I dont know if anyone knows exactly on there network. i know here we have a monitoring team and then a network team and oddly enough we dont really talk..i know what kind of switches have but no where near what configs are on them or have been on them unless i go though the configs on NCM and see whats going on.

Agree with naburleson alerts are awesome we monitor everything to try to head it all off as soon as possible. the less the managers and execs know the better.

Standards are a must for any company no matter the size this way when you do get bigger everything is set. also no one stays in one place forever with standards at least you know it will stay the same.

great article and i agree with pretty much everyone here that we need to be completely monitored and properly documented.. just in case someone leaves they can pick back up where that person left off at with some training.

we use NCM,NPM, and a ton of perl scripts to do pretty much everything and do a small bit of cisco prime just to do some wireless monitoring but our our network team is using it.

this was a great article we did our VoIP roll out a while back and we just did alot of training on how to use the cisco phones and CUCM for our telephony guys. we use VNQM to monitor and its an amazing tool.

i love these commands as we are a linux/unix shop this gets used all the time.

through our wireless if you dont have a GID you don't get on if your a visitor the manager of the section you are seeing needs to get you a temp GID just to get on. if you need to work from home we use RSA tokens and pulse, if you want your emails and what not on your smartphone it has to go to the security get patched…
