You might try the free Event Log Forwarder from Solarwinds or type 'evntwin' on the command line of your Orion server and use the free one that comes with Windows OS.

Nice work around ..

I still think that FR is the way forward ..

Another work around I tried was to create a SAM template to go read the event log and it worked, but it was always a few minutes behind so it wasn't a good for what I needed. Counting down minutes left on a UPS.
