Facebook's outage was inevitable, same as any cloud service as well.

I worked at a company and the parking lot was being resurfaced. They had a dozer scrape off the top 4 inches of dirt and then prepped and laid down new blacktop. That's when we found a set of conduits that the main Data center power and original communications cabling were only buried about 3 inches deep. Data Center…

Glad to see the change that you are working on this.

Thanks for the write up.

I still think they have the double slit experiment wrong. Even though they are firing single photons through the slits I think they are assuming they are firing them through a complete vacuum of everything when in fact there are still gravity waves that those photons have to cross to go through the slit. The patterns are…

Thanks for the write up Paul

Another work around I tried was to create a SAM template to go read the event log and it worked, but it was always a few minutes behind so it wasn't a good for what I needed. Counting down minutes left on a UPS.

These should be in the thwack store for sure

I was working from home about 1/2 the time prior to the current situation so it was a pretty good balance between both. I think one of the best things we 'fell into' was we were about year in to the SAFE/Agile process when the current situation presented itself and that has been one of the best Project Management process I…

http://Demo.solarwinds.com/ While not a lab, you can look at a lot of features here. I just bought my last license needed to complete my lab system. I was missing NTA in the lab.

Not all of my nodes are on the same polling cycles so minutes works better in my instance but I see where this could be handy.

Some of the other scripting tools out there do provide the ability to loop the script on error..

Thanks for the write up. Hackers are a nasty, clever bunch. A couple weeks ago I posted a craigslist ad to sell a car, stating call me, don't bother texting or emailing me. Within minutes, the first response I got was a text message asking me to verify I was a human by going to a sketchy URL they supplied. Right away…

Apple replaced 11 million batteries.... I don't replace my old phone yearly, I'm on year 3 on my current phone with it's original batteries.

Thanks for the write up! I really liked "Gone are the days of silo-based IT skills."

Thanks for the write up!

So whats the difference between a Hadoop cluster and an LPAR on a mainframe? About 40 years....

Thanks for the write up! If you have a decent Security Compliance Team they will do a lot of the bridge building between the teams so everyone knows their roles and expectations.

Your welcome! I just realized there needs to be an # in front of "Unmanages the nodes in the text file" to comment out that line or you can remove the line altogether.

I took the LEM class and really liked it. If you want something you can stand up and have it work right out of the box (like most Solarwinds products) it would be perfect. The problem I ran into was our network is fairly large and we have lots of messages. Lots more than the LEM can handle so I had to go with a different…

I would love to see some additional features added to Worldmap.

Alerts are just misunderstood.... Throw them some love!

Makes about as much sense as the library charging for books, based on the subject matter.

Unopened MS DOS, haha! May want to keep that one.
