Yes, dependencies (which some probably confuse with suppression) are something that Orion does not currently allow for. Andy, can you shed any light as to whether SolarWinds is working on incorporating the ability to define device dependencies (in node management?) in a future version of Orion?

Denny, Here are two screen shots. The second one shows the table option grayed out for all web views.

So, does that mean that I would have to type in the entire string that I want to delete, or could I use some kind of wild card in between a starting and an ending character? Example, if I want to delete the string ABCBTHDSFKGKERTUYHGJG, can I enter the A and the G with some wild card in between?

So, Serena I have decided based on advise in this thread to upgrade to IPAM 4.5. But will the new installer allow me to upgrade all other apps (NPM, NTA, UDT. SAM, VNQM) to their newest versions AND stop at IPAM 4.5? Or, will I have to upgrade each app individually? I am planning to do this tonight if I can. Thanks for…

Yes, wild cards are allowed. So, you could limit the alert to, say, a single subnet by using something like "192.168.20.*"

I just read this entire thread since I will be soon be working with a client that has an Avaya shop. Let me see if I have a handle on the current capabilities of VOIP with respect to Avaya equipment. VOIP does not currently support the Avaya RTCP protocol that would enable it to collect stats on call QOS data, but I should…

I assumed that the EventTime field in the Events table would be appriopriate. Do you think AlertTriggerTime and/or DateTime would be better?

I should have added that the only remaining problem is that the external link still adds a double banner bar at the top. Does anyone know a way to correct this?

SolarWinds? Is this a bug in Platform 2016?

Here is an image of what I am seeing using a manually defined dependency. Why are the interfaces on the down node not showing as "unreachable"?

If I may jump in Spinner. If you will go to the Manage Views page, select your new view and click Edit. Then click the Preview button at the bottom of the Edit screen. Highlight the URL of this preview of the view then select Copy. Now go to External Websites on the Admin page. Add a new link using the copied URL. Now you…

Thanks byrona. I really thought we might be heading to a custom SQL report. I tried your query in my ESX 3.5i environment and got no results. All of my VMs show as"Orion.Nodes" in the EntityType field. Did the Nodes.VirtualMachines variable return results for you?
-
Sorry, meant to add more..... Then you could create a dynamic group referencing the custom property that would automatically add new VMs to the group as long as the custom property was populated when a new VM is added to the database.

Tell me you are a Tiger fan, Denny!!

Yes, I believe tha tsedmo has it right. The Test function applies only to the Action in the alert (e-mail, page, script, etc.). It soes not actually test the event on which the alert is based.

Thanks for all the work Roger. Could I also use the replace function to remove some text from device labels? For example, say I have multiple devices that all have some common text in MIDDLE of the Display Name. How could I designate that text to be removed ?

I know how to send files to Solarwinds support, but how do I post a screenshot?

You can verify that version of Orion by opening registry editor and going to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Solarwinds\Orion\Core You may also see version information about any other add-ins that you have installed. It will be in various sub-folders of the Orion folder.

Yes. In the Advanced Alert, click on the Trigger Actions tab. Then either Add a New Action or Edit an existing one. Select the Alert Escalation tab. You can then execute the action repeatedly at set intervals or delay the action for some chosen period of time. So, you could set two trigger actions for your alert. One to…

Yes, you certainly can do tha twith Advanced alerts. I wouldn't think that you would need additional modems. The modem is only there as the device by which the SMS messages are sent, right? In any event, as long as Orion can monitor the Distro switches, then all you have to do is click on the Trigger Condition tab, add a…

I am using version 8.5.1, and did not find the ReportHeader.jpg referenced earlier. Still waiting on a resolution. Thanks.

Testing with NPM v12 and SAM v6.3 I have found that applications do indeed go into Unreachable status automatically when the server is down. However, when a switch is down, the interfaces are NOT automatically placed into Unreachable status. Solarwinds? This seems abnormal. Comments?

Since this thread is quite old, I wanted to check to see if the KB article is still accurate. To wit, is it accurate to say that the current version of NTA does support flexible netflow, but only for the attributes listed in the KB? Thanks.
-
Actually, it shouldn't take too long to sort the node list in the Custom Property editor to show the VMs if they have some common text in the node name. Then, you could enter the custom property data all at once.

Based on this from the Orion Admin Guide, you are correct: "Calculation of the 95th percentile, a well-known statistical standard used to discard maximum spikes, is based on 5 minute data samples. The calculation gathers these values every 5 minutes for however long you select, throws away the top 5%, yielding the 95th…

Update: I managed to get the device template set up for a Cat 1900 and I can now add the device to NCM. However, I am now getting errors when I try to download configs. I will attach the session trace, but I am wondering if the firmware version (9.00.04) may need to be updated. Any help will be greatly appreciated. One…

UAC is one of those bothersome little security gifts from Microsoft that has a tendency to negatively impact other applications.
