map from LS into Orion NPM, you would have to export the map (image) from LS and then import into Orion Map Maker as background and drag your status icons around on top of it.
-
I will get this logged to consider for a future release
-
It is best to just install evaluation and try it out
-
Wanted to provide you an update, our QA team looked into this and this issue only appears to behave like this on IE, if you use Firefox, pressing enter should work correctly to execute the search. A defect has been filed to address in IE.
-
Noted, thanks for the feedback

The custom properties are completely separate from Orion NPM. Main issue was NPM created custom properties on nodes, interfaces and volumes. IPAM only knows about IP Addresses. IPAM does not currently support account limitations. It only has roles which allow different users functionality, but right now they would see…

No, this is currently not possible today to give a user this granular of rights/control
-
Roselyn, Can you provide more detail in what you are looking to do. Are you looking to push scripts out to network devices or servers? Orion NPM already has an embedded Syslog Server. Brandon

How many elements do you have and what is your polling interval set to? Also do you have a lot of alerts defined and setup as well as Universal Device Pollers?
-
No, not currently on the web site. This is an open enhancement

We support what we get back from the IF-MIB. If you do a list resources on that node are there not others showing? If no, if you do a MIB walk outside of the product on the IF-MIB, what gets returned?

Usually the place that needs the most horsepower in an installation is on the SQL server, so I recommend putting 64 bit on the SQL server box with 64 bit SQL Server. Putting more RAM on your Orion server won't hurt though since Window 2008 can take advantage of the extra RAM
