  • Was there ever an outcome to this issue? I've not really been bothered by it up to the moment, but NCM has a bit more visibility for me now and so I went looking and found this issue from quite some time ago. I have backups running nightly, all graphs work as expected, except this one chart. I have set the timeframe, even…
  • I cam across this looking for similar function ... I think it is a little better in that it removes nodes without a SysName, useful if you have ICMP only nodes and don't want the update making their captions all NULL. Query to display nodes where caption and SysName don't match: SELECT Caption, SysName, IP_Address FROM…
  • Any feedback on the other part of my question? 1) Referring to below example, I created a dashboard using custom HTML, using IMGs from WAN interfaces of interest. Is there a way to NOT display the sub-title, sub-sub titles, and text below the graph? I want something that is very clean and uses minimum amount of space.
  • Application Defintion needs to be expanded in some key ways: Currently, if you want all traffic TO and FROM a particular server classified as an application you must create TWO application definitions. So the application definition should allow combining at least two source/dest combinations and aggregate them as a single…
  • I continue to be unimpressed with Solarwinds support of F5 devices in general. NCM does not adequatly capture a backup of the Big-IP devices and the alternatives provided thus really just fall way short of abeing a reasonble supported option. This, despite F5 supposedly being a "Synergy Technology Partner", which really…
  • Ok, I went back and re-read and I think I undrestand this now ... there is an account called "DirectLink" and the instructions describe creating a default view for this accont. Thus it sounded like you could do this for only a single view. In re-read I think I understand it now to be that once this DirectLink account is…
  • Awesome! That took care of it!
  • Add me to the list of your customers that want you to think more about it. ;-)
  • Thanks! The main problem did indeed turn out to be with the agent service account. I changed that to use a local admin account and it is working fine now. I did ultimately end up using a batch file though, passing the arguments to it and then letting the batch file pass the parameters on to the actual .exe. This allowed me…
  • Template, yes! This proposed solution is rather inelegant (or even unworkable) for a number of reasons. Including the challenge in making multiple changes ... export/bulk import is a work-around to mass changes but we really need the ability to select groups of devices and be able to mult-edit shared/common fields, such as…
  • When doing multi-row selection, you can use the regular shift or control key modifiers as you would in Explorer. When you do this, don't click on the checkbox (far left in the row). Click empty space in the row, or text (that isn't linked). This works for any grid in the module. Give it a try! If you find my instructions…
  • 7) Yes ... seemed like an intuitive thing to do .. and keep finding myself wanting to do it. After you have single-edited a bunch of IPs and you are bleary eyed focusing from the checkbox to the edit button is annoying, so double-click would just be "nice". 10) The current heirarchy largely assumes that you would assign…
  • Ok, so possibly expanding. Doesn't expand when doing the TEST function in AlertManager. When the action actually triggers it does appear in Slack with the appropriate URLs.
  • That sounds like it would work for what I want, however, it appears to be tied to a specific username rather than being a property of a username. So I can only have a single DirectLink view, is this correct?
  • I am in process of doing discovery now and agree that what Terry is asking about would make a great feature. Identifying discovered interfaces as having CDP enabled is a great way to determine that the interfaces are "infrastructure" ports. And this is precisely what I would want to monitor. On even a small discover I am…
  • Does this work differently than the manual import? I stepped through the "job" but it didn't appear any different so it was clear that it would merge the fields or create duplicate nodes as the manual import does.
  • Totally makes sense. Thank you!!
  • I am able to ssh to the device just fine. I have verified using PuTTY on the NCM server itself. I *did* have enable levels set, but have now disabled them. Under communication it is set to Auto Determine and all SSH settings are also auto (though I have tried manually setting them as well). Similar results: [8/18/2009…
  • They are all mostly under my control ... all routers, but not all support IPSLA and not all do I necessarily need the additional MOS information, etc. ICMP would fit the bill entirely for me. I don't have a need for the other functions like HTTP or FTP.
  • I use NetMRI for most policy reporting ... NCM is getting close to being able to replace it. Having the dynamic selection limited to IS or IS NOT is very limiting. The string "IOS" almost always appears in the System Description field and would be a good way to do this, but NCM would need to allow for a "contains" option.
  • Remedy does have an open API, so if you have developers on staff they may be able to assist with something. We use a custom java client that utilizes the API to create ticket entries. Alerts in Orion then use the command line option to call the java app and feed it the necessary variables. It would still be *great* if…
  • Great post, very helpful. For some reason the AlertDetailsURL and AlertAcknowledgeURL are not expanding. Everything else expands just fine. Ideas?
  • I have a few dashboards I use for various purposes, I'll try to share a few. This one is an attempt to get key site utilization in a single pane. I'd really like more real-estate. I will probably re-do it as a single larger custom HTML instead of a differnet customs for each interface. However, I think the biggest gain…
  • The feature requires registration. In the Service Manager, go to the Help menu and select "Request a 30 day trial key". Once you receive the registration email, go back to Service Manager, Help Menu, and select Enter registration details. After everything restarts you should be seeing the log entries. Took me a while to…
