Thanks for the great posting. The retirement of Report Writer and the need for reports that I couldn't get out of the box sent me over to the SWQL Studio to get the job done. Now it's my go to tool. Today I needed to create a report of what nodes were assigned to each team (via custom properties) and SWQL Studio had the…

So for Monday's question, you only need to know a couple things to answer it 1 - What is the most sought after entity a criminal is looking to obtain? (You may be sitting on something that hold$ it) 2 - What standard deals with that 'type' of data? * There was a giant hint on the front cover of the document

The problem we had one of my old employers was the tape had been transferred off site for storage for years. Eventually you have an entire warehouse full of tape. Legal won't let you destroy it yet the company doesn't even own the readers to retrieve the data or the mainframe any longer.

Windows phone died off? When? I had a co-worker holding onto his until last year. Then one day the screen went blank. He went out bought a new iphone. Left his windows one on the charger at his desk. Three days later it beeped and came back on saying 'installed updates'

Thanks for the article! The more security the better. A side benefit from collecting logs for security is being able to mine that data for other metrics

I just never have an answer for anyone when they ask what I do at work. I just say I work in IT and leave it at that. If you go into it any further you get the deer in the headlight stare. My wife's been in IT for a long time as well and holds 2 masters degrees. We never talk about technology much, but she knows exactly…

Any word on this feature request?

Yep you always run into that. We are lucky enough to have some pretty good contractors in the area I work in.

One of my co-workers started driving an electric car so he could be more environmentally friendly then a year later started mining bitcoin. His electric bill now exceeds $5,000 per month running all the miners he has going. So much for the environment.

We just finished up a POC with Nagios Xl. We are considering it because we need to be able to execute alert actions such as create a ticket, send an email etc. manually once the alerts have been reviewed by our NOC. I have been trying to do some workarounds in Orion but haven't came up with a solid solution yet. If anyone…

The old turntables and record albums are fad with the younger generation now. I however embrace having a tiny MP3 player that holds way more music that I could ever afford to buy and goes all day on a charge.

I took a chance using your assumption and it appears that EASTEXMBX01v is the correct node. You still need to read the question very carefully and look at the map very carefully to get it right.

I count 38 + 200 + 1278 = 1515 I'm going to wait on this one before answering.

About three years ago I decided I just wanted a change of scenery after being in the same job for many years. Found a new spot at a new employer and life went on. About six months after I left my previous employer outsourced almost their entire IT department.

At a previous gig all of the managers went into a weekly meeting 4-5pm on Thursdays and an entire floor of Geeks engaged for a 15 minute Nerf war

Here you go rschroeder, The 'Nodes with Problems' one is easy, its already built. Just need to add it to your home view. I will also post the custom report below for audit events seperately. The ones that currently have issues have the small grey dots over the green dot, they are the ones that disappeared. I have more of…

In my state with all the tax that gets collected it doesn't seem like much ends up being spent on the roads as they are horrible and then to top that off a union dispute is currently going on so the roads that are currently torn up are simply closed.

My weekend started with a team building event on last Friday. Great time! Knocked off at noon then had the whole team over for a BBQ, swimming, and yard games. Great way to kick off a holiday weekend
