We contract with a local company to either repurpose/resell our retired hardware (after we've securely wiped drives), or, if it won't sell, to properly dispose of hardware in an environmentally friendly manner. The disposal service includes secure destruction of all media, with certificate for record keeping.

This would be a killer feature -- I have already received several internal requests to add a view like this.

JSON parser please.

Did you disable scanning on those address? That should prevent IPAM from changing them back from used to available.

Any hopes on getting this in after the UI change in NPM 12?

In addition to what oiram mentioned, I'd like to be able to add formatting options to a report that apply when the report is exported to PDF. For example, adding page breaks so that the PDF export doesn't have sections that jump pages unnecessarily.

Where do users go NetFlow will reveal the truth It can't be denied

Just a thought here, but could you instead change the properties of the interface to "Display interface as unplugged rather than down", and then use an alert to notify if the interface ever comes up?

Ditto!

I wouldn't say there's any real alert management, just alert creation. The alerts are sent do a distribution group and then individuals action those alerts as needed.

Good one

Thank you Solarwinds! The Nexus tablet will be cool, but I'm most excited for the Toolset license!

I'm pretty sure that the setting really applies to the status of an interface, versus the actual physical presence of a cable. For example, I use this setting on all my access switches where I don't care if a port is down -- the cable is still technically present, but the state of the interface is down. The real benefit of…

Another option for you would be to use filters inside those resources. For example, SQL servers typically run with high memory utilization all the time, so in the 'Top XX Nodes by Percent Memory Used' resource, we use a filter to remove all nodes with SQL in the name: Filter Nodes: Caption not like '*SQL*'

Maybe someone can clarify this, but I thought that polling by SNMP already included ICMP polling -- I've had plenty of instances where SNMP has stopped responding, but the box still shows 'UP' because NPM is still using ICMP for basic host reachability. So I think you're already getting what you want out of the box. The…

Yes -- we pump all of our logs (application server, firewall, network gear, Exchange, etc) into Splunk right now. One big benefit was that it allows us to limit developer access to servers for log reading, and allows us to setup some alerts based on certain log messages, and logging rates.

I think these graphics help to size up the zettabyte: And as a resident of Utah, I'd just like to say that apparently we're not too far out in the sticks for Solarwinds to want to be part of the action here http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=25116027

@"tony.johnson" I'd also be interested in having this as a built-in option. In my case I'm only interested in disabling the default login boxes on an Additional Web Server, but the general idea is the same. I'm going to try the steps you recommended, as well as @"bdufresne", and see how it goes.

Thanks for your comment, wluther. My issue with using SAM for this functionality, even for single OID objects, is the licensing. If this functionality were moved to SAM, then UnDP's, or what would then be SNMP Monitors, suddenly become very expensive for everyone except those in the unlimited license count territory…

All done. To be safe, I put my thwack username in all four boxes.

I've been mostly good this year, so I'm asking Santa for some home theater goodies. My wish list will be: New TV (currently have a 10 year old Samsung 42") Some kind of soundbar that emulates surround. My room doesn't lend itself well to placing speakers unfortunately. Black out shades!

As long as the price is better than Splunk, I'm all for it!

Yes, seeing it across any other browser. But I just had a breakthrough -- on ComputerA I opened up the map in Firefox, confirmed the images were gone, replaced one of the images using Firefox, saved, and now the image appears in all browsers on both ComputerA and ComputerB. Voila! I originally created the map on ComputerA…

Thanks for the reply. I'm not trying to use a custom icon for status - that's using the default icon set. I'm dropping an image on the canvas using the Insert Image button: Then I drag a group from the entity library onto the sheet and move it on top of one of the images. The status icon for the group works great -- it's…

@"danielleh" -- that's exactly what I'm looking for -- thank you! I'll comment on that thread as well.
