sum_giais, it looks to me that this approach might work for a need I have to integrate Orion with Ansible, Specifically, I need to have Ansible request an available IP address from a designated subnet, and then "tell" IPAM to mark that IP address as Used. Could this be done? Ideally, this would be a scripted process used…

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, I do not see the option to do that. There used to be a button to click under the answer. That;s OK.

Glad I could be of help. Please mark my answer as Correct. Thanks.

This may be happening because Orion has assigned the "Wireless Autonomous AP" view to the Fortinet device type. If Orion is already seeing it as the correct machine type (via SNMP), then check to see what view is assigned on the "Views by Devie Type" page. Go to All Settings-->Views by Device Type. Find the Fortinet device…

The group down alert would still work because you could include information in the alert notification that would identify the interface(s) that were actually down. As for whether any particular interface will be alerted on, that can also be accomplished using a Yes/No custom property. Assign a Yes value to the interfaces…

This is an excellent use case for Groups. Create a group for each switch containing the interfaces on that switch. Make sure to choose "show best" as the status rollup method. That way, when you set up your "group is down" alert, it will only trigger when ALL interfaces in the group are in a down status. You will only need…

Not sure how I missed that. Thanks.

Sorry to take so long to respond. Got off on other things. So I have almost everything I need here wit this query, but I still need: 1. To filter the report based on a specific customer using the node custom property "CustomerName". 2. Need different time frames, specifically, Yesterday, Last Week and Last Month. How can I…

Another example where the report is showing too many "events". As you can see, there was a down event at 10:13 and an Up event at 10:58. The 2 minute "event" between 10:11 and 10:13 did not happen, and why is the runtime stamp for the report being interpreted as an Up event? It seems that the query is catching other event…

Perhaps I should also ask for the exact definitions of the "Start Datetime" and "Final Datetime". I would assume that the Start Datetime is the time the node went into DOWN status. The Final Datetime would then be when the node is back UP. Could either of them be something else? I ask because of all of the "extra" events…

Update based on a test I ran on one node. I manually created two separate down events for the node in the screenshot below. One event lasted from 11:54 Am to 12:03 PM, or approx. 9 minutes, the second event started when I took the node down at 12:14 PM and ended when the node came back up at 1:08PM. In case it may be…

I'd be interested in seeing this "conversion" too.

If you are willing to use the Enhanced node status option rather than the Classic method, you would be able to include Hardware Sensor (Node) as a contributor to overall node status. You could then dispense with the Hardware Sensor alert and just use the "Node is in Warning or Critical Status" alert and have the message…

Interesting that this report yields no message for the last 24 hours when the Log Viewer clearly shows numerous messages. Thoughts?

Here's some additional information that leads me to think that the 2020.2.7 instance may be broken. I ran the Config Wizard and there is no change. I compared the 2020.2.7 to both a 2020.2.6 and an Observability 2022.0 instance that do have the option to assign a custom property to be used with Account Limitations. Weird…

A report for the nodes currently in SolarWinds showing the Status and Polling Method is the easy part. The Current Status of Each Node report could be edited to add the Polling Method. As for knowing whether nodes from an external list are in the database, I'm sure that could be scripted in some way, but you might also…

The easiest thing to do would be to create a "Yes/No" custom property and assign a Yes value to the appropriate Volumes. Then set up the alert to apply only to those volumes with that Yes value.
-
I figured it out. Deleted the custom properties and added them back as "floating point number" type instead of "integer". I was then able to Import the values as General format from the spreadsheet. Problem solved, now I can go home for the day.
-
I thought of that, so I tried the format as Number and Text, but no success. Weird thing is that I've done this many times and always left the Format at "General". Maybe I just wasn't holding my mouth right when I clicked Import.

I'm using SWQL for Stevenstadel's query and getting the "there was an error processing the request" message. I tried placing "group by n.Caption" immediately before the "order by" statement at the end.
-
Trying to modify it to group by Device and Order by Down Event in descending order but getting an error. What is the syntax for that?

For what it is worth, there are already a couple of useful widgets on the Node Details view that deal with alerts on the node being viewed. One is "All Alerts this Object Can Trigger", and the other is "Active Alerts on This Node". The second one will be hidden if there are no active alerts on the node. Does that help?

stuartd, I am very much like you in that the give-and-take of a live class is the best learning method for me. So, count me on board with the live class idea if it can be worked out.

Same issue here. Any update or solution? Where did you go to turn off TLS?

Anyone?
