Why are you trying to install v8? Current shipping version is 9.5.1?
-
Do you have any other Syslog running on the Orion server? Kiwi for example?
-
I believe you also sent a note into our customer service team as well on this and as the team investigated there, we also saw this behavior and have logged a bug accordingly to be fixed in a future release of the product.
-
I believe you were mis-informed. This is not the primary use case for Kiwi Syslog. What you want is Orion NPM which will show you interface utilization, see here And potentially Orion NTA which will tell you what is using the bandwidth per interface, see here
-
If you downloaded the package since SP3 was released, then yes, it does
-
One method would be to go and look at the Syslog DB table in the DB and see how much size it is and how many records
-
Couple things: 1- in 9.5 we have a new feature in which you can set user ports with a field called unplugged, so when they undock and go home for the evening, you do not get 5000 alerts for node down, they will just show as unplugged. 2- have you figured out the UnDP to pull what you want from the node?
-
The total transfer for the month number comes from Orion adding up all of the transfer it has polled for that month. Orion has two ways to deal with counter rollovers, which can be quite frequent (many per day on a busy interface with 32-bit counters). You can toggle between them in System Manager: Counter rollover is very…

We have an enhancement in the system to make this better in a future version
-
I would recommend upgrading to a newer version, the current GA version is 10.0
-
Make sure your account has the right AD rights. If you go and look at the Accounts table in the database, the last column should be SID. If that is blank, then your account does not have enough rights. Either get someone with high rights or get your account updated, delete and try re-adding
-
The images did not come through, could you re-post them?
-
Yes this is on the roadmap, specifically business hour reporting. It is not in the upcoming 10.7 release, but we have started prototyping a solution for this.
-
Have you setup your infrastructure to send Syslog traps to the Kiwi Syslog server IP Address?
-
We are looking into this further. Do you have a MIB browser installed on the Orion server you can do a quick walk?
-
Yes something very similar to this, but this a little broader. If x matches y then use these credentials, assign these values to the custom properties, assign these UnDP's, etc. Not in the next release, but something we have had many discussions on.
-
It should I believe, can you open a support ticket please
-
In the advanced alert manager UI there is a drop down to select if this alert is against a node, interface, volume etc. under trigger conditions. Under there, you should find an option specific to virtual machines.
-
Just thinking out loud here, anyone from the community please jump in. Does the device log this in any way you can send out a Syslog or SNMP Trap we can key off of?
-
There are a bunch of tutorials here besides the docs. Regarding your Servers, you need to make sure SNMP is enabled on them to get those stats, it sounds like you don't have that enabled and configured
-
Not currently, I will log this as an enhancement
-
Please do open a ticket so we can look into. What version are you running?
-
Orion does not currently support AD authentication, this is something we have as an open feature to add to the product in the future. I am unaware of any workaround
-
Might be worth a support ticket. But check and make sure SNMP is enabled on those boxes and the community string is correct
-
How long have those nodes that are down, but you cannot see in the view been down?
-
johnsm, are you good?
-
Server Management is not a common task that people typically do from NPM. You could probably script something, like you said. I will add a feature enhancement to the system to look at for a future release.
-
No formally documented way. You may be able to copy back into SQl, but you would be on your own with that.
-
We typically recommend if you are going to invest, it is on the SQL side. So do x64 there for sure.
