Battle #1. You guys have the our P.O. analyst as the admin account on our account. After arguing with customer service, I am now going to have to get her to set up an account, then make me the Admin. And there is no way I am going to give her the log in password for our customer portal...so I guess we are at a stand still.

Above all else, one thing is for certain: We networking professionals should expect tomorrow’s technology to create more complex networks resulting in even more complex problems to solve. For years, I have always viewed networking as a very mundane, repetitive role. However, whether I was right or wrong, looking at all the…

We have a great process for Patch Management in our Windows Environment, however, they are just now implementing a system to automate Unix Patching. Today, it is a very manuek process.

DanielleH this topic seems to have a lot of community and mvp support. Can someone from Solarwinds speak to the hesitancy to implement this request?

To your comment on thresholds, another stake holder in our organization purchased Splunk. A fine product I have no doubt, but when they configured the product, they set threshholds so low that Business Units receive literal 100's of email notifications a day. Well, those emails have become junk mail to say the least. Shame…

You know what takes the fun out of these monthly missions? All the whining and complaining. Both questions so far this month were give me, common sense questions. I am really confused as to what the complaints are...Thwack gives you stuff for free and the opportunity to win free stuff. Have a good attitude.

I did not realize how proactive our company is about compliance education. I think i have gotten all the questions without a hint so far from company education on our intranet and annual compliance training.

Balancing the excellence of Apple Products and their ever changing ecosystem of proprietary parts becomes quite cumbersome at times. Then again, my Ipad 2 mini has outlived countless other tech purchase of the android and amazon variety.

The more I think about it, the more excited I am about this idea. I am literally so stoked, I have already staged a couple of days writing... Good job adatole

You shouldn't be running unpatched versions of SQL 2000—that's what you need to know. Talk about quick and to the point

In the most awesome book "How Google Works", they posit that the most important thing in IT is not being the expert in "the thing" but the concept of "the thing" and the process of learning "the thing." The example they use is programming languages. The language of today will not be the language of tomorrow. Is is far…

We need this for our WMI nodes.

Speaking of trust, our CISO shared a story of doing a sight survey to the data center of a potential vendor. The "cloud" that they were trusting their data and what would ultimately be our data if we had used the vendor, was housed in an old Yieldings store front...complete with unsecured glass store front windows and the…
