I'm getting the feeling that things will not be fixed quickly, so does anyone know how to go back to 8.5.1? Just out of curiosity, what gives you this impression? SW typically comes out with an SP for most opened bugs within a few weeks of a new release. If you haven't opened a ticket on your issues yet, I would do so as…

Thanks. I still haven't figured it out, but I did find another way to do what I wanted to do. I appreciate the assistance!

I would suggest that SW replace the current Event resource with this one. As a rule of thumb, when designing a resource and you are faced with the question, "Should we allow filtering or not in this resource?", assume the answer is an emphatic YES! :-)

I spoke with a support manager at SW today and he told me that this is a known problem, but doesn't show up in every installation. Can you tell me whether you are behind a firewall on your staging server? What about your current production server? I ask because it's as though my firewall is treating Orion ICMP packets…

Not a good way to do this unless you want to spend many many hours creating a bunch of pages using the Custom HTML Resource and manually entering in each graph link. Alternatively, those with some .NET skillz might have a good way of doing it through some sort of programmy loopy thingy (technical term).

'Counter' is for when the device is reporting something like "number of X since last boot" or similar. With a 'Counter'-type poller, UnDP will sample the value and record the rate of change. 'Rate' is for when the device is reporting a number that UnDP should record directly, without doing the rate of change computation.…

t0ta11ed74, The problem in this instance turned out to be a "reserved" custom property that I had set in my Nodes table. The custom property was called 'Router' and once support identified the issue, we deleted it and re-added it in with a different name.

My company would be happy to quote you a price for a dedicated server and 100M or more of bandwidth. :-) We are on the east coast and have direct connections to seven of the top 10 largest networks in the world, as well as 80+ other networks in a public peering exchange. It'd probably be cheaper than what you're paying for…

When you click on any of those GigabitEthernet interfaces in your report, it takes you to the same Null0 interface graph? If that's the case, it seems as though if this a report you built, the details URLs for the interfaces are not configured properly for some reason. Can you screenshot the report criteria?

I was given Hotfix5 the other day and was sorely disappointed. It takes me over 3 minutes to be able to use MapMaker. I told this to Support the answer I received was, "This is normal behavior with the map maker. It is going to take some time for the node list to load into the map maker. During this time the map maker may…

Did you kill it or shut it down gracefully? If you killed it, there's a chance that you have the "Restart" option enabled within the Windows Services MMC console and the process was restarting because of that.

Odd, there's nothing of interest in the Orion.InformationService.log.

Been down this road before. There's really nothing you can do to change the SysObjectID on appliances such as this. Unfortunately, you are kind of stuck, unless you purchase enough Juniper gear to put pressure on your Juniper sales rep and systems engineer to put in a feature request.

I'm just curious - what's the difference between getting a text file and seeing the full configuration in your email? I can only think that maybe he wants to save it locally without having to go through the extra step of copying and pasting out of email.

Hi, Just a quick question about setting up a NOC and using Orion to monitor it all. Are you monitoring your own corporate networks or multiple 3rd party networks? We are looking to manage remote company sites that are not ours and wondered the best way of doing that using a central management station for all of the sites…

Release 10.4.1 seems a HUGE step to resolving some of these issues. At least I how have the option of displaying the data in a table, mimicking the functionality of the old CPE, even being able to copy and paste between one or multiple rows. It will take a bit of getting used to, but this was one of my biggest gripes, now…

It did this to me when I had no pollers configured at all, so it's definitely not related to the number of pollers (at least not in my case).

OH CRAP! I think I may have installed the wrong version here. *sigh* I just realized that I probably double-clicked the wrong .exe this morning. *sigh again* DURR - I YUZE CUMPUTIR GOOD

I have this same complaint and unfortunately, there is no way around it natively in Orion. All it takes is a bit of sleuthing and the customer can have access to all sorts of pages that he/she shouldn't have access to. It is possible that you could put file-level permissions on the Events.asp page or other pages you don't…
-
It sounds like you want to set up a custom page that shows events and currently down interfaces. I'm not sure if this is helpful to you, but let me explain what we do for downed T1 interfaces with Orion and maybe it will spark an idea for you. We use Custom Properties to set properties on interfaces we monitor. One is…

If I'm understanding correctly, the UCS config is basically a file or set of files that you use to restore a system. If that's the case, couldn't you simply set up the F5 to save these configs on a schedule and simply download the files with NCM? NCM comes with an SCP server, so the command for config backups would simply…

Your point is very well taken. And this response is not in argument to your point, but just some examples so you can see my side a little further as well. Vendors come out with new initiatives and technologies all the time. For example, Cisco has come out with EEM or Media Net, but we have not added support for that to the…

I'd suggest doing a query on the Engines table in the database first. If you see two engines in there and you really only have one Orion poller, then it's a pretty simple fix to get everything back working again.
-
That's also kind of my experience, but to be fair, no matter what vendor I open a support case with, I have to do that. It's annoying and frustrating, but it's not something SW is solely guilty of.

Good to know, thanks!

Thanks, Chris. This will help us out a lot.

I followed the directions on the KB article here: APE installer error on Orion Scalability Engine Maintenance Check: The license we have for Orion Scalability Engine is o… which was essentially, deactivate the licenses on the win32 app and then reactivate them using the web-based license manager. Seems I can now start the…
