Oh no, I meant the Linux part, not the 64-bit part. And that's cause I'm a rabid anti-windows bigot.

Can't wait to hear your opinions on the live chat! See you in a week.

Very nice. Points coming soon.

Per my note to your question here: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/63999, where I referenced another thread (http://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/49393) You *can* set up an alert on a single CPU. It would look like this: Start a new alert. Set it to be a Node alert. Then change it to be a Custom SQL query (with the…

We have a primary poller plus 16 additional plus 1 additional webserver. This would be HUGE for us. Right now any patch or upgrade is a 4-6 hour adventure, especially since you can't do them in parallel.

there was some weirdness in posting this one. I got it now. Sorry to everyone for the delay.

“When I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. It turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of apocalypse.” - Riley Finn, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", S04E12 ********************** "Fulchum, you think you know everything, but you don't know the difference…

Boom. Headshot. You can now find me waiting by the mailbox for that mini.

First, I'm not disagreeing that having the notes fields could be helpful. BUT... your example forces me to ask why you don't have parent-child downstream suppression turned on, so that you just flat-out don't GET those downstream alerts. Right?
-
It's a very good point, and being more deliberate and communicative about our upgrade cycles is part of the overall Security By Design concept.

Don't forget that Danielle just posted about the site update last night, and that there may be some issues. Clear cache and cookies and try again.

I'll allow it.

The thing I loved about 2020 was the way, for many of us, it stripped away the pointless and useless and unessential and sensitized us to what was truly important, truly valuable, and truly necessary. I love that in many cases, those important, valuable, and necessary things weren't what we expected. I love that we are…

I'd have to look back, but I believe drop-downs hit NPM in 10.3. But I know that rob.hock could say for sure.
-
My pleasure as always.
-
FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! How do you normally get past those roadblocks (besides a 3-way cage match?)
-
You may even hear that phrase during the session.

Just to clarify: EVERYONE can contribute, and will get credit for it. So find the word(s) that inspire you and start writing now, and post as soon as the word appears each day. Yes, there's one person who will be the lead writer. But their thoughts are not more important than yours. I'm looking forward to enjoying what…

Like all cliche's there's a kernel of truth to them, and (as you said), a context in which they are more accurate/correct than not. It is (and this STRONGLY correlates to the way companies implement over-priced monitoring tools) when individuals or organizations try to use that true-ism in every situation, for every use…

Nah, just a small posting snafu. It's up now.

(NOTE: read to the end where I agree with you) I just pulled up the SolarWinds North America price list (http://www.solarwinds.com/products/pricing/) And pulled the smallest license cost for "one of everything" (ok, I left out Dameware, Confio, and a couple of other items.). The total cost if you bought ONE OF EACH is…

On zoom, everybody lies. And on WebEx, RingCentral, teams, and Google hangouts (or whatever it’s called this week). You know it. I know it. We’ve all seen the evidence: a pristine bookshelf background from this angle, complete baby toy bedlam from the other. Or outfits saying “management material” above the belt, but…

Most displays and reports can be modified to include other statuses besides down (status=2). You can include unmanaged (status=9) and Unreachable (status=12). So I'm not sure this is needed as an enhancement.

I'm scanning through this passionate thread, and trying to pull together what people acutally would WANT. First, let's presume for a moment that we're not going to get a free license (of any size) along with our purchase for most use cases (see below). Second, also recognize that you are able to get ANY license amount for…

A fantastic response, and an amazing journey! Good luck as the world marches on. I can't wait to hear what others have to share.

That's fantastic. When DanielleH and wabbott get back, your filthy lucre will be in your point total!

Some of what you mention are "attitudinal". Jet lag is hard, but getting 12 hours of uninterrupted writing time is a gift. So is feeling like you've slept in until 10am and it's still only 4am in the morning. (at least for the first day). Other items you list are real, but often over-blown by news outlets. So lemme hit…

This is a fantastic addition to our growing knowledge base. Thank you! In almost every network class/tutorial/session, when the topic of packet capture is followed by the phrase "is outside the scope of this training". With that said, this underscores the value that DPI in NPM 11 provides. Just like you can track bandwidth…

You just figured out what part 5 is! Full marks.
