You can populate Custom Properties programmatically using the Orion SDK. There is also an ability to populate custom properties automatically via the Alert Manager.

The improvements to Network Atlas map performance that I described are not part of APM 4.2 but may be included in the next release of NPM. If so, it will subsequently be released in the next version of APM for standalone customers not running both NPM and APM.

All tasks you wish to monitor with SAM's Windows Scheduled Task Monitor must reside in the root of the 'Task Scheduler Library'. Tasks contained within subfolders will not be monitored.
-
Once the component is properly configured then the out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" alert (once configured) should trigger and notify however you like.
-
Do I just copy the same ones from the pre-packaged template? That would be my recommendation, but you can chose to add whatever counters you like.
-
That is not the case. This is not a configurable option using SAM 6.1. You will need to upgrade to SAM 6.2 (6.2.1 is the latest current version at this time) before you will be able to modify the retry mechanism.

I'm sure both of these features have been requested by other customers already, but since I'm not the current Core/NPM Product Manager I can't say for certain how often this feature has been requested. I directed you to the NPM feature request forums because the NPM/Core product manager is moderates this forum. It also…

More MIB walks are always welcome. The more MIB walks we receive the higher the quality since our QA team will test against any and all customer submitted MIB walks.

You can use the Scheduled Unmanage utility to only manage this application during certain hours of the day. That should help.

Other than "Attachment Count" the default out-of-the-box "Users By Mailbox Size" report contains all the information you're looking for in the report.

I would recommend starting here -> Adding Nodes Manually - YouTubehttp://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/SAM/QS/content/onboarding.htm Once installed you'll be taken to the Orion web interface where you'll need to login for the first time. The default username is "admin" with no password. Once logged in you…

Script Monitors in SAM 5.0.1 are now supported in the multi-object chart resource. However, only the first statistic returned from a multi-value script will be shown in the Multi-Object Chart Resource.

The Storage MIB also requires that you have the "Storage Management" option of OpenManage/Server Administrator installed. Also, I can't speak to older versions of OpenManage but I can assure you that Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Managed Node v.5.2.0, A00 released on 4/10/2007 works perfectly on all 85 Window…

It's a little too in the details to explain, and quite honestly without a lot of Orion development context, probably even more difficult to understand. If you're uncomfortable upgrading without validation that the issue you're experiencing is the same as the ones addressed in Orion Platform 2019.2, then I recommend opening…

The Nodes with Problems resource is filterable. Beyond that I would recommend opening a case with VMware to either determine what the cause of the hardware alert is, or possibly a way to ignore this condition all together so it's not reported.

SAM will pass the ".\" as part of the credentials, but your script will need to handle them appropriately. Is there any reason why SAM's "Service Status - SNMP" monitor does not satisfy your requirements? As an aside, we're currently working on a Agent for SAM that can be installed on a machine where no domain trust exists…

Sounds like you may not have PowerShell 3.0 or later installed. This cmdlet was introduced in PowerShell 3.0.

What are you most interested in monitoring about these applications that don't run all the time? Is it that they're scheduled to run at a specific time or interval and you want to ensure they're running on schedule? Or do you simply need visibility into the performance of that process so when high CPU/Memory alerts are…

Removing the Agent itself will not reset the expired certificate used for PowerShell's WinRM. The expired certificate must be removed from the system and the WinRM settings referencing it need to be reset before Zero Config can be used to generate a new one.

The Windows Scheduled Task Monitor in SAM uses RPC as that is the only way in which this information is exposed by the operating system remotely. This thread pertains to the Windows Event Log Monitor specifically.

The following query should get you most of the way there. You'll simply need to filter the results so it only returns information for the database you're interested in. select db_name(dbid),str(convert(dec(15),sum(size))* 8192/ 1048576,10,2)+ N' MB' as Size from sys.sysaltfiles group by dbid order by 2 desc GO

Yes, SAM can run Nagios scripts natively. The following sections of the Administrators Guide describe the usage of SAM's Nagios Script Monitor in some detail. * Nagios Script Monitor * Creating a Nagios Script Monitor

SAM 6.2 (currently in beta) allows you to monitor processes and services when they are running, and have them go into a neutral "Not Running" state when they're not. This prevents alerts from triggering and red appearing on your dashboards for processes and services that run only as-needed, while still allowing you to…

What is the status of the Agent under [Settings -> Manage Agents]? When you select the agent within the grid and click [More Actions -> View Installed Agent Plug-ins] what is the "status" of the "SAM Agent plugin"?
-
Falling back to my original position, I recommend gathering debug logs from the application at the time the issue occurs and opening a case with support so we can determine the cause.

What is the username you are using?

Engineers are available to assist you during the evaluation phase. Contact your sales rep directly or email sales@solarwinds.com to request assistance with your evaluation.

I have checked all of the places listed above, and they all list the status of the instance as "Unknown" (or they display a little grey circle), Please provide a screenshot of where you are seeing "little grey circles"

Is the entire SQL instance "unknown" or just a couple of components? If it's just a few components, what are those component names?

Is this out now? The application template that Craig referenced in the previous post is available for download from the Content Exchange section of Thwack. Below is a direct link to that application template.
